In the azure sky, a white figure powerfully flapped its wings, flying forward against the wind.
The violent convection made every inch of progress incredibly difficult.
Lin Yue strained to open his eyes in this gale, looking at the much-diminished ground, observing those mutated creatures moving across this lush yet unfamiliar desert.
"Bai, descend, there’s a shelter just ahead."
He looked at the area map on the system panel; not far from his position, there stood a solitary shelter in the middle of the desert.
There were no red dots representing Survivors near the shelter, so landing there wouldn’t cause any conflict or trouble.
Lin Yue also noticed that Bai was indeed very tired. After all, flying here from the shelter took quite a while, plus the wind was so strong now—they had reached their limit.
"Gawu." Bai slowly spiraled downward, eventually landing on a ground covered in unknown green and purple grass, along with many flowers of the Mad Poison Herb.
There were several circular giant pits here, not deep, but arranged with a certain pattern.
"Footprints of large creatures..." Lin Yue recognized what the footprints of an Ox-Carrier Serpent Dragon looked like, its feet were indeed cylindrical, and just this big.
Looks like the Ox-Carrier Serpent Dragon ca by here.
"Thank you, Bai." Lin Yue took out a Snickers bar, letting Bai replenish so sugar and energy, but then turned to find that Xiao ng was nowhere to be seen.
"This little rascal, why does it never follow orders?" Lin Yue thought of teaching it a lesson to show the warlike little creature the importance of discipline, but suddenly realized Xiao ng was coming out from inside the shelter, carrying sothing blue in its mouth.
"Puchi!" Xiao ng jumped onto Lin Yue’s arm, placing the blue object in his hand.
"Gawu!" Bai understood his master’s intent, yelled at Xiao ng, who then lowered its head and nuzzled Lin Yue’s arm, indicating it knew it was wrong.
But at this mont, Lin Yue was attracted to the blue item.
"Wow, didn’t expect to find an All Things Duplication Coupon here?" He rubbed Xiao ng’s small head in comndation, and Xiao ng obediently let him pet it.
[You received an All Things Duplication Coupon (Resource)]
Huh? Different from before?
[All Things Duplication Coupon (Resource): Can duplicate any resource, including but not limited to single units of food, material, or ore. Liquids cannot be duplicated.]
Hmm... A Resource Duplication Coupon.
That’s unexpected.
Previously, system airdrops were true "All Things Duplication Coupons," able to duplicate anything except design maps, shelters, various creatures, and treasure chests, whereas this version seems to have 90% less capacity, not even water is duplicable.
If water could indeed be duplicated, it would be great.
After all, the instructions don’t specify exactly what a portion of water ans, right?
A ton counts, as does ten tons.
However, Lin Yue does not lack water anyway.
"Xiao ng, next ti don’t go out recklessly without my orders, understood?"
"Puchi." Xiao ng nodded; it seed to comprehend.
Lin Yue didn’t reward it with a Snickers bar, even though it found sothing, insubordination cos first—rewards and penalties should be fair to teach it a lesson.
He glanced at the stone shelter in front of him and then scanned the surroundings.
The number of mutated creatures around seed to be small, almost as if they lost their target without Survivors present, no longer lingering here.
"Gawu." Bai looked at the shelter and pulled it open with giant claws while a peculiar sll wafted out from inside.
Lin Yue put on a gas mask and peered inside.
The interior furniture was generally intact, but it seed that acid rain had soaked the place; wooden furniture showed slight distortions, and the bedding on the bed had grown mold-like materials.
Lin Yue entered and scanned around; nothing worth taking, but after righting a fallen wooden cabinet, he found a dark hole in the ground.
"This is... wait, why is there a sound of water inside?"
"Gawu." Bai’s giant claw rested on Lin Yue’s shoulder, signaling that he shouldn’t go down; it wasn’t safe inside.
The sound of water from the basent...
"Bai, is there acid rain inside?"
"Gawu." Bai nodded.
Lin Yue understood; acid rain flooded this shelter, filling the basent, and even if the flood receded, the water inside wouldn’t easily evaporate, accumulating there for a long ti.
If they rashly entered, a misstep might an falling into a pool of acid rain, leading to a truly "acidic" sensation.
"Puchi!" Xiao ng looked at the hole, then back at Lin Yue, seemingly pleading, its tail wagging downwards.
"Bai, does it want to go down?"
"Gawu." Bai nodded again.
What lies below? Lin Yue cautiously approached the hole to peer inside, suddenly discovering three skeletons stacked on the stairs!
These skeletons were almost halfway subrged in black water, revealing how they t their demise to Lin Yue.
Lin Yue shook his head.
Were they victims of the disaster?
Or instead...
He considered the footprints of the Ox-Carrier Serpent Dragon outside, forming a hypothesis.
Perhaps the Survivors in the shelter heard the giant steps of the colossal creature like thunder, hurriedly hiding inside, only to succumb to fever and lose mobility.
Trapped in the shelter, unable to escape, acid rain unexpectedly arrived, eventually creating a flood that subrged the shelter and swallowed three people in the basent.
Of course, that was rely a hypothesis.
The actual situation remains unknown to Lin Yue.
"Xiao ng, did you find anything? Go ahead, be careful."
"Puchi." Xiao ng complied, agilely running down, finally carrying an item back.
"So, it was this." Lin Yue noticed that it was another blue item, but not a duplication coupon, rather a design map.
[You received a Shelter Design Map X1]
Precious Shelter Design Map.
Although he already owned a main shelter of 520 square ters and an 60-square-ter Alloy Shelter, he welcod additional Shelter Design Maps.
Lin Yue gathered the surrounding furniture and stowed it into the Storage Space, then trashed the debris on the survival point platform to acquire a few survival points, before leaving with Bai and Xiao ng.
Ti to take off; although originally intended as a rest stop, it yielded unexpected finds.
[Would you like to fold the unmanned shelter?]
The system voice rang, asking.
"Yes." Lin Yue replied expressionlessly, as death extinguishes the light of life; the remaining items should be left for the living to use for a better existence.
[Congratulations, you received Shelter Design Map X2]
A white glow flashed; before Lin Yue, Bai, and Xiao ng appeared a pit several ters deep.
Inside the pit, deadly acid rain swirled, carrying with it three skeletons of Survivors, bobbing up and down in the current.
The end for Survivors, too, is a sad song.
Bai spread its wings once more, and as their elevation ascended, the large pit shrank into a distant black dot, ultimately vanishing in their wake.
