Chapter 328: D118.Your Na_2

Behind him, not far off the road, a luxurious chocobo carriage sped by, its body adorned with the crest of the count’s family, shining with a brilliance under the starlight that elicited cheers from the pedestrians who noticed the carriage.

Yet, the cruising bishop remained oblivious, his eyes hollow as he stared ahead at the road, his heart unable to accommodate anything else.

“What a clumsy infiltration.”

Chuckles rose from followers lurking in the dark as they watched the scene unfold.

Alarms blared within the Extraordinary Prison, lights charged with manifest magic splayed wildly, illuminating the entire darkness.

Despite the military banquet celebrating victories, not a single important facility’s defenses were relaxed, especially not the Extraordinary Prison with its intense guard.

The prison guards here were all well-trained elites. After all, those imprisoned weren’t ordinary criminals who could just be thrown into iron cells, but professionals with magic power and combat skills. Even if their magic was suppressed, they still held the potential to resist and escape.

Thus, barely as the cruising bishop’s infiltration had begun, it was imdiately perceived by the patrolling prison guards. Clearly, stealth was not his forte.

“As expected, though powerful, he is a bishop after all, not a stalker, and right now, his mind isn’t very clear.”

The leader gave an objective assessnt, settling the waves of mockery.

“However, his mission is already complete. With his strength, although it’s impossible to breach the prison frontally, delaying the prison guards is well within his capabilities.”

Watching the distinct streaks of holy light across the night sky, the leader exhaled.

The holy light, repelled by magic shields, flashed above, also casting light on these figures.

If any other Church mbers or those who had seen the Adventurer Guild’s wanted posters were present, they would be astonished—these were remnants of the nearly annihilated Black Gate, the cultists who proclaid themselves as “True Saint Disciples.”

There was a ti when the power of the Black Gate in the border vastly exceeded expectations.

However, since their operation in the highland failed, the bomber’s plan was thwarted, and most believers were either executed or caught, the Black Gate’s influence in the border was nearly wiped clean.

These remnants left behind in Border City also suffered rciless thunderous strikes from the count, barely surviving to this day with their years of stealth experience, but now teetering on the brink of complete eradication.

And in this mont of despair, a “Sage” who called himself a Nightmare appeared before them, bringing the last glimr of hope—or perhaps their ultimate dead end.

“This ans we can proceed to the next step!” the leader whispered, his expression twisted slightly.

Several believers have already sunk into an eternal slumber to boost the power of this Nightmare beyond the city’s barrier.

But even knowing it was like drinking poison to quench thirst, they couldn’t let go of this last straw.

[Nightmare Sage’s plan—]

Suburban Military District, banquet hall.

The air brimd with the aroma of delicious food; gone were the intricate formalities and artificial adornnts of noble banquets, replaced by a casual and relaxed atmosphere.

Soldiers, seated in groups, chatted leisurely, the strict military ranks during training and marching now indistinct.

In addition to sergeants, adventurers involved in the recent operation were present. Boisterous laughter broke out from ti to ti, and no one reprimanded breaches of decorum.

In front of the dining tables, several soldiers had already started feasting heartily, clearly very pleased with the banquet food, sparing no reservations.

However, as the count took the stage, all commotion instantly quieted down, and the soldiers quickly straightened up, their gaze uniformly focused on the stage, listening to the count’s speech.

Standing backstage, the hero heard the count’s deep and powerful voice, yet her mind was blank.

Although words like ‘thanks’ and ‘struggle’ occasionally floated to her ears, they glided by like water droplets, failing to form coherent sentences—after all, it was only monts before it was her turn to take the stage.

Even though she had morized the script thoroughly… reciting in front of so many was entirely different.

But she was not afforded much ti to ponder, as the next second, thunderous applause rolled in like a tide, jolting the hero out of her daze.

The count approached her backstage, his eyes encouraging, signaling her to go on stage.

The hero walked onto the stage as if in a trance, standing at the central podium, gaze vacantly sweeping over the audience below.

Her erald eyes blinked lightly, glancing over faces both familiar and foreign.

She saw the sergeant sitting in the front row, the green-faced recruits in the back, the three female adventurers from the ancient village, and the military mage who had devotedly treated her curse…
