Chapter 959: Interlude D357

The prival city turned into a blazing torch, releasing endless light and heat, filling the entire world.

The Dancer tossed the Chopping Axe high into the air, the axe blade spinning midair, tracing out a brilliant firework, and then fell back into her white palm, caught stably by her, tracing a magnificent trajectory.

Then, that slender arm made a powerfully forceful motion backwards, the axe blade cutting a ferocious trajectory, then freezing still.

The young girl held the axe in her right hand, while her left hand rested on her chest, and then she bent slightly, offering thanks to the empty audience.

The dance ended.

The stage was still shrouded in fierce flas, but whether they were Dragonkind, the Evil Emperor, or the Imperial soldiers, all had vanished without a trace, leaving only the figure of the girl on stage.

Though there wasn’t a bead of sweat appearing on her forehead, the girl’s chest still heaved slightly, revealing the afterglow of her joyful dance just now.

After a long ti, she straightened up again, raising her head to look at the sky that had been completely swallowed by flas.

At this mont, although the theater was empty except for her, the Hero inexplicably perceived other presences.

Even as the Praying Light Dancer, she could not set the entire world itself ablaze, but the light and heat that should have spread wantonly with the burning of the Imperial City seed to have touched so invisible boundary, getting cut off before waning.

That was the edge of this world.

At this mont, the entire third act of the theater had been filled with her flas and radiance, and through the sensing of this fire and light, the Hero touched the edge of this stage— and the exit leading to the unknown.

Perceiving this, she closed her eyes thoughtfully.

The next mont, applause ca from across.

“Welco to the ‘backstage,’ friend.”

The voice, peaceful yet slightly hoarse, made the Hero open her eyes in slight surprise.

Unknowingly, her surroundings had drastically changed, from the fiery swaying stage to an “indoor” setting.

Before her was a table, and around the table, ten chairs were neatly arranged.

But this was not a room with a physical form, rather a conceptual space detached from material.

Although she could intuitively understand that there was a table before her, she couldn’t define its material or shape. It seed like wood, also like stone, also like tal; it seed like a circle, also like a rectangle, also like an ellipse.

And those ten chairs were the sa, just possessing the concept of “chair,” everything else indistinguishable, the only thing understandable was the order of their arrangent.

Next to the Hero was the third seat, while across from her was the fifth seat.

Seated there was a man with a proud stature, slightly hunched due to his sitting posture.

The Hero stared at him, the axe in her hand trembling slightly, seemingly eager to move.

And after the man spoke his first sentence, he remained silent, his face hidden in shadows, rely holding a calm and unruffled gaze, quietly eting her eyes.

As the silent standoff persisted, a wise glint gradually erged in the Hero’s red-gold eyes.

“The ‘backstage’ you ntioned is here, right? Then, is this the Wandering Country’s…?”

Inserting the Chopping Axe into her waist, she slowly exhaled, asking calmly.

Although the ancient state had been removed, the strength of the Carnival Horn hadn’t faded, keeping the Hero sharp-minded, she quickly grasped the situation.

As long as there wasn’t an outbreak of battle, there was no need to worry about entering an exhausted state for a short period.

The man across gently nodded, raising his hand in a gesture of invitation.

“Sit down, after all, the third seat has already been seized by you… or rather, been burned by you. You needn’t worry about any issues.”

He thought for a mont and added: “Of course, you can also choose a familiar environnt for yourself, after all, you are the guest.”

1.5. Grandpa’s House

2.6. Viscount’s House

3.7. Cathedral

4.8. Canteen!

♛: Grandfather’s house

The Hero imdiately understood the aning behind the man’s words. As thoughts raced through her mind, the ambiguous concepts around her swiftly beca clear, transforming into a scene she recognized—her grandfather’s dining room.

The table before her beca the sturdy wooden round table from her grandfather’s house, and the ten chairs surrounding it turned into wooden, high-backed carved chairs.

Although not entirely identical in detail, it was close enough to make her feel comfortable and familiar.

“What a nice place. Is this the environnt where humankind now resides?”

The man was not surprised by the change, observing the drastically altered surroundings with a nod of appreciation.

“Hmm, I like it here.”

Feeling as though she had returned ho, the Hero relaxed and sat down casually, her gaze falling on the round table before her.

Instead of utensils and a feast, the table held a massive disc, taking up most of the tabletop.

The sector facing her seat, position number three, was ablaze, burning like a bonfire, radiating warm and bright light.

Seeing the light, the Hero nodded thoughtfully, understanding the nature of the place she was in.

Using the light, she also clearly saw the man’s face across from her, her mouth dropping open in surprise.

“… Is it you?”

Seemingly not expecting such a reaction, the man was slightly taken aback but then nodded knowingly.

“I see, it seems you have also had an encounter with the Angel King. It appears you may have seen my image in so historical record.”

The man shook his head with a touch of emotion, then stood and bowed to the Hero.

“Although strictly speaking, what resides here is rely ‘residue’ and ‘mixture,’ it doesn’t hinder our communication.

“Pleased to et you, Hero. I am the Theater Master of the Fifth Act, the ‘Foolish King’—the Fool who ended civilization.”

The sharp, chiseled and handso face was exactly the human leader who, in the Ancient Royal City murals of the Angel Country, ended the entire Angel Civilization the Hero had once seen.

“You just said this is the ‘backstage,’ so this is the Wandering Country’s…”

Recovering from her brief shock, the Hero glanced around.

Though it looked like her grandfather’s ho, neither the books on the shelves nor the various small decorations matched, and they held profound mysteries she couldn’t yet fully decipher.

“Yes, central, topmost level, control room… You can understand it in whatever way you prefer.” the man nodded simply.

“Only nine carefully selected Theater Masters hold the right to enter this place and gain partial control over the theater, that is, the power of the Divine Domain governing the world.”

Upon hearing this, the Hero turned her head towards the chief’s seat, which was empty.

“The chief’s seat is not the first seat but the tenth. It can also be called the zeroth seat. It only cos into existence when all nine Theater Masters return to their posts, and the theater fully covers the entire world.”

The man provided an explanation at the right mont.

The Hero nodded in understanding, then with so doubt, tilted her head and asked:

“Why are you telling all this?”

“Even if I didn’t tell you, with your intelligence, you would eventually figure it out,” the man said, slightly helpless, shaking his head, “Moreover, you not only defeated the third seat but also forced your way in here by totally destroying the Third Act and seem quite at ease.”

Upon saying this, he smiled aningfully:

“Rather than having you cause destruction here, it’s better for to co and talk to you and delay ti a bit.”

‘He’s tricking you, quickly chop him with your axe.’

Encouraged by another self, the Hero subconsciously reached for the Chopping Axe at her waist, but her fingers cald down the mont they touched the cold axe handle.

Seeing her obvious move, the man remained unfazed, simply eting her gaze calmly.

If every individual entering this place is like the Evil Dragon Ancient Emperor, with a status that surpasses the Great Demon, then with her limited remaining burst ti, an impetuous conflict with them is obviously not a wise choice.

Thinking this through, the Hero obediently put her hand back on the table and spoke seriously:

“In that case, since ti is limited, you should say more. Otherwise, I’ll start smashing things.”

Her serious deanor made the man chuckle lightly.

“Of course, I am quite happy to assist such an outstanding child of humankind like you. If there’s anything you wish to know, feel free to ask.”
