But when she got out of the elevator, she ran into Cecilia.

Cecilia was surprised to see her there, considering she was holding the room key.

Emma was about to say Steven was in another room and an uncle had sent her up, but seeing Cecilia’s solemn expression, she decided to investigate on her own.

"Mommy, you don’t look good. What happened?"

Cecilia hugged Emma to replenish her energy.

She had already hired a few detectives, but she still had no clues.

If even Sophie didn’t know anything about her son, only Frank would know the truth.

However, getting any information from him would be difficult. He had always been evil and conniving.

’What should I do?’

As she thought, Emma reached out, cupped her face, and planted a soft kiss on her cheek.

She said cheerfully, "Mommy, I love you so much!"

Interrupted from her thoughts, Cecilia ruffled her hair and softly asked, "You still haven’t told how you got upstairs."

Emma stared at her fingers, avoiding eye contact as she lied, "It was the waitress who brought up."

Cecilia replied without much thought, "Okay, let’s move our things downstairs now."

After moving downstairs, both of them collapsed on the bed, exhausted.

Seeing Cecilia still down, Emma got up, put on a cap, and struck a handso pose.

"Mommy, if you miss Brother, just look at . Brother and I must be identical since we’re fraternal twins!"

Cecilia chuckled, "Fraternal twins aren’t identical twins. It’s very rare for fraternal twins to look exactly the sa."

Emma dropped her head in disappointnt. "Oh, I see. I thought Brother resembled ."

Cecilia teased, "You silly girl."

Amidst their playful banter, they both fell asleep.

The second day, they slept until afternoon. When Cecilia opened her eyes, she had a text from an unknown number.

"Cecilia, I heard you’ve returned. Do you have ti to see ?"

Although it was an unfamiliar number, Cecilia knew it was from her uncle Rick.

Her mother Lilian had once helped Rick, so he was always kind to her. After thinking a bit, she decided to call the number.

But when she did, all she heard was scolding from Frank instead.

"Cecilia, you little brat! Return your mother’s funds imdiately, or don’t bla for being rude!"

In the distance, it’s Rick faintly coughing.

However, she didn’t notice that. She was only irritated as she coldly replied, "Don’t contact again."

After leaving the Morrisons, she had blocked all of their phone numbers except for her uncle’s. However, she didn’t expect Frank to still find a way.

Frank was furious as he yelled, "You ruined Sophie’s engagent repeatedly, and you even seduced Samuel. You insisted on calling off the marriage, but now you’re causing a ruckus again after we canceled it. You even hit Sophie! Just what’re you up to? I’m warning you, if Sophie can’t marry into the Kingsleys because of you, I’ll never acknowledge you as my daughter ever again!"

Cecilia was amused.

"Didn’t we already cut ties? Also, Samuel’s the one who is pestering . Instead of berating , why don’t you teach your dear daughter to behave and watch over her man!"

Frank had always blad other people whenever sothing went wrong. He was ruthless; only his benefits mattered.

She had seen through him four years ago.

Unable to argue back, Frank resorted to a last-ditch effort.

"Fine! You won’t acknowledge , but what about your uncle? I’ll tell you now, he’s dying!"

Cecilia was shocked, her expression turning serious.

"What’s wrong with Uncle Rick?"

"He had a heart attack and has only a few days left. If you’re still so stubborn, then stay stubborn until the end. Don’t even co to his funeral!"

Cecilia realized now there is a man’s coughs through the call, she finally asked, "Where is Uncle? I’ll go now."

After entrusting Emma to Edwin, she rushed to the hospital.

As she left the elevator, she overheard two nutritionists pushing a cart and chatting.

"We shouldn’t do this to the young master. These were all for him."

"What’s wrong with that? A kid like him can’t eat too much, right? He’s not a picky eater, not able to tell the quality, and these supplents are so expensive. We have to get so benefits here."

"But these substitutes are... too cheap. So of them aren’t even safe. What if sothing happens?"

"What are you so worried about? Kids have a fast tabolism. Don’t you see his appetite when he eats these substitutes? These rich people act all sophisticated, but in the end, they’re just clueless idiots."

"I guess you’re right..."

Before she left the elevator, Cecilia glanced at them and noticed the two pressing the top floor button.

’The top floor?’

’Doesn’t only Steven’s son stay there?’

She didn’t like to be nosy or overly compassionate, but she felt slightly guilty and sour as she recalled the young boy’s small back.

’Oh well, a word or two wouldn’t hurt.’

After asking the front desk, she found out that Steven was in the hotel eting room.

Without hesitation, she opened the eting room door, catching everyone’s attention.

"Mr. Lawrence, I have sothing important to tell you."

Steven had always hated being interrupted. He frowned as he looked at her.

On the other hand, Zane couldn’t stand it anymore.

"Miss Morrison, please stop finding various excuses to approach Mr. Lawrence. This has gone too far. Please leave, or I’ll have to call security."

Rolling her eyes silently, she turned and left without looking back.

She was offering to be kind, but they took her for granted instead!

Arriving at the hospital, Frank had been waiting in her uncle’s ward for so ti.

Seeing her frail uncle on the hospital bed, she felt a bit upset.

Frank was infuriated when he saw her.

"Stop acting like you care. Your uncle can’t be treated anymore since we don’t have enough money, so we can only delay it. Now, return the funds or else you can just wait for his corpse instead!"
