"...Today should be the Hero's birthday."
In a quiet mansion within the Alien Machinery City, the Fourteenth Princess, clad in a soft nightgown, lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling with a gentle sigh.
At nineteen, she was in the pri of her life; her limbs, stretched out from the gown, were slender and long, and her reclining body showcased graceful curves, her complexion glowing with healthy rosiness.
Her neatly trimd nails were painted with a crystalline, elegant pale pink polish, while her wrists and ankles were adorned with luxurious and intricate rings, engraved with delicate patterns and inlaid with lustrous gemstones.
Since the disaster of displacent struck the Capital two years ago, this young Princess had been tirelessly shuttling across the Kingdom. As a representative of the Royal Family, she consolidated various forces to stabilize the national situation, preventing so local powers from seizing the opportunity to rise, striving tirelessly for the Kingdom's revival and prosperity.
It was due to her and many others' relentless efforts that the disaster of displacent did not lead the Kingdom into decline, but instead, made it stronger over the two years that followed.
Yet, the two years of struggle did not leave marks of hardship on the Princess, but rather made her appear even more noble and enchanting, her brows exuding the calm dignity of a High-Ranking Individual.
But now, her expression could barely conceal a sense of helplessness.
"Originally, I thought I could complete my mission within a month and then rush back to attend the Hero's birthday..."
During the Hero's dormant Awakening, the Fourteenth Princess had visited the Holy City several tis, and was among the first to hear the news of the Saintess Awakening.
Although she was abroad at the ti, she imdiately planned the date to return ho, eagerly looking forward to reuniting with her friend with the black hair and Erald Eye.
"But now, it seems like I won't be able to leave Alien Machinery City for the next few days." The Fourteenth Princess sighed softly again.
Although the night outside was deep, it was far from being her usual bedti.
The neon lights, powered by Magic Power, made this city of Arcane Engineering resemble a city that never sleeps. Even with the lights off, just opening the curtains would allow the outdoor lights to clearly illuminate the room.
But the reason she changed into a nightgown early was quite simple: she hadn't left this mansion for several days.
This mission to Alien Machinery City originally had another designated envoy by the old King, since she, still wearing the Demon-locking Ring, was too worriso for an overseas trip.
However, as a special envoy sent to Alien Machinery City, the Fourteenth Princess's status and capability were indeed perfect, coupled with her determined request, the old King could only agree reluctantly.
Considering the long journey, her Guard delegation was impeccable. Besides the ever-present Demon Hunter by her side, the King also specially dispatched three Legendary Professionals to accompany her, naly a Mage, a Warrior, and a Priest.
This configuration could be deed luxurious within the Kingdom, with a team of four Legendary Professionals capable of challenging a Demon King during a large Arcane Surge, they were more than sufficient as her guard.
Yet, despite such a powerful envoy team, they have been trapped in Alien Machinery City for nearly ten days.
And although the Fourteenth Princess was not in any life-threatening danger, she also found herself in this awkward state of semi-house arrest.
Despite having understood at the beginning of her mission that there had been changes in Alien Machinery City, she had never imagined the situation would escalate to this extent.
"I even bought a special gift for the Hero, but now it seems it'll just have to be a belated birthday present." Recalling her long-unseen friend, the Fourteenth Princess showed a soft smile, and the worry between her brows eased significantly.
Yet, as she recalled the various experiences she had gone through, her expression inevitably turned sowhat peculiar.
Encountering a Magic Cloud storm on the road, hitting the displacent disaster upon returning to the Capital, and now, the mission to Alien Machinery City turned into this...
Could it be that the one with the problem has been all along?
For a mont, the Fourteenth Princess fell into self-doubt.

The Kingdom's Western Realm borders the region where Alien Machinery City is located, but the boundary between the two has always been unclear.
In the past, the Western Realm was long shrouded in the Magic Cloud Undercurrent, a residual wave from the ancient self-destruct of Angel City, lingering from ancient tis to the present.
Despite the vastness of the Western Realm, the Magic Cloud Undercurrent has made the Magic Elent environnt extrely harsh, rendering the land barren, unfit for cultivating crops, nor suitable for resource extraction. Only the depraved Winged People who had fallen to a life of banditry, along with a few Magic Creatures adapted to the harsh environnt, inhabit this land.
anwhile, Alien Machinery City, despite being acknowledged by other states as an independent city-state, has never clearly defined its sphere of influence.
Therefore, the vast lands of the Western Realm—up to where it belongs to the Kingdom, and where it begins as Alien Machinery City—has always remained ambiguous.
Because of the harsh environnt of the Western Realm, this vague boundary did not cause any practical issues in the past.
Only a few students pursuing Professional advancent would dare to cross this desolate no-man's land, braving the dangers.
