Capítulo 1282: Chapter 1282: Reunion

“It’s all over now,” Li Lei said with so surprise.

“Uncle Long’s people blew up the huge pit. The citizens affected by the energy are receiving treatnt in the hospital, and most of them have regained their senses. Seven brothers of the Blood-colored Begonia… sacrificed themselves.”

Zhang Yang remained silent.

Zhang Yang knew that Jin Tuantuan must be having a hard ti at this mont. The girl who always had a lollipop in her mouth and seed carefree actually cared more about her subordinates than anyone else.

“Where’s Jin Tuantuan?”

“She’s outside keeping watch, saying that she wants to personally teach you a lesson once you wake up,” Li Lei smiled, her eyes filled with worry.

“She said you were too reckless. If you hadn’t made it back…”

The door suddenly burst open, and Jin Tuantuan stord in.

Jin Tuantuan was wearing a black leather jacket, her hair tied up in a high ponytail, and a lollipop in her mouth. When she saw Zhang Yang awake, her eyes instantly turned red.

“You still know how to wake up, huh?” Jin Tuantuan walked to the bedside and spat the lollipop into the trash can.

She then gritted her teeth and said to Zhang Yang, “Do you know how worried we were? If it wasn’t for Uncle Long stopping , I would have gone down to dig you out myself!”

“I’m sorry.” Zhang Yang looked at her red eyes, feeling a pang of guilt in his heart.

“What’s the use of saying sorry?” Jin Tuantuan’s voice was choked with emotion, but she resisted shedding any tears.

“If sothing really happened to you, how would I explain it to Xiao Man? How would I explain to those…” she suddenly stopped, realizing she had almost let sothing slip.

Zhang Yang knew what she wanted to say. Those won who had sacrificed for him—Li Lei, Wang Xinxin, the Qiao sisters—they were all waiting outside but were afraid to disturb his rest, so they only let Jin Tuantuan co in to see him.

“Are they all here?”

Jin Tuantuan nodded and awkwardly turned her head: “Li Lei said to let you have a good rest and to wait until you’re feeling better…”

“Let them co in,” Zhang Yang interrupted Jin Tuantuan.

He knew he couldn’t avoid it any longer; it was ti to face everything.

Jin Tuantuan paused for a mont, then nodded, turned, and left the room.

Not long after, the door opened again, and Li Lei, Wang Xinxin, Li Lingyu, Qiao Dongna, Georgina, and Xu Caii all walked in one by one.

The room suddenly beca crowded, filled with awkward silence.

Wang Xinxin, holding a thermos, walked to the bedside and spoke softly, “Brother Zhang Yang, I made so chicken soup for you, have so.”

Zhang Yang took the thermos, opened the lid, and a rich aroma wafted out.

Zhang Yang scooped a spoonful and drank it. The warm soup slid down his throat, dispelling the chill from his body.

“Thank you.”

“There’s no need to thank .” Wang Xinxin’s face flushed, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at him.

Li Lingyu stood behind Wang Xinxin, sneaking a glance at Zhang Yang before quickly lowering her head, nervously twisting the corner of her clothes.

The Qiao sisters stood together, their faces filled with concern, not knowing what to say.

Xu Caii leaned against the door fra, her arms crossed, looking at him with a complex gaze and a faint, almost imperceptible smile on her lips.

“I have sothing to say,” Zhang Yang put down the thermos, took a deep breath, and his eyes swept over each woman present.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t been able to give you all an explanation.”

Li Lei ca over and held his hand, “Don’t say that, we all understand.”

“No, you don’t understand,” Zhang Yang shook his head.

“I know it’s unfair to you, and it’s unfair to Xiao Man, but I…” Zhang Yang paused, not knowing how to express his feelings.

Xu Caii suddenly laughed, “Alright, stop being so wishy-washy. It’s not like we’re forcing you to take responsibility. We’re all adults and did it of our own free will.”

“Exactly,” Qiao Dongna chid in.

“We love you for who you are, no matter how many won there are.”

Georgina nodded, not saying a word, but the determination in her eyes said it all.

Looking at them, a wave of warmth surged in Zhang Yang’s heart.

These won—so were his seniors, so were his teachers, so were even the mothers of his classmates—had all given so much for him.

What did he do to deserve their favor?

“I won’t let you down,” Zhang Yang’s voice carried a slight tremble.

“When I get better, I will confess to Xiao Man. If she… if she can’t accept it, I will…”

“You wouldn’t dare!” Li Lei interrupted him, “If you dare to leave us, I’ll…”

“What will you do?” Zhang Yang asked with a smile, seeing Li Lei’s puffed-up face, feeling much less guilty.

“I’ll go tell Xiao Man that you’re bullying us.” Li Lei’s words made everyone laugh, dissolving much of the awkward tension in the room.

At that mont, the door gently opened, and Xiao Man poked her head in, holding a fruit basket, “Zhang Yang, I heard you were awake, so I ca to see you…”

Her voice suddenly stopped as she looked around at everyone in the room, and the smile on her face froze.

The room fell silent, and everyone nervously looked at Xiao Man, unsure of how to explain.

Xiao Man’s gaze scanned each person’s face before finally resting on Zhang Yang, her eyes filled with confusion and hurt. “Why… why is everyone here?”

Zhang Yang’s heart sank. He knew that what was ant to co had finally co.

He took a deep breath and was just about to explain.

Xiao Man suddenly spoke, “Zhang Yang, guess who I saw when I ca today?”

Zhang Yang was stunned, “Who did you see?”

“Was it Aunt Yun or Cousin Sister, or Sister Yue?”

“Or was it the superstar Shen Mange?”

Zhang Yang looked at Xiao Man curiously, but Xiao Man spoke with a puzzled expression, “You might not believe it, but just as I entered the front gate, I thought I saw… saw your grandfather.”

“What?” Zhang Yang shot up from the bed.

“Who did you say you saw?”

The other won also looked at Xiao Man incredulously.

They all knew that Zhang Yang’s grandfather had been dead for over a decade, said to have passed away when Zhang Yang graduated from elentary school.

Of all people present, Tang Tiantian, as Zhang Yang’s high school teacher, would have been the first to know this.

Because back then, Zhang Yang’s parents never attended any parent-teacher etings.

Upon learning the truth, Tang Tiantian felt heartbroken for Zhang Yang for quite a while and eventually began to show concern for him, leaving a lasting impression in Zhang Yang’s heart.

“It must be a mistake, that’s quite spooky,” Li Lei said.

Trying to change the subject, but Xiao Man shook her head, “If it were just , that would be one thing, but both Cousin Sister Xu and Aunt Yun saw it too. You can ask them when they co over.”

Zhang Yang seed to have thought of sothing, and a feeling of unease crept into his heart.

“Quick, go find Cousin Xia Xue and Chen Yun, and bring them here to see .”
