Unexpectedly, it was actually related to his fishing.
Ethan stood by the white jade bridge, his expression calm, but his thoughts turned sharply.
He clearly rembered that the rivers in Blue-Wave City flowed down from the Heavenly Water Mountains.
Those mountains were riddled with countless spiritual springs. The springs converged, ford torrents, and poured downward like veins of heaven and earth. The water was dense with spiritual mist all year round, and even standing on the riverbank, one could barely see their own fingers in the fog.
That river had a na.
Obsidian River.
The Obsidian River flowed out of the Heavenly Water Mountains, crossed forests and plains, and its tributaries spread like a net. The river passing through Blue-Wave City was rely one of those tributaries.
A natural creation.
A gift of heaven and earth.
Yet now, it had sohow beco the private property of the Palace of the Four Cycles?
Ethan looked at Ren and spoke lightly.
"I heard that this river is a tributary of the Obsidian River? It only passes through Blue-Wave City. What does it have to do with your Palace of the Four Cycles?"
"This is an ownerless thing of heaven and earth. No matter how many fish I catch here, it should have nothing to do with you. Am I wrong?"
The mont his words fell, the surroundings fell silent.
Absolute silence.
The demons watching from afar widened their eyes, so even forgetting to breathe.
They had lived in Blue-Wave City for years—so for decades, so for centuries—and this was the first ti they had ever seen soone dare to speak like this to the Palace of the Four Cycles.
Not pleading.
Not explaining.
But questioning.
"As expected of a newcor… he really is bold."
"I wouldn't call that bold. I'd call it suicidal."
"If he survives today, I'll call him a warrior."
"A warrior? If he can leave his corpse intact, that's already good fortune."
Whispers rippled through the crowd.
Ren and the guards were montarily stunned.
Not because Ethan's logic was flawed—on the contrary, it was too clear.
Too clean.
So clean that it left no room for refutation.
But in Blue-Wave City, logic had never mattered.
Only power did.
For a mont, none of the guards spoke. They looked at each other, seeing disbelief and anger in one another's eyes.
This was the first ti in mory that soone had dared to deny the authority of the Palace of the Four Cycles face-to-face.
And in front of a Golden Palace leader no less.
The silence quickly turned into ridicule.
"Little roe deer," one of the guards sneered, stepping forward, "I advise you to think carefully before speaking."
"We'll give you a chance to reorganize your words."
"Hand over the goldtail fish imdiately, kneel on the white jade bridge for forty-eight hours, and the Palace of the Four Cycles might spare your life."
"Otherwise—" his eyes turned cold, "—we'll peel your fur and use it to make a pair of shoes."
The words were calm.
Casual.
As if they were discussing the fate of livestock.
Ethan laughed.
Not loudly.
Just a soft chuckle.
"Hahaha… let say it again."
"This river belongs to the Obsidian River system. These goldtail fish are wild creatures born of heaven and earth."
"I can take as many as I want."
"And your Palace of the Four Cycles has nothing to do with it."
His voice was steady, unhurried, even gentle.
But every word was like a slap to the face.
Ren's expression finally changed.
His brows knit together, veins bulging faintly at his temples.
He turned fully toward Ethan, his golden pupils burning like molten tal.
"How presumptuous!"
His voice exploded outward.
A terrifying demonic aura surged like a tidal wave, pressing down in all directions.
The pressure of a ninth-level peak great demon was fully unleashed.
The air distorted.
The jade bridge trembled faintly.
Several weaker demons nearby staggered backward, faces pale, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.
Ren's killing intent was no longer concealed.
"A re roe deer dares to speak nonsense in Blue-Wave City and blasphe the majesty of my Palace of the Four Cycles!"
"Today, I, Ren of the Golden Palace, will use your head to establish the rules!"
"I will let everyone in this city understand what happens when you defy the Palace of the Four Cycles!"
Facing that monstrous aura, Ethan did not retreat.
Instead, he clapped his hands lightly.
Pa. Pa. Pa.
His eyes curved slightly, amusent flashing within.
"So this is the Palace of the Four Cycles."
"I heard along the way that you were domineering, but I didn't expect the reality to be a hundred tis worse."
He tilted his head slightly, his tone calm.
"But if you want to take my life to set an example…"
"I'm afraid you're not qualified."
The words fell.
And the crowd exploded inwardly.
"This guy… he's insane."
"He's still provoking them!"
"Does he really think he can walk out alive today?"
Ren's fury reached its peak.
The demonic energy around him surged violently, flas of golden light licking along his arms and shoulders.
"Miscellaneous bird!"
The insult struck like a blade.
His aura sharpened instantly, killing intent condensing into substance.
The pressure intensified, crushing downward like a mountain.
Demons retreated again, widening the distance in fear.
Yet Ethan remained unmoved.
Not a single step back.
Not a tremor in his breath.
So of the more perceptive onlookers narrowed their eyes.
"This isn't normal."
"A ninth-level peak aura, and he's not affected at all…"
"Either he's insane… or he's hiding his realm."
"He might also be a ninth-level great demon."
"Even so, challenging the Palace of the Four Cycles is still courting death."
"Tenth-level demon lords don't dare to act like this here."
"There are Ultimate Supres backing the Palace of the Four Cycles."
Ren stared at Ethan, finally noticing sothing was off.
The roe deer before him was far too calm.
Far too composed.
Under this pressure, even ninth-level demons would show signs of strain.
But Ethan's posture was relaxed, as if he were rely standing under a breeze.
Ren's eyes narrowed.
Then he sneered.
"So that's how it is…"
"It turns out you're also at the peak ninth level."
