Miles Carter and Skylar stood silently, watching as the beacon fire was slowly ignited.
They were trying to send a distress signal to their teammates. When they had initially chosen the mountain area as their starting point, Miles Carter had a deeper consideration in mind—just in case sothing went wrong, their teammates, located in the high mountain region, might be able to see the beacon fire they ignited.
They had used materials that could burn for a long ti and covered the flas with leaves that would emit large amounts of black smoke. This was a simple yet common distress signal.
Miles Carter had only lit the fire as a precaution. Deep down, before actually engaging with Charles in battle, he had felt certain that he would never reach the point of needing to use the beacon for help.
But now, he had no other options.
Although Charles had almost run out of arrows and was unlikely to risk a close-quarters fight with them, Miles Carter wasn't sure about this assumption. He didn't know what other thods Charles might still be able to use.
Charles had already shown so many unexpected abilities: his long-range attacks with the superior arrows, the arrows that could change direction mid-flight, and the way he neutralized the Doom skill of the Death's Night Raven.
At this mont, Miles Carter felt no sense of security. He felt like he might fall into the shadow of death at any mont.
This was the feeling Charles had given him—danger, helplessness, and unease.
Only by reuniting with his teammates and utilizing their mystical beasts and skills to completely shake off Charles could he regain the calmness he once had. Only then could he complete the plan and turn the tables to kill Charles!
That's right—now, Miles Carter had co to view killing Charles as a reversal of fortune. He no longer underestimated Charles as he had at the start, thinking that they would surely win the battle.
Now, he was even worried that sothing unexpected might happen and cause the plan to fail.
As he watched the thick black smoke rise into the air, Skylar sighed. He silently observed the deep in thought Miles Carter and suddenly felt like he didn't recognize the person anymore.
Strange. Very strange.
In his mory, Miles Carter had always been soone who exuded absolute confidence in everything. But now, what was Miles Carter? Ripped clothes, body covered in wounds, and even his glasses were gone.
Skylar glanced down at himself. He had no right to say anything, as he was in just as bad a condition—equally miserable, equally disheveled.
There was no other reason for it, except that they had encountered a person who was like a monster—Charles!
Miles Carter weakly said, "Let's go. If we're lucky, Serena and the others should be able to see the signal soon. Once we et up with them, Charles won't be able to chase us anymore."
Skylar nodded. He didn't want to say anything now. The thought of engaging in close combat with Charles was slowly fading from his mind. He only wanted to escape Charles's pursuit!
However, just at that mont, a familiar sound echoed. The two instinctively scattered, running frantically toward the distance.
"Boom!"
The sound of an arrow exploding rang out.
By the ti Charles arrived at the spot where Miles Carter and Skylar had been, the black smoke had already risen above the trees and was drifting in the air.
Charles frowned slightly. The ti he had spent making arrows had caused a delay, and now Miles Carter and Skylar had chosen to light a beacon fire and use the black smoke as a distress signal. Once their teammates saw it, they would likely rush over quickly.
With all five of them together, the tactics they could employ would be nurous.
At that point, Charles would be at a slight disadvantage, forced into a more passive role, only able to harass them. He would use a strategy of retreating when the enemy advanced and advancing when the enemy retreated, in order to drag the fight out and buy ti for Luna and the others.
Charles took a deep breath, thinking to himself, "Let's see. If I'm lucky, this black smoke might not be noticed by Kingston's genius Beast Masters. I might still have ti."
The next mont, Charles's figure disappeared from the spot. He had to make the most of the ti he had.
anwhile, in the high mountain region, Serena was leading the remaining two Kingston Beast Masters toward the central canyon area. Their pace wasn't very fast, and they hadn't covered much ground.
The Kingston genius Beast Master, who had previously publicly provoked and mocked Charles online, stopped with so fatigue. He turned to Serena, a Level 5 Beast Master, and said:
"Serena, we've been moving for two hours now. Let's rest for a bit."
Serena frowned. They had already rested three tis along the way. She replied, "Evan, you should be able to keep going. We need to reach the central canyon area quickly."
Evan responded carelessly, "There's no rush. Captain Miles Carter and Skylar are off on their own. They'll definitely be holding off Genosha's Beast Masters. They've probably already finished the fight by now."
Another team mber chid in, "Yeah, the captain and Skylar are so strong. Genosha's Luna and that Charles—when they face the captain, they won't have any ability to resist. They've probably already been killed by now."
Serena thought for a mont and realized that the two of them had a point. She knew Miles Carter and Skylar's strength well—they were much stronger than her.
If the two of them set out together, and as long as nothing unexpected happened, Genosha wouldn't stand a chance!
With that in mind, Serena turned to Evan and the other team mber and said, "Alright, let's rest for another half hour."
Soon, the three of them found a spot and began to rest casually. No one was keeping watch over their surroundings, and they were chatting easily, discussing what kind of welco and treatnt they would receive once they got back to Kingston.
Especially Evan, who laughed and said, "Once we get back, I'm definitely going to mock that so-called hero Charles on the internet again. Even though by then, he'll already be dead..."
Just thinking about how the Genosha people would feel upset and sad about Charles's death made Evan laugh even more.
But soon, his smile froze.
In his line of sight, he faintly saw a black smoke rising in the distance.
Evan instinctively rubbed his eyes, doubting whether he had seen it correctly.
His action puzzled his teammates. The two others followed Evan's gaze and saw the black smoke in the distance as well.
The easy, cheerful atmosphere vanished, replaced by tension and confusion.
Serena instinctively spoke up, "Is that black smoke a distress signal from the captain and the others?"
Evan was sowhat doubtful and hesitated before responding, "I don't think so. Maybe there's a fire over there, and sothing that releases a lot of smoke got accidentally ignited."
To be honest, he couldn't bring himself to believe that Miles Carter and Skylar were asking for help.
Serena shook her head and gave the order, "Stop resting. Head in that direction quickly. It could be that the captain and the others are dealing with a powerful ferocious beast and need our help!"
"Move quickly, don't waste ti!"
Soon, the three of them started heading toward the location of the black smoke. Along the way, Evan muttered quietly, "They must have run into so unexpected situation. It can't be that Genosha's Luna and Charles are too strong, forcing the captain and the others to ask for help, right?"
Serena responded directly, "That's almost impossible, but no matter the reason, we need to move faster."
The scene of the remaining three genius Beast Masters from Kingston in action was quickly spotted by Flint, who was conducting the live comntary.
Flint sighed and spoke to the viewers in the live stream: "It seems like Lady Luck isn't on Charles's side. If Serena and the others had moved as quickly as Luna's group, not resting much, they absolutely wouldn't have seen the black smoke Miles Carter and Skylar created."
"Charles's luck is a bit bad, or maybe Miles Carter and Skylar just have better luck."
The situation was becoming quite clear now, and many viewers could understand. As soon as Miles Carter and Skylar reunited with their teammates, Charles would no longer have much hope of killing them.
Kingston viewers: "Thank goodness. If Serena and the others hadn't slowed down, Miles Carter and Skylar would have been finished!"
"What do you an 'thank goodness'? Miles Carter and Skylar are useless, and Charles is all alone!"
"Shut up, Charles has all these unfair advantages. Miles Carter and Skylar can't do anything about it. If you're so brave, go face Charles yourself."
"Exactly! Don't just talk! If you had to face Charles, you'd probably wet your pants from fear!"
For so reason—maybe because of the imnse pressure Charles had put on the Kingston viewers—they began arguing among themselves, leading to internal insults and disputes!
The bickering among Kingston viewers lasted for a while before quickly dying down.
At this mont, Charles was still chasing after Miles Carter and Skylar, and not far ahead, Serena and the remaining two genius Beast Masters from Kingston were quickly heading toward the group.
The five genius Beast Masters from Kingston were about to et in front of Charles!
This scene imdiately captured the attention of all the viewers, including Flint. For a mont, in the live stream with millions of viewers, barely anyone was sending comnts. Everyone was focused on how Charles would respond.
Once Miles Carter and Skylar reunited with their teammates, if Charles showed any sign of weakness, it would be over for him!
Soon, the sound of the arrows Charles had been firing, exploding around Miles Carter and Skylar, reached Serena's ears.
