Never Forgotten_2 She begged the heavens for pity.
Her visit to the border was originally just to see a friend and check if they were ho, intending to borrow so blood to cure the curse…
Although it sounded a bit frivolous, that was truly all there was to it.
But look at what she encountered in just a few days at the border.
The Demon Monster King’s plea for help, the anomaly of the highland volcano, the prophecy of the Nightmare, the warning from the Snow Woman, and now even traces of an injured Fantasy-Level White Snake—
Along with the exiled Water Mirror Crane, the poison fog-covered volcano, the White Snake’s trail, and the Snake Scale injured by fire and dark elents, which bore chain marks.
The chaotic information swirled like a vortex in her mind, nearly causing her to lose her sense of direction.
“Granddaughter, this book is for you.”
Suddenly, amidst the many flashing mories, her grandfather’s indifferent face and slight gentle, aged voice appeared without any connection.
“Folklore is both history and not history, because various legends and customs that ford and have been passed down might originate from a lost past, or they might just be pure fantasy…
“It records not only truths but also unverifiable rumors, even completely fabricated legends.
While history studies objective facts, folklore reflects the changes in people’s hearts.
“No matter whether those customs work or are authentic, since they’ve been passed down to today, there must be so significance to them.
“Although this book might not necessarily be of use, reading it doesn’t hurt.
“You can use it to pass the ti during idle monts on the road.”
Inside the thick notebook were records of her grandfather’s lifeti of research and the nurous border folklore legends.
Then, she opened the book—

In the hero’s mind, inspiration struck like lightning,
She sat cross-legged on the ground, swiftly taking out paper and pen, organizing the current information while digging through past mories from her mind—
Neat handwriting flowed continuously without ssiness, quickly marking beautiful traces in her notebook.
Looking at the words she had written, the hero’s small face was full of seriousness.
She rembered so clearly not only because her mory had recently improved but because this legend was directly related to her!

This was the distant past, an ancient era when humankind had not yet established civilization, and the Great Demon road the earth.
This was lost history, beyond the ability of written records, conveyed only through spoken heroic tales.
This was a naless legend, a simple story of one human raising a longsword to face the Great Demon alone.
“There was a hero who, at the cost of life, sealed the Great Demon under the volcano.”
A single sentence, lacking ups and downs or waves, could summarize it.
The hero did not achieve victory, nor did they return triumphantly.
No one knew the hero’s na.
No one witnessed the hero’s end.
But the lives saved rembered, always rembered.
Whether human or magic creatures, they passed this story down through generations.
A hero sacrificed themselves.
A hero protected us.
Ti passed, a thousand years in the blink of an eye.
—”Hero, we have never forgotten.”

[Grandfather’s Research Notes]
Although there are no definitive historical records, it might be the earliest record and the first hero in human history.
In so ancient villages, the tradition of sacrificing to this hero is reportedly maintained.
The volcano in this folklore doesn’t exist at the border, or more precisely, it’s beyond the plains’ investigational reach.
Though not limited to the border, fragnts of this legend can be gathered across the Kingdom, but without a doubt, the legend initially spread from the border.
So, ruling out all other possibilities, this volcano is most likely referring to the Central Volcano of the Western Plateau.
Virtually no one has set foot there, and the existence of this volcano has even been questioned.
After all, the environnt of the Western Plateau isn’t suitable for human survival, making it hard to imagine an ancient settlent forming enough folklore and witnessing the clash between the hero and the Great Demon near the volcano.
Hence, I have a bold hypothesis—perhaps, back then, the volcano was still situated on the plains.
But as ti went on, the earth’s crust near the volcano gradually rose, forming the highland, and nearby humans were forced to leave their hos,
Thus, with the flow and dispersion of these people, the legend gradually simplified and, after spreading throughout the Kingdom, distilled down to that single sentence…
The hero who holds the demon at bay with their body, what an awe-inspiring epic.
If she could know, perhaps she could investigate the detailed truth.
Sadly, I have no way to personally visit the highland to see that volcano,
And surely, if I were to speak of such absurd speculation, no one would believe it.
But if under that volcano truly lay an ancient evil suppressed, then…(roughly scratched out).
