Chapter 746: Chapter 746: The First Siege of the Holy City in History
The City Lord, accompanied by a group of ministers, hurriedly ran out, just to see several light balls flying over their heads.
The light balls hit so of the buildings, and as a result, those buildings reinforced with the strength of the Earth Elent shattered a large chunk instantly. The largest building had an entire wall blown open.
“These damned commoners, they actually dare to join forces with the Undead to attack us.”
“And those Undead, daring to ddle in our Beastn’s war, I must notify everyone else to join forces in wiping out these damned Undead.”
The people around were filled with righteous indignation, after all, the battle had reached their own doorstep.
However, there were also so who knew that it was impossible to completely eradicate the Undead, even if they themselves did not wish to do so. Still, they would take part in leaving behind so mindless Undead creatures.
After all, only through contracts with the Undead could they acquire power that was more in tune with their own.
Even these great families had their own issues. So had already begun their decline, and finding a replacent was very important for them.
Even if there were no issues within their own family, there were many extended family branches or related families that also required strength. The Undead were perfect for bolstering their ranks.
So did not wish to see these people rise, but others were hopeful for their growth.
A group of people, each harboring their own thoughts, quickly arrived at the city walls.
Once on the walls, they found it was far safer than so places inside the city, because there was an Elental Shield in place. Before breaking through this shield, the walls were unlikely to suffer catastrophic damage.
As they reached the top, they saw many Undead Creatures pressing towards them, along with catapult-like machines that were able to launch Elental Light Balls without anyone operating them.
“Those catapults, they couldn’t also be a type of Undead Creatures, could they?”
With that remark, many gazed upon the Elental Catapults with greed in their eyes.
As is widely known, after contracting with the Undead, it becos very easy to transform oneself with high compatibility, but there’s one issue: the absence of Elental Power. They were all too familiar and fixated on Elental Power.
But if those Elental Catapults were also Undead, then after making a contract with them, might it be possible to retain their strengths while gaining an additional kind of Elental Ability?
And looking at this Elental Ability, it had a very long range and great power.
If they were to control it themselves, perhaps the effect would be even better.
Controlling the Power of Death was beyond their experience, but Elental Power was different. With years of research, their understanding and Secret Techniques regarding Elental Power were unmatched by many.
Over at Cold Ice City, their control over the Cold Ice Elent was the strongest in the world.
So, even those of the City Lord’s lineage couldn’t help but light up at the sight of those Elental Catapults. Especially those launching Cold Ice Elent Balls, they wished they could claim them right away.
“Increase firepower suppression, we must push them back.”
“But, City Lord, our range of attack is not as far as theirs.”
Those on the city wall spoke out, noting the challenge of striking at such a distance. Even if so could attack that far, they would be blocked by other Undead, who were fearless and strong.
The City Lord turned back to look at those casting various spells and, gritting his teeth, insisted, “Increase the firepower control, even if it ans drawing more power from the Elent Pool.”
Then the City Lord continued, “Notify the cavalry, find an opportunity to break out and try to eliminate those catapults.”
Seeing that those around seed to want to say sothing, the City Lord almost muttered to himself, “A portion of those catapults is enough, don’t you think too many would be a threat? So many pose a great threat to us.”
Then it beca clear, his words had a double aning.
Ostensibly, he ant that so many catapults posed a significant threat to their city’s defenses. In reality, he was suggesting that only a portion of those special kinds of catapults were needed for contracting, which would be sufficient.
If too many were kept, certainly many people would form contracts. That would an their advantage would vanish.
Without that advantage, whether they could overpower the commoners was uncertain.
After all, their true enemies were not the Undead, but the vast number of commoners and small families who had ford contracts with the Undead. That was the prevailing thought during these tis.
It wasn’t long before the city gates opened and a large number of cavalry charged out.
The soldiers atop the cavalry and their mounts displayed partial Elentalization abilities, indicating the mounts had also been transford—a technology not achievable overnight.
“They’re coming out, we should also intensify our attack.”
The Commander signaled with a wave of his hand, and the rear cavalry charged. Indeed, they had cavalry, but did the Undead not?
As it turned out, not only did the Undead have cavalry, but their strength was greater and their types more varied. Even so Beastn who had sided with the Undead charged out, figuring they might as well edge in on the action.
As the two cavalcade’s clashed, the original Elental Cavalry unleashed their powers.
However, they soon realized that the strength of their adversaries was far greater than they had imagined. Now, breaking through the enemy ranks to eliminate the catapults was out of the question, and even ensuring their own ranks were not overrun was challenging.
“Damn it, how are they so strong? Where did all these powerful Undead co from?”
In their minds, even the powerful Elental Race could hardly produce so many formidable Elental Beings, let alone such a well-disciplined army.
Yet, there they were, this army, materialized before them, and enemy, at that.
The trump cards of Cold Ice City, their elite troops, failed to freeze the enemy and were instead broken by the charge.
The City Lord instantly realized the dire situation, for this elite force was composed of the finest offspring from the noble families of Holy City. Should they suffer heavy losses, as City Lord, he would be held accountable.
After all, it was his orders that had been followed, and even if it wasn’t his fault, soone had to take the bla.
But soon he had no more ti to ponder this, as he saw a large number of dark shadows flying over.
“Not good, Flying Undead, and there are so many of them, dragon-shaped too.” According to so reports, they knew the strongest among the Undead were these. Though their compatibility was low, their strength was absolutely top-notch.
