"There’s also..."

At this point, the village chief’s wife suddenly stopped speaking, as if she had stumbled upon sothing unspeakable.

Su Yan looked at her and said calmly, "What else?"

The village chief’s wife took another deep breath and continued, her face etched with guilt, "The little girl you asked about earlier... she was the poor soul this beast on the ground abducted last year to be his daughter-in-law."

"I didn’t want her to end up trapped in this village for the rest of her life like , so I secretly helped her escape."

As she spoke, the village chief’s wife glared at her husband on the ground with hatred. "But while she was running away, this beast found out and imdiately chased after her with several other beasts from the village."

"By the next day, I received the terrible news: the little girl had fallen from the mountain and died."

Upon hearing this, Sister Zhou couldn’t help but say sympathetically, "Such a poor little girl."

At this mont, deep in her heart, she was praying that this little girl wasn’t the culprit behind the village’s Demons and Monsters incidents. Otherwise, she feared she wouldn’t be able to bring herself to do what was necessary.

"Sister Zhou, call the authorities and report the human trafficking incidents in this village," Su Yan instructed.

With that, Su Yan turned and left.

Just monts ago, he had sensed a faint aura of a Yin entity emanating from outside. He had to go out and investigate.

Seeing this, Sister Zhou also hurried out, calling, "Su Yan, where are you going?!"

However, when she stepped out of the earthen house a mont later, Su Yan was nowhere to be seen; he had vanished without a trace.

Left with no other choice, she took out her phone to call the authorities, just as Su Yan had instructed. However, as soon as she tried to dial, she rembered—the village had no signal. The call wouldn’t go through at all.

With no other option, Sister Zhou had to leave the village to make the call. She climbed onto her off-road motorcycle and rode so distance away, hoping to find a signal for her phone.

「Shortly after she left.」

The village chief’s wife silently picked up a chair. Expressionless, she walked over to her husband and stopped in front of him.

Then, towering over him, she stared at his legs and said, "You were the one who broke my legs, you beast."

With that, she lifted the chair high and brought it crashing down on the middle-aged man’s leg. SMACK!

Then, a sickening SNAP echoed.

The middle-aged man’s leg bone fractured, and blood instantly stained his trousers.

In an instant, an indescribable pain engulfed the man’s entire body.

However, he was unable to utter any cry of pain. Su Yan’s recently released Overbearing presence still weighed heavily upon him, immobilizing him to the point where he couldn’t even make a sound.

Seeing her husband’s agonized yet silent face, the village chief’s wife let out a silent laugh.

Then, she raised the chair again, her gaze shifting to her husband’s other leg.

That first strike was vengeance for her broken legs from all those years ago. This next one was for the nearly twenty years of dostic abuse she had endured.

SNAP!

With another sickening crack, the middle-aged man’s second leg shattered.

Still, the village chief’s wife wasn’t finished. She quickly raised the chair once more. Her gaze settled on his other leg. This ti, she was seeking justice for the nearly twenty years of her youth she had lost.

「anwhile.」

The corpse of the village chief’s son, which had been lying face-up on the bed, had at so unknown point turned its head to face its parents. Its vacant, lifeless eyes stared unmovingly as the mother furiously smashed the chair against the father.

...

「Elsewhere.」

Su Yan, who had just left the earthen house, had followed the faint aura of the Yin entity to a dense bamboo grove, where he now stopped. The elusive aura of the Yin entity had suddenly vanished completely.

Was that Yin entity’s aura deliberately luring out here...?

At this thought, Su Yan instantly grew more cautious. He tensed up, his senses on high alert for any movent, the slightest rustle of wind through grass.

And just at that mont, the little girl he had seen outside the earthen house earlier suddenly appeared before him, a smile on her face.

Behind the little girl stood a figure he knew all too well.

"Xu Xinyi?"

Seeing the strear he had t two days ago at the Luo City Mass Grave, Su Yan was montarily stunned.
