Lin Xiao’s condition looked terrible. If he stayed like this any longer, sothing was bound to go wrong.
“Lin Xiao, leave the rest to us. Just sit down and rest.”
“Yeah, let us handle it from here. We’ll take care of Ling Xi.”
Zhang Nu and Liu Hai hurriedly spoke to him. Lin Xiao’s face was deathly pale, as if ten years of life essence had been drained from him.
Hearing their words, Lin Xiao nodded. Zhang Nu and the others were Ling Xi’s companions, just like him. They would do their best to save her. Ling Xi would be safe.
“Then I’ll leave her to you. I just passed ten years’ worth of true qi into her. But she still hasn’t woken up—it must be that her injuries are too severe. I don’t know what Madam Fu was thinking, but she let Ling Xi get hurt this badly.”
As he said this, a flash of ruthlessness passed through Lin Xiao’s eyes.
Seeing that look, Zhang Nu imdiately realized Lin Xiao might hold Madam Fu responsible. But this wasn’t intentional, and Ling Xi herself wouldn’t bla her.
“This can’t be blad on Madam Fu. It all happened too suddenly. I already asked her—Ling Xi tried to take her talisman. That talisman was given to her as a child by a venerable monk. Whenever it encounters a YaoGuai, it automatically repels them to protect its owner.”
Though Lin Xiao nodded at Zhang Nu’s explanation, he clearly didn’t accept it. In his heart, he still believed this injury was no accident—otherwise Ling Xi wouldn’t be so gravely hurt.
“Forget it for now. Just focus on treating Ling Xi! If sothing really happens to her, what are we supposed to do?”
Zhang Nu patted his back reassuringly.
“Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to her. Not while we’re here.”
Lin Xiao nodded again, his gaze tightening on Ling Xi.
At this mont, Zhang Nu and the others gathered around her.
“Zhao Yang, help her sit up.”
Zhao Yang nodded and carefully lifted Ling Xi. Her face was ghostly pale, her lips drained of all color.
Frowning, Zhang Nu studied her. He couldn’t understand why things had co to this. She looked so fragile, as if suffering from an unimaginably heavy blow. Could the talisman really be that powerful?
He placed his hand on her wrist to check her pulse.
Imdiately, he realized Ling Xi’s pulse was nothing like a human’s. After all, she was a YaoGuai, and he knew very little about YaoGuai physiology.
“Does anyone know what a YaoGuai’s pulse should feel like? I know a human’s, but not theirs. We need to understand her condition first before we can treat her.”
But everyone shook their heads. If even Zhang Nu didn’t know, then the others certainly wouldn’t.
“If even you don’t know, how could we? So what now? What’s going on with Ling Xi’s body?”
The group was at a loss, utterly helpless.
Lin Xiao, however, could never just stand by and watch. He had to find soone who could help Ling Xi.
“You stay here. I’ll go outside and drag a few doctors back.”
Zhang Nu almost laughed in exasperation.
“Where are you going to find doctors right now? And even if you do, they only know how to treat humans. Not one of them can treat Ling Xi. Wait—don’t you still have a teleportation talisman? Use it to summon so of Ling Xi’s YaoGuai friends. They might be able to help.”
At that, Lin Xiao imdiately reacted and pulled a teleportation talisman from his sleeve. Fortunately, he still had a few left—otherwise, they would be in real trouble.
“Wait for . I’ll bring back doctors soon.”
The mont he finished speaking, Lin Xiao vanished.
Zhang Nu and the others sat back down, worry etched deep between their brows. None of them knew when Lin Xiao would return.
