Chapter 122: Chapter 119: Underground City Adventure, a Class Changer Appears (Part 2)

’Is it this ridiculous? Isn’t this thod of advancent a bit too much like a ga?’

York found it sowhat difficult to understand.

It was also incredibly strange.

’Why is the style of this world so bizarre?’

All resources could be obtained by killing monsters in the Underground City. You could even grow stronger rapidly just by continuously killing Demons in the Underground City...

’This thod of growth seems much faster than the traditional advancent thods on the Oakland Continent!’

But the death rate was indeed quite high, too.

After all, the so-called challenge of the Elite Demons was the only upward path that all Adventurers and Professionals had to take.

Looking at it this way, York understood!

In the early stages of the Underground City, it might indeed be easier for these adventurous Professionals to advance than on the Oakland Continent.

However, the death rate from challenging Elite Demons was definitely no lower than the death rate from Blood Exchange and Breaking Limits when advancing from Low Tier to Middle Tier on the Oakland Continent.

’Indeed, no matter which world you’re in, you have to gamble with your life to obtain Extraordinary power!’

Besides, below Level Ten, as long as you didn’t challenge a Demon room, you couldn’t be considered a Transcendent in the strict sense. At best, they were comparable to so powerful rcenary Soldiers, or perhaps even Warlock Apprentices.

"Alright, I have a general understanding of the situation now!"

"Thank you both for clearing up my confusion."

"Right, soldier, you may stand aside for now. After the others co out, I, the City Lord, will reward everyone based on their rits."

After York finished speaking to the two old n and the soldier, the surroundings fell silent once more.

However, during this process, as the onlooking soldier erged and presented everything he had acquired, York’s Knight’s Squires and so of the Transcendent Nobility and rchants from the City Lord’s Mansion began discussing it in low voices.

York didn’t stop his subordinates from talking.

Instead, he was pondering how many of the first one hundred people sent into the Underground City would erge with a Warrior class.

According to Chuck and the other elders, the class one awakened in the Underground City was actually predictable.

For example, soone who had long practiced warrior techniques, or even soone who could naturally sense Magic Power, had a very high probability of awakening a combat class.

It would be a Warrior or a Mage, nothing else.

Likewise, those with assassination skills were more likely to obtain the Thief class, and so on.

As for life-skill classes,

they were often awakened by people with so basic knowledge of dicine, or even Commoners, who were brought into the Underground City by combat Professionals in exchange for a bounty.

Life-skill classes were not weak.

In a party exploring the Underground City, a team with life-skill Professionals would have a greatly increased chance of obtaining dicinal materials, food ingredients, or even Magic Plant seeds from killed monsters, and the effects would vary.

Among them, a low-end Professional like an awakened Farr didn’t need to be strong. As long as they planted grain normally, the yield would inevitably be a bountiful harvest.

Barring natural disasters, when a Kingdom had enough Farr-class Professionals, it often ant that the Kingdom would not easily suffer from a lack of food or clothing.

And because of this,

before the Giant Demon invasion on the Karte Continent, the Human Race was the sole Overlord of this world.

They were even incredibly prosperous.

Of course, civil wars between Human Kings and Empires were frequent, and there were even crises where Demons surged out from the Underground City.

But these crises were only temporary.

The humans of the Karte Continent all believed that everything was rely a trial from the Deities.

As long as the trial ended, humanity would quickly prosper again.

And so, this cycle of ups and downs continued until the Deities vanished and the Giant Demons invaded.

Only then was the symbiotic ecosystem between the Karte Continent’s bizarre Underground City and the Human Race completely destroyed.

In short, from York’s perspective, the situation on the Karte Continent was utterly strange.

There were no wars with Alien Races, but there were repeated human civil wars waged to please the Deities.

’Can the Deities of this world really be considered Deities? This hasn’t changed from ancient tis to the present.’

’Aren’t Deities supposed to be great beings who lead their people toward strength and prosperity?’

’How could they use humans for their own amusent?’

In York’s understanding, the Deities of the various races on the Oakland Continent had been continuously fighting cruel divine wars since ancient tis for the survival of their people.

Their only goal was to ensure their mortal Bloodlines and subjects had their own space to survive.

’The Deities of the Oakland Continent risk their lives to fight for their people’s living space?’

’While the Deities of the Karte Continent are enjoying themselves and having humans entertain them?’

’Different worlds, different Deities... the disparity is...’

York didn’t know what to say.

’But, if the Human Race of the Oakland Continent one day beca the overlords of the world and had no more enemies, what would the Deities of Oakland beco like then?’

York felt that it was truly hard to say.

Besides, apart from his own Your Majesty, he hadn’t seen a single trace of any other Deities on this continent.

Therefore, York didn’t dwell on it. ’In this life, just managing what’s in front of you is hard enough.’

’Who has ti to think about so much?’

For now, York had assigned the one hundred adventurers sent into the Underground City, consisting of various mbers of the City Defense Army, in batches according to their strength.

The weakest batch was comprised of soldiers like Wood, who only had basic marching and combat abilities.

The strongest were three n on the Edge of Entry Tier.

Two of them were rcenaries York favored, candidates to beco Knight’s Squires.

As for the other one, it was none other than Graen, a native human who possessed so of the local warrior techniques.

York had the highest hopes for these three.

As for the others, York had only one requirent for them.

Don’t be reckless. After an hour, if their stamina was low, they should do their best to return.

York placed great importance on this first expedition into the Underground City and didn’t want to see too many casualties.

But York also understood human nature.

Among these hundred who were willing to risk their lives and had voluntarily joined the City Defense Army, there would surely be many who would try their best to achieve greater results.

Thus, after an hour and a half, fewer than thirty soldiers had trickled out.

However, as ti went on, after about three hours, the number of returnees surpassed eighty-five.

Those who had not yet appeared by this point were either very strong, or very weak and had already died on their adventure.

Faced with the current situation, York simply continued to wait in silence.

Just like that, another seven people appeared one after another.

And without exception, these seven had all reached the level of a Level Four or Five combat Professional in just a single adventure.

Finally, after the fifth hour, the maximum ti one could spend on the first floor of the Underground City was up.

And this ti, a total of four people were teleported out at once.

One was a soldier who didn’t look particularly strong—Level Five.

Two were fairly strong rcenaries, one at Level Seven and the other at Level Eight.

The last one was Graen.

But at this mont, Graen’s armor was covered in blood, and there was even a deep scratch across his face.

He was half-kneeling within the Magic Array, panting heavily.

But when he raised his head to look at City Lord York and the elder Chuck, a wide smile spread across his face.

"My Lord, I have not failed my mission! Graen has successfully changed his class!"

"???"

York was startled.

Elder Chuck, his heart aching, rushed forward.

"Graen, are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

"It’s your first ti in the Underground City! How could you dare to challenge an Elite Demon?!"

"Waiting for the next opportunity would have been better than this!"

"You foolish boy!"

Graen looked at Chuck, who had co forward to help him up, and forced a smile as he panted.

"There will always be opportunities, but who knows when the next one will be."

"I was fortunate that the City Lord saw potential in . Since I was able to enter this first ti, I had to produce corresponding results!"

"The world is already so cruel. If no one is willing to risk their life, if everyone just wants to scrape by, then how can we even talk about taking back the world?"

"Well said! Very well said."

York looked at the Graen before him.

His eyes were filled with admiration!

Setting other things aside, while there was an elent of chance in how York himself had obtained his Divine Favor, wasn’t it also sothing he had risked his life for?

If he hadn’t risked exploring new territory, how could he possibly have received Divine Favor?

Therefore, looking at Graen now,

York imdiately announced that everyone was to return to the City Lord’s Mansion. At the sa ti, he also declared that a lavish banquet would be arranged to welco back all the warriors.

Later, once he had tallied the gains and losses from this expedition, York would announce the existence of the Underground City to all his subjects.

At the sa ti, after the City Guard Army had completed all their batches of adventures in the Underground City, he would also encourage Commoners and slaves to sign up for expeditions.
