But for the Cruising bishop, this strike seed to pierce directly through his vulnerability; in severe pain, his vision was montarily engulfed in crimson red.

He staggered and fell to the ground under the surprised gaze of the soldiers, then, amidst despair and helplessness, he ’had no choice’ but to activate the bishop-exclusive Divine Mark of help.

However, the signal for help was controlled by the Nightmare who had been prepared, not spreading out but instead purposefully transmitted to its own prey.

Then, the Black Gate’s believers erged from the shadows again, entering combat with the prison guards.

Everything was within the plan.

The Nightmare Sage quietly floated in the dimness, with anticipation and a smile, watching a trail of fire gradually appear on the horizon.

The chaos had continued for so long, presumably the city was now concentrating more forces here, but before their arrival, his goal would be achieved.

Although ti was pressing, he had calculated the straight-line distance from the venue here, having hypnotized many residents along the way. In this place lacking entertainnt, going to sleep at this ti was quite normal, and nobody would notice anything unusual about these people.

Those plunged into dreams would beco the stepping stones for his spellcasting; while killing the Hero might still be unlikely, that was not his goal.

The Hero’s speed was sowhat unexpected, but her trajectory didn’t deviate, his Magic Power imprint gradually being branded on her, and likewise, that foolish Hero had no Perception.

Soon, after completing the spellcasting, the Hero will be dragged into the realm of dreams, although defeating her might still require so effort, the outco was already decided.

And when the city’s soldiers arrived at the source of the chaos, they would find that the Hero who should have already been here had disappeared on the road—

The next mont, behind that trail of fire, explosions and intense light burst forth, as though multiple bolts of thunder were simultaneously crossing the sky.

Suddenly, the whole district was enveloped by thunderous sound, half of the sky as bright as day.

Nurous residents who had deeply fallen asleep were directly awakened by the blasts, practically jumping out of their beds.

The Nightmare Sage’s spellcasting was instantly Interrupted, and chaotic Magic Power backlash surged forth.

In agony, a surge of intense panic swept through its Spirit—He had been seen through! How could that be!

Its formless body, wavering like floating ashes, began to shake, trying to dive into the shadows.

But after the bright light and loud noises, darkness did not return to the city; the street lamps’ Magic Stones, as if overloaded, shone resplendently, bathing the entire district in light.

Then, a persistent drizzle accompanied by the wind ca, carrying the refreshing essence of Magic Power, curling the Nightmare Sage up in utter disbelief.

The city previously engulfed in night and slumber that beca its playground transford abruptly into layered cages, trapping it in place.

A dazzling path traced by intense light streaked across the sky, the Hero’s Flying trajectory completely obscured beneath, the diffused light painting the night sky as if it were day.

Shocking reverberations thundered endlessly, awakening half the city’s residents with the clamor, prompting them to open their windows.

"So fast to take counterasures... interesting."

But clearly, re brilliant light cannot dispel all darkness; beneath the shadows, the invisible ash like lifted dust gracefully snuck into nooks and crannies without emitting a hint of magical fluctuation.

After the initial surprise, the Nightmare Sage quickly cald down.

It interrupted its spellcasting, no longer attempting any movent, silently watching the passing cot in the sky representing the Hero, representing a long-cherished wish.

It was a race of speed, and it didn’t have much ti to prepare. Infiltrating the Church wasn’t easy, nor sustainable for long, and the army’s searches for the Black Gate didn’t allow for further delay.

But the ti left for humankind to react was even shorter; as long as the Hero could be successfully transferred during this brief period, it would be its victory.

But clearly, it was the one who lost this ti.

"...There will be another chance, even if I can’t leave this city for now, the initiative is still in my hands.

"Next ti we et, I won’t keep you waiting—Hero."

Amidst severe pain, the Cruising bishop stumbled and knelt on the ground.

Blinding dizziness and confusion battered his mind, the world spinning wildly, his consciousness teetered, barely aware of where he was or what he was doing.

Suddenly, a clear and mournful phoenix cry pierced his heart, snapping him back to reality.

Holy Light burst forth from the Cruising Bishop’s body, expelling and Purifying the Nightmare Magic Power within, and instantly straightened his wavering stance.

"Damn it, what have I done!"

The originally ungravely injured Cruising bishop woke up from the Nightmare, hastily opened his eyes, and looked at the tragedy before him with a troubled expression.

Despite being engulfed by the Nightmare and unable to control himself, he still maintained his basic moral line, refraining from being brutal in the fight with the prison guards.
