Chapter 749: Chapter 749

“Even if we let them fend for themselves, I have a feeling there’ll be a good show tonight. Let’s just follow along.”

Hearing Zhang Yang say this, Xu Caii and Tang Tiantian could only follow him out of curiosity.

The car sped all the way and soon arrived at a hospital.

Lin Fucheng’s fingers had been cut off, so he undoubtedly needed to co to the hospital for treatnt first.

His mother was incredibly anxious, yelling at the hospital staff the mont she stepped inside, urging the doctors to treat him imdiately.

“If anything happens to my son, you’ll all pay for it!”

The doctors were visibly frustrated by such unreasonable and pushy relatives.

They were used to dealing with people like this; if they couldn’t handle things properly, these kinds of people would indeed resort to endless extortion.

Tang Tiantian saw the scene unfold and couldn’t help saying to Zhang Yang, “Zhang Yang, I really hate him, but in the future, don’t risk getting involved for scum like this. If sothing bad happens, it’s truly not worth it.”

Tang Tiantian had a kind heart. Though she despised Lin Fucheng, she had never wished for his death.

The bloodied scene was truly horrifying to see.

Xu Caii couldn’t help but say to Tang Tiantian, “Bad people are never worth your sympathy, especially those who are rotten to the core.”

“They deserve the punishnt they’ve brought upon themselves. Have you ever thought about what your fate would be if you kept staying with him, enduring his dostic abuse indefinitely?”

“Either you’d be beaten to death, fall into depression and die, or be pushed to the brink, finally fighting back hysterically. At that point, you’d realize that stopping soone as corrupt as him leaves you with no choice but to take his life.”

“That’s how many cris happen. I’m not telling you this to encourage cri or to defend those forced into wrongdoing.”

“I just want you to understand—congratulations, you’re free. But you only gained your freedom because Zhang Yang did what you’d eventually have to do.”

Tang Tiantian listened to Xu Caii’s words and realized how ridiculous her earlier sentints were.

She had actually felt sympathy for soone as rotten to the core as Lin Fucheng. Zhang Yang had borne all the evil in her stead.

Looking at the baby in her arms, a surge of mixed feelings flooded Tang Tiantian’s heart.

“Zhang Yang, I’m sorry about earlier…”

“It’s okay. Weiwei’s overcomplicating it, no need to take it too seriously,” Zhang Yang responded.

Xu Caii pouted and muttered, “So biased!”

But she could see Zhang Yang’s deep care for Mr. Tang, so she didn’t hold it against Tang Tiantian.

“Look, the people from those two cars are coming out—they’re heading into the hospital. Wait, could they really make a move inside the hospital?” Xu Caii exclaid.

In the movies, bad guys always follow soone into the hospital, disguise themselves as doctors, and inject lethal dication.

The victim dies inexplicably in such scenarios, making the case notoriously hard to crack.

Zhang Yang was uncertain. “I don’t think it will go that far.”

“Should we call the police?” Tang Tiantian asked nervously.

Then she quickly clarified, “I’m not acting out of compassion, I just feel like soone dying wouldn’t benefit anyone.”

Xu Caii agreed but still looked at Zhang Yang to ask, “Should we call the police?”

“No need. Those people have already co out—they probably just wanted to confirm if Lin Fucheng would be staying here overnight.”

Both Xu Caii and Tang Tiantian had an epiphany. “Oh, so that’s what’s going on. But why are those people doing this?”

While curiosity gnawed at her, Xu Caii couldn’t help but speculate—could these people really be sent by her uncle? She had never noticed her uncle having such a side before.

Zhang Yang simply thought that Eldest Young Master Xu was not easy to underestimate, feeling certain that he wouldn’t let Lin Fucheng off lightly, which was why he’d decided to follow the trail.

As events unfolded, Eldest Young Master Xu proved to be exactly as Zhang Yang had anticipated—not as simple and honest as he appeared on the surface.

“Now they’re all back in their cars—it looks like Lin Fucheng won’t be staying in the hospital tonight,” Xu Caii analyzed.

As expected of a university student, her observations were top-notch.

After over half an hour, Lin Fucheng and his mother walked out of the hospital together, cursing angrily.

“How co they couldn’t reattach them? The fingers are right here, damn it, these useless idiots!”

Lin Fucheng muttered incessantly as he walked, finally throwing away the four severed fingers in a fit of rage.

Xu Caii asked in confusion, “Why couldn’t they reattach them? Logically, he got here fairly quickly.”

Zhang Yang chuckled but said nothing. When dealing with this gambler, Zhang Yang had made sure not to leave any loose ends.

During his move, Zhang Yang had used Nine Revolutions energy to destroy the tissue structure at the wound. The fingers had already beco necrotic, making reattachnt impossible.

Lin Fucheng and his mother got back into the car but didn’t linger long—they started the engine and left the hospital again.

“Where are they going now? Why does it look like they’re heading sowhere more secluded?” Xu Caii asked in confusion.

At that mont, Tang Tiantian spoke up, “That’s probably Lin Fucheng’s ancestral ho in that direction. Further ahead is an inconspicuous village.”

“Few outsiders visit that village. I went there once after giving birth.”

Zhang Yang said, “It seems Lin Fucheng has at least a shred of intelligence—he knows to hide at a ti like this.”

Xu Caii chuckled, “He is pretty clever. Look, he’s speeding up—seems like he’s noticed the cars trailing behind him.”

“That’s expected. This road rarely sees outside vehicles, so it’s normal for Lin Fucheng to be suspicious,” Zhang Yang replied.

“Aren’t we exposed too?” Xu Caii asked.

“Not yet. As the traffic started thinning out earlier, I turned off our headlamps and kept the distance reasonable. Neither side should have noticed us yet.”

Xu Caii looked at Zhang Yang admiringly and said, “You’re amazing, bro.”

“Nothing special—just basic tracking techniques. Practice well, and you’ll benefit greatly in the future.”

Hearing this, Xu Caii couldn’t help saying, “Actually, I might not take the Maozi path in the future.”

“Why? Isn’t it a good career? Plus, your dad’s already in this field.”

“Because working in this profession takes away all your personal ti. So, it ans less ti to spend with you.”

The sudden confession left Zhang Yang a bit flustered.

Tang Tiantian felt uneasy as well—how could she deserve to stay by Zhang Yang’s side when such an excellent girl had feelings for him?

Zhang Yang tried to advise Xu Caii, “If that’s really how you feel, just don’t regret it if Wang Xinxin and the others outshine you in the future.”
