Roe knew sothing felt weird about how the energy was fed back into him.

’It was probably because it wasn’t actually mana,’ Roe thought.

He was now in a different room. No hallways this ti, and there he stood.

A young man.

It seed like he was ditating or sothing. After all, his eyes were closed shut.

"Are you the one with the weird spell?" Roe asked.

"I think so," he replied.

"You think so? Are you being serious right now?" Roe asked.

"I think I am," he replied.

"’Think.’ Why are you emphasizing your use of that word?" Roe asked again.

"Well, I don’t think I really know."

’There’s that word again,’ Roe thought.

He walked up to the young man. He wasn’t exactly within shaking distance or anything, but now he could see the young man’s features more prominently.

He wasn’t a familiar figure.

"Oh. How rude. Are you here to have your faith awakened?" the young man asked Roe.

"Excuse ?" Roe asked back.

"Well, we are awakening the faith of possible individuals. It’s interesting, really. Don’t you want a part in it?" the young man added.

Roe then rembered the bunch of them that were sent in. They had all co in because they wanted to be awakened.

’So this is the guy doing the awakening. I don’t see any staff. That’s pretty strange.

’What kind of dium does he use?’ Roe thought.

"Okay, if I said I was, then how do we proceed?"

"Okay, good.

"Just place your hand in mine," he said.

Roe imdiately thought back to when he asked Quentin if all of them could use faith.

Quentin said they all could.

Now he had another important question to ask. This ti for this mysterious young man who wasn’t outside with the others.

They were seven outside. This wasn’t a familiar figure. Roe always knew sothing was up, as a circle would need at least eight mbers before it could even be considered by the council for registry.

The question was simple. A true follow-up to what he had asked Quentin.

"Are you the only one capable of faith awakenings?" Roe asked.

"I think so," the young man responded.

Roe imdiately summoned his staff and fired a mana beam.

He aid it lower, hoping to get his legs. Incapacitate him before anything happened.

The beam missed sohow despite having been perfectly aid.

Roe was also surprised it missed.

"How?" he asked.

"I don’t think I know," the young man responded.

"You’re him, aren’t you?

"You’re the ergence."

"I overreacted. I don’t know what ca over ," Roe said.

’Wait, am I saying?’ he thought.

’What did I just do?’

"I apologize. I didn’t an to attack," Roe said.

"I believe you," the young man responded.

"What?" Roe was shocked.

"You just believe ? Just like that? You’re seriously not going to question the possibility that I might very well be lying to you right now? Are you that gullible?" he said.

The young man just laughed.

"No, I’m not gullible. I know you genuinely didn’t an to attack .

"You see, the thing is, I have faith in you.

"My faith tells that wasn’t a lie."

Roe was shocked. He knew he genuinely didn’t an to attack, but how could this guy know that was the truth?

"You want answers. I think you want them. You want them, don’t you?" the young man said.

’His speech pattern is disturbing,’ Roe thought.

"My na is Christopher. I command the Faith power.

"That attack right now wasn’t an attack.

"I simply summoned your staff to withdraw my faith power in your possession," Chris said.

"What do you an you summoned my staff? None of this makes any sense."

"What?" Roe was shocked. He clearly wasn’t understanding.

"You had previously absorbed so..."

Roe understood.

Chris had continued talking, but he was already starting to make sense of it all on his own.

The energy absorbed by Potential Trope was filled with faith.

He had just summoned his faith. The faith was stored in Roe’s staff. The beam wasn’t an attack per se. It was just an exterior. The faith used it as a shell of sorts.

"I need you to co with us, Chris.

"I don’t quite understand it or you, for that matter. However, the Circle of rlin wishes to speak to you," Roe proclaid.

"Okay. Then let’s speak," Christopher said.

There was an awkward silence, as Roe wasn’t expecting him to be cooperative. Not only that, but Roe wasn’t expecting that kind of answer.

Yes, he was a representative.

Yes, he was with the Circle of rlin.

But he wasn’t especially high-ranking enough to handle such a matter.

This was way ahead of his qualifications.

No one else was there.

He would just have to hear Chris out.

"Okay. That’s surprising," Roe said.

"Let’s talk then."

He knew he shouldn’t let his guard down.

Chris was being too cooperative.

This could end up being a trap of sorts.

"What do you want to know?" Chris asked.

"My question, I guess... it’s rather simple, actually.

"Why are you doing all this? Like, why this?" Roe asked.

"It’s simple.

"To prepare the world for the claim.

"The punishnt for the current convergence," Christopher said.

"I’ve been trying to reach them, but I’ve barely gotten any signal," Elijah said.

"The only one whose ring won’t pick up. I wonder what’s got Arthur so busy."

"Bill, are you up for it?" Morgana asked.

She was going to send him ahead instead.

Bill smiled. He believed he was, in fact, up for it.

"I don’t think so. I advise against sending anyone there until we can confirm what’s up," Elijah said.

"If you say so, then," Morgana agreed.

Elijah had already told Morgana and the rest of the council mbers that Lot and Roe were present.

The council was also inford that the Circle of Gadmoda had sent a representative to go undercover.

"Things were too delicate before. Things are now way too delicate. Why do they always have to stick their nose in?" Morgana said.

"This is another ergence. Whatever they’re doing, Perzeus and Arthur had better be the ones to reach them first.

"The balance was already set off when the Circle of rlin obtained the SSS-rank mage, and then things got worse when one of their own awakened the god-tier system.

"We can’t even imagine what would happen if that sa circle ca to command another ergence. That would be too much unchecked power.

"Way too much."

The future of the mage world might very well hinge on those two’s actions moving forward.

’Right choice.

’Please make the right choice.’
