Steven promptly turned off his phone without lifting his head.

"Show them out."

Zane heard the command and directly guided Mona, who was still trying to negotiate, to the door.

On the other hand, Mona was still in shock. The child in the photo on Steven’s phone looked so much like the one John had shown her yesterday!

Unfortunately, she had only taken a swift glance at it just to placate John, so she did not see it properly.

But that should be impossible, right? She had heard that Steven’s child was a boy, while John always said Emma was a girl instead.

Could it be her nerves playing tricks on her and making her see things?

She shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it for so long before looking at Zane.

Amidst her helplessness, she asked him, "Why is Mr. Lawrence refusing to cooperate with ?"

Zane glanced at her and replied, "If the Anderson family wants to monopolize the costics industry, they need to have truly good products. We don’t rely on political corruption; our boss doesn’t engage in that.

"I advise you to take care of your own family matters before you try to start a collaboration with us."

Feeling frustrated, Mona returned ho. She couldn’t figure out what Steven’s intentions were.

Business was business; a governnt monopoly could make them endless money.

Rumors had it that Steven wasn’t a saint, so why was he being so righteous now?

As she pondered, she received a ssage on her phone. It was from John.

[Honey, don’t forget what I asked you yesterday~]

This man doesn’t even help her out and only causes problems instead.

Mona frowned and opened Emma’s photo.

The more she looked, the more familiar it beca until it matched the screensaver she recalled from Steven’s phone.

This was obviously the sa child!

She smacked her forehead.

There had always been families who announced the wrong gender of a child on purpose, with this being a thod to protect their child from being targeted by people with bad intentions.

It seed like what Zane had ntioned today about quality issues was just nonsense; the real reason they refused to cooperate might have sothing to do with the child!

Over at the kindergarten, just after John had sent Mona a ssage, he looked at Emma smugly.

In his mind, he already had an answer. Since his simple investigation showed no familial link between Niki and Emma, he thought it was probably just a coincidence that Emma could bring Niki around with her. However, anything deeper to it would have to be dug out under Mona’s investigation.

Despite that, if the two actually had a close relationship, Emma wouldn’t be such a newbie at Taekwondo. She should have already gathered a pile of dals by now.

He couldn’t brutally discipline her, but hosting a teammate practice session where they could fight against each other should be fine.

With soone like Emma, who had a petite fra, she wouldn’t be able to last against Kenny’s kicks.

Thinking about this, he addressed the little ones in the classroom, "Now, we will begin actual combat practice. Emma, you pair up with Kenny. Kenny, prepare to attack."

This so-called pairing was just another way of becoming the other person’s punching bag—a partner who could only block and not retaliate.

Emma obediently walked over, knowing practice required partners. Previously, Cecilia and Niki had both cooperated in doing this with her.

She stood in the middle of the classroom, holding a shield pad and positioning herself as she waited for Kenny’s strike.

However, he aid his attacks at places she wasn’t covering. Fortunately, she was quick to react and t each of his strikes.

However, her slim build had its limits. Niki had taught her Taekwondo while being reluctant to let her suffer, often holding back during practice. Since Cecilia preferred Emma to learn freely and remain unbothered, there had never been any pressure for her to excel professionally.

Against soone like Kenny, who relied purely on brute force, Emma had a hard ti maintaining just a defensive stance without attacking.

"Hmph, today I’ll make you taste defeat as my opponent! Watch my kick!"

With that, he lifted his leg and used all his strength to kick at her face.

If the kick landed, she would definitely be thrown harshly to the ground.

Watching from the side, John looked thrilled. So what if Emma got kicked? So what if Niki was here? These were industry norms; no one could stop it.

Just as he eagerly anticipated Kenny’s kick to land on Emma’s face, his phone suddenly rang.
