Chapter 628: A Godslayer

The moment his gaze fell upon the final option, Gabriel’s heartbeat suddenly accelerated.

In his previous life, one of the greatest reasons he had struggled so desperately against the gods in the later stages of the game was because, in the end, he was still only a mortal.

A mortal body.

No matter how powerful he became, before true divine might, he would always be subject to an innate suppression.

But now, things were different.

If he could obtain this Godslayer Bloodline Spark, then when he eventually faced those lofty existences standing high above all others, he would at least possess a sliver of the strength needed to oppose them.

It would not only increase his resistance to divine power, holy power, and god rank pressure, but also improve his patibility with divine items.

Furthermore, this was not some Vermilion Royal Bloodline.

Nor did it have anything to do with Sophie’s royal bloodline.

This was an entirely different power buried deep within the remains of Alverion Gale II.

Long ago, countless kingdoms had referred to the Alverion royal family as “the royal bloodline blessed by the gods.”

Everyone believed that their glorious dynasty had been built because they had received the favor of the gods.

But now, it seemed that the so called blessing of the gods had been an enormous misunderstanding from the very beginning.

That power had never existed to serve the gods.

It had existed for only one purpose, and that was to slay them.

Shaking off the thought in his head, Gabriel did not hesitate in the slightest.

“Extract. The Godslayer Bloodline Spark.”

Buzz!

As the system’s voice faded, a tiny strand of dark purple light slowly rose from the center of Alverion Gale II’s ribcage.

The instant it appeared, every ghostly blue eternal lamp that had burned within the royal tomb for hundreds of years trembled gently at the same time.

As though instinctively fearing the power that stood in opposition to divinity itself.

The dark purple light continuously contracted and condensed.

Finally, it transformed into a thumb sized drop of deep purple crystalline liquid.

It floated silently in midair, like a droplet of liquid crystal that would never disperse, flawless and transparent, yet flowing with a dreamlike radiance.

Deep within the crystal, a golden thread, finer than a strand of hair, drifted slowly.

[Extraction plete.]

[Obtained: Godslayer Bloodline Spark (Dormant)]

[Status: Stage Zero]

[Bloodline Integrity: Extremely Low]

[Effect: Slightly increases the host’s resistance to holy power, divinity, and god rank pressure.]

[Effect: Slightly increases the host’s patibility with divine items.]

[Notice: The Godslayer Bloodline possesses the potential to evolve. Its stage can only be increased by slaying divine beings and absorbing their divine essence.]

Gabriel slowly extended his right hand.

As though drawn by an invisible force, the drop of deep purple crystalline liquid gently descended into his palm.

The moment it touched his skin, it did not remain there for even an instant.

Instead, like true liquid, it instantly merged into his palm before rapidly spreading throughout his entire body.

Boom!

An incredibly faint, yet astonishingly tenacious power slowly awakened throughout every part of his body.

Every part of his body that had instinctively rejected divinity began adapting ever so slightly.

At the same time, deep within the system space, the separately sealed [Beating Heart of the Dead God] suddenly gave a faint tremor.

As though it had sensed a familiar yet opposing presence.

But the disturbance lasted for less than an instant before everything fell silent once more.

Gabriel stood quietly where he was.

He could clearly feel that an inparably ancient power had merged into his blood.

Although the Godslayer Bloodline remained only at Stage Zero.

Its power was so weak that it was almost negligible.

But it now belonged to him.

And all he needed to do was kill more gods if he wanted it to grow stronger.

Gabriel slowly raised his head.

He cast one final glance at Alverion Gale II, lying within the crystal coffin.

The ancient king who had once ruled an entire kingdom had now seen the final trace of his Godslayer Bloodline pletely leave his remains.

What remained was only that pristine white skeleton that had been perfectly preserved, now slowly fading away.

Outside.

Sophie stood near the double doors, occasionally looking toward the depths of the passage.

When she heard approaching footsteps, she immediately turned around.

Only after seeing Gabriel emerge unharmed from the darkness did the tension in her expression gradually ease.

“You were in there for a long time.”

Sophie looked at him.

“Did you encounter trouble?”

“No.”

Gabriel walked out of the passage before glancing back at the royal mausoleum buried deep within the Alverion Mountains.

“I was only dealing with a few things.”

Sophie did not continue questioning him.

She had already witnessed Gabriel using methods that could not be explained through ordinary class abilities, and she knew that the man before her possessed far too many secrets.

As long as he did not speak of them voluntarily, she would not pry.

“Where are we going next?” Sophie asked.

Gabriel did not reply instantly. Instead, he looked toward the deeper regions of the Alverion Mountains.

The Purpleback Ant King was dead.

The underground nest that had once housed the enormous Purpleback Ant Colony had also been severely damaged by the continuous battles and had fallen pletely silent.

However, before leaving the Royal Brood Chamber, Gabriel had already stored the more than one hundred unhatched royal eggs inside his system space.

That had been the Purpleback Ant King’s only request before its death.

Gabriel had protected the royal eggs.

What he needed to do now was find them a place where they could rebuild their colony.

Since Gabriel had given his word to the Purpleback Ant King, he would not go back on it.

“We’ll settle the royal eggs first,” he said.

“After that, we’ll continue searching for the World Tree.”

Sophie nodded gently.

The two quickly left the area surrounding the royal mausoleum and continued toward an even more remote region of the Alverion Mountains.
