Chapter 968: Listen!!

A petite girl wearing hospital attire stepped out from the dimly lit doorway, appearing in the most sacred location of the Cathedral, the Saintess’s bedroom.

As she appeared, the sunlight streaming through the window dimd, and the intricate carvings on the walls began to twist, transforming into indescribable patterns. The carpet beneath her feet seed to co alive, its fibers writhing as if attempting to devour the living being standing atop it.

Everything inside the room was instantly shrouded in a layer of eerie shadows, with an abyssal aura that could drive ordinary people insane in an instant.

The Offshore Nun’s pupils trembled montarily, but only for an instant; her expression soon cald as she stepped forward, quietly standing between the bed and the gate.

The majority of the remaining Magic Power within her surged as if facing a formidable enemy, ready to explode at any mont.

Yet her solid Legendary Power did not bring her much confidence.

Although the fear within her heart had vanished, it did not an the Offshore Nun forgot the opponent’s strength.

This was the Great Demon, the true Nightmare—in such close proximity to face such an entity, even the Palace must be prepared for a fall, let alone the Legendary.

Lady Saintess, naturally, is an exception.

However, despite once witnessing firsthand the ultimate slash’s brilliance from the Hero, Lady Saintess is now depleted of Magic Power, having only absorbed a portion of her Magic Power, barely managing to recover her actions, hardly reassuring.

Last ti, flying off silently to fight the Great Demon was one thing; this ti, she even summoned the Great Demon to the room…

Yet the Nun did not bla her rashness, nor did she act rashly, but simply stared tightly at the uninvited guest who had been invited.

And the Dreaming Girl summoned in response did not strike imdiately.

Her pure black eyes lingered on the Nun for less than a second, then quickly glanced away, her gaze falling upon the small Fairy atop the Hero’s head.

The Dusk Fairy paused from tugging the Hero’s hair, squinting her eyes, gazing placidly into hers for a mont.

The pair of black eyes continued to slowly drop, eventually reflecting the Hero’s face.

“Nice to et you, or should I say, long ti no see, Nether Sea Dream.”

The Hero smiled lightly at her.

Upon hearing her voice, finally recognizing her true identity from the obscure and faint Magic Power fluctuations, the Dreaming Girl’s eyelashes trembled.

It was the starlight blooming in the Deep Sea, the scorching sun evaporating the ocean, and the irreversible light slicing through the night.

At so unknown point, the Black Phoenix’s totem also erged from the Hero’s shoulder, the narrow Phoenix Eyes gazing at her with ill intent.

The Dreaming Girl retreated half a step.

“No need to be so tense, I won’t eat you.”

The Hero shook his head with a wry smile and pressed back the other version of himself with a gaping maw at his collarbone.

“Actually, I had intended to converse with you in a different, more fitting form… but that way, I couldn’t have summoned you over here.”

She tilted her head slightly, smiling gently, “Won’t you sit down first?”

Upon hearing this, the Offshore Nun hesitated for a mont, then raised her hand; Magic Power ford a phantom arm, fetching a chair nearby and placing it behind the Dreaming Girl.

The girl in hospital attire remained silent for a few seconds, without movent, speaking in a sowhat slow voice:

“…what is it you summoned for?”

♛: Third Seat

“Third Seat?”

Upon hearing this title, the Hero nodded lightly, then shook his head.

“It seems that after obtaining this role, you’ve regained so of the theater master’s privileges.

“However, I am not the Third Seat. To be precise—I have just destroyed the Third Act.”

“Destroyed…” The Dreaming Girl contemplated for a few seconds, a ripple stirring in her dark, deep eyes.

“Then you are… Catastrophe? Summoning here to devour ?”

“Though I’m not yet clear what exactly you all an by ‘Catastrophe,'” the Hero shook his head with a smile, his golden hair lifting slightly, “based on the outco of this conversation, I wouldn’t deny having the intention of ‘eating you.’

Instantly, a terrifying surge of Magic Power erupted from Nether Sea Dream, transforming the entire room almost into an Otherworld.

The Offshore Nun held her breath, her heartbeat accelerating uncontrollably, cold sweat pouring.

Yet the Hero’s smile remained unchanged, quietly observing the opponent.

After a long while, the Dreaming Girl finally blinked, the overwhelming Magic Power slowly receding, lifting the oppressively heavy atmosphere, allowing sunlight to once again spill into the room, brightening it.

“What do you want to discuss?”

She spoke softly while drawing her knees together, sitting down.

Seeing Nether Sea Dream accept the talk, not only did the Offshore Nun but even the Hero himself secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Though she was confident in her assumptions, having not yet been confird, she couldn’t ignore the possibility that Nether Sea Dream might suddenly attack.

That’s why she first summoned the Dusk Fairy to serve as a Guard.

After returning from the Wandering Country, though she had absorbed the Strength from the destruction of the third act, she remained in a severely weakened status, yet not to the extent of being completely unable to move.

The first thing she did was not to press the summoning bell nor head to the kitchen, but imdiately to confirm whether the Golden House she left in Alien Machinery City was intact.

The result surprised her a little: the Golden House was not only unhard but even showed signs of being further reinforced.

With a bit of thought, she understood that it was her brother’s handiwork.

Her brother had set out for the Alien Machinery City many days ago, and although the journey was long, by her calculations he should have arrived by now.

When she constructed the Golden House, the stacking of magic rituals was a replication of her brother’s Thousand Forms Array.

While breaking it might be a bit of work for her brother, reinforcing and strengthening it was no problem at all.

On the other hand, neither the Fourteenth Princess nor her brother had used Summoning Magic to call her.

This ans, after summoning the existence of “Nether Sea Dream,” which threatened Alien Machinery City with an Arcane Surge, nothing had yet happened in act four, which was caught in a type of stasis.

Previously, the Hero might have thought it was “just in ti” that she returned before the Nightmare attack.

But upon learning of the Foolish King’s intelligence, she suddenly thought of another bold possibility, which is why, after eting the Offshore Nun, she couldn’t wait to summon the Nether Sea Dream to test her conjecture.

Looking at the Dreaming Girl, the Hero spoke softly, her tone lacking hostility but also not particularly kind:

“Though I don’t agree with your thods and don’t intend to see you as a companion… in fact, you oppose the Wandering Country.”

According to the Foolish King’s intelligence, in the Wandering Country’s setup, the theater owner of the second act was supposed to be an existence that “grinds away the will of the soul.”

To make one fear both death and rebirth, thus choosing to sink and stagnate amid contradictions—wandering in a state neither alive nor dead.

But the Nether Sea Dream, which broke free after its rampage, did quite the opposite.

It made the dead yearn for rebirth, the living crave death, eroding the dreams of all living things in the world.

Its actions are contrary to the concept of wandering; it can be said that they are the stark opposition to the Wandering Country.

To rein in such a Great Demon so diatrically opposed to oneself is no easy feat for the Wandering Country, where most theater owners are absent.

Thus, to avoid direct conflict, the theater can only continue to allow the existence of the Nether Sea Dream.

And the Nether Sea Dream has, from ancient tis, entrenched itself in the Deep Sea, but unlike the Corrupted Phoenix, who actively challenges the world, its actions seem rather passive.

It doesn’t proactively expand its domain, only eroding when souls co into contact with it.

The Siren, living in the ocean, inevitably encounter the Nether Sea Dream during their territorial exploration, leading to collapse.

The Kingdom faced its threat only because the collapsing Siren fled to land, causing those in power like the King and the Pope to co into contact with the Nightmare.

In other words, if the Siren had completely severed ties with humankind and never landed, or if the Kingdom had not been in such a coastal area, likely even now, the Nether Sea Dream would have lived in peace with humanity, and they wouldn’t even know of this horrifying threat in the far sea.

This state, rather than being described as hibernation, is more a lack of interest in humankind, making it stand out awkwardly among many Great Demons.

The Moon City being a city itself is one thing, but even the Four-winged King, who dwells behind the gate, actively seeks to ddle in human affairs in many ways.

Although not an expert on Great Demons, the Hero has so doubts about this nature, though she has always lacked clear intelligence and opportunities to verify, unable to reach a definitive conclusion.

Until visiting the Wandering Country, a hypothesis finally ford in her heart.

The Nether Sea Dream appears so calm in reality, not directly launching large-scale erosions, not out of rcy nor lack of Strength—rather, because to it, the “world” worthy of ravaging is not this material reality but the illusive Wandering Country.

“Your primary target is not the living humans but the souls that wander. However, because the Wandering Country actively isolated your existence, you turned to prey on us instead.”

The Hero continued to speak.

“But now, the Wandering Country, wishing to continue the theatrical performance, has no choice but to reuse you. Yet, due to my disruption, it cannot attend to your manipulation, resulting in, though you unified many nightmares, you’ve yet to move against the Alien Machinery City…”

Rather than devour the human city that is inches away but difficult to assess for risk, it prefers to conserve its forces for an assault on the Wandering Country.

The Hero finished sharing her conjecture, then cast an inquiring glance at the sick-garbed girl before her.

“Is that so?”

“From a human perspective, that cannot be said to be incorrect.”

Though initially cautious, after sitting down, the Dreaming Girl’s expression also returned to calm, her tone as steady as water, replying to the Hero without a hint of fluctuation:

“But it’s unrelated to support or opposition; it’s my inherent nature, just like different creatures being herbivorous, carnivorous, or dream-consuming… right or wrong and stance are rely definitions you humans impose.”

If it succeeds in devouring the Wandering Country, its next target would likewise shift to the Material Realm.

Understanding this, the Hero was not disappointed, only nodding gently.

“Inherent nature… even still, there is a source to every inherent nature.” Erald pupils t pure black eyes, and the Hero spoke softly.

(Moon Language) “——Then, do you know, as the theater owner of the second act, why you were molded into this form?”
