Winston contemplated, "Now that I think about it, those hotel staff are anomalous in their own right. They seem to not care about the deaths of their comrades and they also don’t care much about their own death. Even when we massacred the security guards and kitchen staff in the previous ga sessions, the other hotel staff acted as if nothing happened."

"At most, they would give us warning to not do this and that, but they never went as far as to implent them through brute force. It’s mostly just verbal warning and they didn’t seem to care whether we listen to them or not."

Listening to their speculations, Kayden brainstord with them, "If we can find out the reason behind Maverick Windesburg’s founding of the Windesburg Hotel, it will give us a boost in our detective work here at the hotel."

While they were brainstorming, Kuroneko summoned his Duality of Black and White book artifact and it gave him better insight into the hidden secrets of the hotel that couldn’t be seen by the naked eye.

Seeing the dark miasma surrounding almost every part of the kitchen room and possibly every area in Windesburg Hotel, Kuroneko remarked, "As I expected, Windesburg Hotel is filled with dark miasma and mana. This can only be achieved by performing dark and inhumane acts within a certain area and accumulating it in one place."

"But in this case, the area where it all accumulated is the entire Windesburg Hotel."

"If I’m not mistaken, Maverick Windesburg must be a master of dark magic and he used it to create the anomalous creatures or areas in the hotel. I don’t know if I can defeat him in my Shironeko Form since Maverick Windesburg must be a master at it while I’m just soone who relied on the remnant spirit of the black book to master black magic."

"Unlike , Maverick Windesburg must have perford inhumane black magic experints. So if I fight against him, I might lose unless I get the Dark Authority."

Hearing Kuroneko ntion that, GoldMiner asked, "What if Maverick Windesburg has the Dark Authority? I an, even his granddaughter has the Gluttony Authority so it’s impossible for him to not have a powerful authority of his own."

"And with how that guy possibly uses black magic and dark magic like it’s everyday life for him, he must have the Dark Authority or Black Magic Authority."

Confronted with GoldMiner’s question, Kuroneko was flabbergasted.

He never thought about that possibility before since he only speculated that Maverick Windesburg was a master at black magic and dark magic.

The difference between dark magic was that it was a broad term for all magic spells that were forbidden. On the other hand, black magic was those magic spells that were forbidden and downright inhumane since it involved inhumane acts like sacrificing the soul and life of children or torturing others to gather dark miasma and mana.

In Kuroneko’s case, although he called his magic as black magic, it was mostly dark magic since the magic spells in the Duality of Black And White were mostly forbidden magic rather than inhumane magic.

Although, there were magic spells that could be considered black magic in the Duality of Black And White. But even if those black magic spells were present, Kuroneko would rather not use them.

Of course, if push ca to shove, Kuroneko wouldn’t hesitate to use black magic if it was for the sake of protecting Aya and the rest of his teammates.

There were black magic spells that would sacrifice his life in order to pay for the price of using powerful forbidden magic or summoning the avatars of eldritch horrors and outer gods.

Kuroneko would rather not use them since it would spell his doom. He also wasn’t certain if those outer gods would even listen to him so it was only his last resort if he had no other options.

While the team was brainstorming, Weiss was just watching them on the sidelines as usual.

’There’s a different kind of joy when you see your creation being taken seriously by other people. It’s like a form of recognition and it doesn’t feel that bad.’
