Chapter 547: 544, Battle of the Macaque Forest_1

In the eastern part of the Pandan Empire, outside the Macaque Forest, there was Misty Village.

More than sixty Pandan and over four hundred players ford three battle lines outside of Misty Village, resisting the invasion of the macaque army.

However, there were too many macaques in this attack. The defense line ford by the players and Pandan could not withstand the macaques’ onslaught, and the entire line was torn apart, creating nurous gaps.

Agile and swift macaques seized these gaps, screeching as they broke through the defense lines and ran without hesitating towards the village in the rear. The players and Pandan could only watch helplessly as this happened.

“Captain Green, I fear we might fail this mission.” One player lanted to their captain Green Gun.

“Alas, there’s nothing we can do.” Green Gun was a middle-aged man in his forties and the captain of their group of five hundred rcenaries, known as Green Fairy Tale.

He sighed in resignation, “The Pandan have shifted their main defensive force to the western front, leaving the eastern front severely underdefended. It was only a matter of ti before we were breached.”

At this mont, a young female mage dressed in red spoke up, “But Uncle Green, this is already the sixth village we’ve lost. If we lose any more, our mission rewards might go into the negatives!”

Alas!

Alas!

Sighs echoed in the ranks.

Everyone didn’t want to stick with this worthless task and instead go to the western front where the rewards were lavish.

But seeing the Pandan guards standing firm and hearing the cries of the Pandan civilians being robbed by the macaques, they couldn’t bring themselves to leave.

Once they left, the macaques would swarm in like a natural disaster, leading to nurous Pandan losing their hos and lives.

Just as Green Gun was about to speak, a giant azure portal sprung open right in front of them!

The portal expanded rapidly. It began as rely a dot and in less than five seconds, it grew to forty ters wide and sixty ters tall.

“Charge! Wipe out the macaques!”

“Pandan will never be slaves!”

Shouts of battle cries echoed from the portal.

Players poured out of the portal like a tide, with a shower of arrows and magic raining down on the macaques.

The arrival of these heavenly reinforcents brought a pleasant surprise for the mbers of the Green Fairy Tale rcenary group!

“Thank goodness, we have reinforcents!”

“Where did these reinforcents co from? This couldn’t be more tily!”

“Let’s ask soone first.”

Green Gun stepped forward, intending to approach one of the players who had just erged from the portal.

But after taking just two steps, he stopped dead in his tracks. He didn’t need to ask anymore; he had found his answer.

Because at that mont, a ga alert sound chid in his ear.

“Ding. You have triggered the campaign mission [Battle of the Macaque Forest]. Do you accept?”

“Accept.”

“Ding. Congratulations on triggering the large-scale campaign [Battle of the Macaque Forest].”

“Mission Briefing: The rear of the Pandan Empire is exposed, allowing the Macaque tribe, who live in the forest, to take advantage of this opportunity and launch an all-out attack on the Pandan villages.

The Special Envoy of the Goldfinch Empire, [Nesis], has recognized the potential threat of the Macaque tribe and decided to launch a counterattack, driving the Macaque tribe back into the forest!”

“Campaign Victory Condition: Drive the Macaque forces back into the forest. Progress (0%)”

“Campaign Reward: Rewards are given based on the percentage of progress!”

And this wasn’t the only mission.

After accepting the campaign mission, Green Gun and the other players in the group began receiving prompt after prompt for various side missions.

These side missions ranged from attacking and killing macaque forces to putting out fires in the rear, rescuing the injured, and minimizing losses.

These side missions had one thing in common – the rewards were extraordinarily generous!

The players in the Green rcenary Group found that the rewards for the side missions arranged by Boss Ke were at least three tis higher than the rewards for their original missions, and they were not too difficult to complete!

This greatly motivated the players of the Green rcenary Group!

“Let’s go, let’s kill the macaques!”

“Drive the macaques back into the forest!”

The players in the rcenary group also yelled, their spirits lifted, and the horn of counterattack was sounded.

The sa thing was happening in several other Pandan villages around.

Su Yu had set up eight giant portals in the front lines, each transporting ten thousand players. As soon as the players arrived, they imdiately launched a counterattack against the macaques.

As for Su Yu himself, he activated his Invisibility Skill in the midst of issuing various side missions to the players, and stealthily flew towards the Macaque Forest.

The Macaque tribe had quite a few artifacts!

Perhaps because fools are often lucky, the artifacts of the macaque tribe were not inferior to those possessed by humans in terms of functionality!

So Su Yu sneaked into the Macaque Forest to see if he could “borrow” one or two artifacts from the Macaques.

In the forest.

The commander of the Macaque army was a top-tier rank six Macaque, at this level, its intelligence and wisdom were fully comparable to humans.

Through the bloodline sensing of his clan, he felt a sudden increase in pressure at the front line – likely the enemies’ reinforcents had arrived.

So, he howled twice, leading the high-ranking macaques under his command towards the front line, ready to personally fight the enemy.

The pathway of these high-ranking macaques led directly to the area with the highest number of players, precisely where Green rcenary Group was located – Misty Village.

The players at Misty Village were jubilant with their victorious slaughter; the macaques were retreating under their assault. It seed as if they could push them back into the forest, but then the high-ranking macaques arrived!

Upon reaching the frontline, the macaque commander didn’t rashly attack. Instead, he assessed the current situation first.

There were more macaques than foreign adventurers, but because the macaques had no coordination amongst themselves and simply fought with brute force alone, they were being severely beaten.

However, the macaque commander didn’t mind.

While he directed the high-ranking macaques of ranks five and six to eliminate the players, he placed an artifact, [Simian War God Statue], given by the great king, at his feet.

The [Simian War God Statue] was a two-ter tall statue of a macaque wearing chain gold armor and holding a tal rod inscribed with [Sea Stabilizing Divine Needle].

The war god statue was crafted by the master sculptors of the macaque tribe to commorate the first Macaque King, Sun Wukong.

When the [War God Statue] was activated by the macaque commander, layers of red light radiated from the statue, empowering all the macaques present.

Strengthened by the red light, the bodies of the frontline macaques imdiately swelled by 30%, and their strength, defense, vitality, recovery power, and speed increased by over 50%!

The players found that what they could previously cut like tofu had suddenly turned into iron. Their attacks were significantly less effective, while a simple swipe from a macaque took away half of their health!

Plus, high-ranking macaques were racing towards them from the sky. All the players realized—things were not looking good!
