Louis and Laura spent two days resting there, allowing his forehead to recover quietly.
They took advantage of the ti to make as many runes as possible, and at dawn on the second day, the fourth day in this place, they activated the Cube, inserting both keys into their places.
Upon doing so, the cube suddenly activated, heating up to ridiculous temperatures, causing Louis to drop it, and it floated up.
Imdiately, a rune of power appeared beneath them. It wasn’t that big, just big enough to cover them both. This rune glowed brightly and disappeared... Or rather, they couldn’t keep looking because their vision beca blurry.
It was a teleportation rune.
When they opened their eyes again, they were in a completely different place. It was no longer an open world but a cave, albeit an imnse one.
At that mont, the rune beneath them did disappear. And Louis put the cube with the keys away, for it hadn’t disappeared.
Louis frowned. ’What a complex rune. I only saw a small part of it and it already gave a headache,’ he thought.
He should say that, as expected of a rune made for magic as unique as teleportation.
"The 11th floor. We’re not alone," Laura said suddenly, pulling him out of his thoughts.
He looked ahead; there were no people in sight, but there were traces of recent battles. Blood on the floor and beasts.
"Well, we just have to be faster to reap the benefits," he replied.
"Haha, you’re right. Then let’s go. On this floor, a boss is always fixed in one direction, so it’ll be easier to find. If we find it before that person, we can get out of here and go up to a floor that’s alone."
They both started to push forward. This was one of the problems with the Tower when used for leveling up. You’re usually not alone.
With people coming in from all over the Empire and outside, there is always a large influx of people on each floor, making it more difficult to find places to level up.
Fortunately, the beasts here "regenerate" fairly quickly, so so groups make deals with other groups to completely dominate a floor and take over different areas of it.
However, this starts to end on the 50th floor. Even on the 30th floor, it is difficult to find such people, due to the difficulty of controlling a floor when beasts from higher floors may co to visit you.
Unfortunately, several people were hunting on the 11th floor, so the experience gained was reduced. However, Laura was quite happy because she was able to level up.
Finally, Louis was able to find out her real level: 89.
She was powerful in her own right, and her sniper skills were top-notch.
’Even in movies, I’ve never seen anyone as good as her. I don’t think she’s missed a shot in all this ti,’ he thought.
On the other hand, he was already level 30 and his stats had increased quite a bit. However, due to the lack of beasts on Floor 11, he could only quickly advance to the Floor Boss and kill him alongside Laura before ascending to Floor 12.
Floor 12 wasn’t any different... It was worse, several tis over.
They couldn’t hunt anyone but the Boss.
Floor 13... 14. 15.
They passed through those floors quickly because of the large number of people, and at dusk, they finally stopped on Floor 19.
There were no people here.
Although it was nightti, you wouldn’t have known it inside this place. This floor wasn’t much different from the 11th floor, except that the rooms were smaller and much better furnished.
The walls resembled a castle, even though the floor was made of rocks and common earth.
Magical chandeliers carefully illuminated every corner of this place, which had long corridors, though not very wide—they asured 6 ters wide.
The beasts here were a type of demon with a horn protruding from their heads. Their appearance was similar to humans’, but the horn on their heads and a spine protruding from their bodies took away everything "human" about them.
It was a classic type of beast, nothing special. But it was level 60.
Louis ran when he saw the first one appear and aid at its head.
BAM*
The shot was fired quickly after a few seconds of activating the magic, and the bullet flew at high speed toward the demon’s head.
The force of the impact damaged it, with the bullet piercing through its cheeks and into its head. The fire naturally ignited, and in the blink of an eye, it grew until it surrounded the entire body, threatening to burn it completely.
But...
Suddenly, the demon ran forward out of the fire, as if it did not affect him in the slightest.
Louis was shocked and took a step back to dodge the blow.
BAM*
Then Laura’s shot arrived, surrounded by a terrifying wind power. The shot hit the head, piercing its brain, while the wind magic finished destroying its head.
The demon fell backward, dead.
"I forgot to tell you." Laura smiled apologetically from behind him. "Demons are very fire-resistant, so don’t shoot bullets like that. Wind and water are fine."
Louis nodded. "I understand."
He had already noticed. He removed the bullets with fire runes and put in nine with wind runes.
After that, they continued on their way, entering a peculiar dungeon.
As they walked down a long corridor that intersected with two side corridors and one that seed to curve in an arc leading to "nowhere," Louis had to jump to the side to dodge an attack from above.
"The ceiling?" he thought, and looked up.
That’s when he understood what that hallway leading to "nowhere" was for. It was a staircase leading to a door above, where they would launch themselves to take their prey by surprise.
If it weren’t for his perception, he would have been struck by those terrifying claws, which seed harder than a sword. And it wasn’t just one demon; there were four that had launched themselves from there.
