Seeing her attack rendered ineffective and the enemy’s chanting unceasing, the Hero let out a breath, a shiver of trepidation rising in her heart.

The opponents she had faced in the past were either weak Goblins she could vanquish in one hit, or close-combat types where the fight was a race to see who could strike faster and harder.

She had never before experienced this feeling of being helplessly suppressed from a distance, forced to remain immobile.

Is this the power of a Mage——

The Witch’s chanting continued, becoming more piercing by the mont.

The Gleaming Scale Serpent at her feet had barely broken free from the disruptive magic noise, but the screeching soon carried over again, causing it to emit a pained hiss.

The Hero could only erect a thick Water Wall again, temporarily shielding both herself and the serpent from the piercing magic sound.

But this was not a sustainable solution.

Though her Magic Power was still ample and she hadn’t sustained any injuries, she knew that nothing good would co of it should the creature complete its chanting.

‘What should I do?’

Just one round into the fight, the Hero realized she might not be able to get away unscathed.

This unprecedented formidable opponent forced her to wrack her brains.

She had to make a decision within this extrely brief window of ti——

Should she take a gamble and charge at her opponent over the water using magic?

Should she continue to disrupt her, attempting to find a chance to escape through a gap?

[The Hero’s next action——]

1-6 ‘I must get close to her!’

7-8 ‘I must disrupt her!’

Suddenly, a spark of inspiration struck the Hero’s mind.

She perceived the covetous gaze.

Even during the chanting, the Undead’s eye sockets held a glow that never wavered from the Hero.

It was a look full of longing, craving, anticipation, and greed, one that not even the thick Water Wall could block.

Abruptly, the Hero dissipated the Water Wall, standing up, a move that even the tornted Gleaming Scale Serpent found surprising as it widened its eyes.

Enduring the pain in her mind, she extended her hand forward, her slender index finger pointing towards the Siren Shark still engrossed in chanting.

“Don’t you want my flesh, my soul?”

A drop of blood, shimring like a gemstone, wobbled slightly on her finger, which was cut at an unknown ti by a water blade, amid the sharp sonic waves.

The chanting of the Rotten Undead suddenly slowed down, as if afraid that its shrill voice would shatter that gem-like drop.

“Why, then, are you staying so far away?”

The Hero whispered softly, turning her wrist so that the tips of her fingers were pointing downward.

‘Drip-drop—’

The blood drop fell into the Black Lake, releasing an enticing fragrance.

“—Why not co over here?”

The maiden offered a Radiant Smile.

[Based on the temporary skill: Daughter of the Sea, the Hero successfully activated the skill: Calamity (Charm 90D2, Siren Blood 30)]

The Black Lake underground once again falls quiet.

“Yes, co closer, even closer…”

Just monts ago, the roar of battle filled this place, but now, only the Hero’s voice, sweet as alluring honey, was gently perating the Black Lake, filling the entire dark underground.

“Good child, co to …”

Despite never having learned such a tone, she instinctively exhaled a gentle pant.

The Witch’s Ghost, which had just been screaming terribly and exerting extraordinary oppressive power, was now following the Hero’s guidance like a naive child, sliding off its throne and gradually approaching her from above the lake.

Its chanting had long ceased, and the Magic Spear it had been holding aloft had dropped, creating ripples on the surface of the lake.

Only the gaze fixed on the Hero remained fervent.

“Bow your head, won’t you?”

The Hero sighed gently, watching the Undead co up to her.

The Rotten rmaid Shark obediently lowered its head, and the Hero reached out, undeterred, to lift its greasy, seaweed-like matted hair.

The half of the Witch’s face that wasn’t decayed was revealed, reflected in the Hero’s azure pupils.

Although the eye sockets were hollow and the face withered, one could still glimpse the vestiges of her forr beauty.

Even the rotting Undead would instinctively reach out, trying to block the Hero’s gaze.

But its actions dissolved into nothingness under the Hero’s gentle scrutiny.

“…You were once a beautiful person, why did you have to do this?

Surely, there must have been a better way.”

The Hero gently stroked the Witch’s cheek, her voice full of unwillingness.

She had naturally heard of the fairy tale about the Siren Princess, but the past is vast and elusive, even to Pantheon Scholars who cannot grasp every piece of history.

How much truth there is in that fairy tale or how it deviates from history, even the village chief grandma couldn’t say for sure.

However, looking at the terrifying appearance of the Undead in front of her, one could understand that no one would wish for such an end.

The Witch from the distant past had long since died; what remained here was only the residue of ambition and the delusional ghost.

Just as the Princess who beca foam for love, all of this should have returned to a fairy tale, buried in stacks of unknown old papers.

But the remnants of the Witch remained hideously persistent.

What happened in the past, what drove the Witch to do such a thing, the Hero did not know, but she was aware that she couldn’t control it for too long.

Once the Undead received blood, this irrational being would crave more and then enter another round of slaughter.

At that ti, she was not sure if she would be able to leave here alive.

“So I won’t say anything like ‘for your sake’…

I’m just sorry.”

Let put an end to this rotting fairy tale.

The Hero’s eyes grew sharp.

In the next instant, her skin beneath the scales seed to turn red-hot like heated steel, while Purifying Water solidified into spiky leg armor that covered her legs.

Looking at the Witch who gazed at her blankly, she rcilessly lashed out with a kick.

[Hero activates skill: Blaze Power, Sacrifice (Armor Break 19, Purification d50)]

2d28 d95 d50 19 = d28(21) d28(25) d95(61) d50(1) 19 = 127

[Hero inflicts 127 damage on Witch, Beast Spirit Magic Power: 976/1800]

[Witch takes 127-35(Water Shield)-9(Armor)= 83 damage, HP 14/97]

The Hero’s rciless strike ferociously kicked into the body of the Witch’s Ghost.

Her kick, almost tearing through the air, with its imnse strength, shattered the Shark Teeth on its waist, turning the rmaid Shark into a “く” shape, and blasted it out of the lake like a stone skimming over water.

But it wasn’t directly killed; the remaining Water Shield automatically covered the wound, and the rotting magic power and Purifying Water canceled each other out.

Like pouring water into hot oil, the loud explosion was followed by a plu of white smoke, and the violently struck Undead let out a terrible scream in mid-air.

[Witch’s chant (Agility 97, Erosion Sound 60, Heavy Damage-30, Rationality Great Failure-30)]

D97 = d97(34) = 34

[Hero’s counterattack (Agility 40, Water Elent Manipulation d50, Gleaming Scale Serpent’s assistance d40)]

D40 d50 d40 = d40(8) d50(50) d40(7) = 65

[Hero activates skill: Sacrifice]

2d28 d95 d50 69 = d28(9) d28(7) d95(1) d50(2) 69 = 88

Following the strike, the Hero continued her steps without pause.

The warmth from the Blaze Power unfroze her rigidity, driving her to unleash violence.

And the Gleaming Scale Serpent also raised its body proudly, once again releasing a dazzling Enchanting Radiance,

Although such a level of Magic could only delay the Witch’s Ghost’s wail for a mont.

But that was enough.

The Hero stepped into the water.

In the next mont, the lake erupted like a volcano, turning into flas that propelled her forward, sending the Hero flying towards the Undead still in the air like an arrow released from a string.

“—Farewell, Witch who once gave the chance to pursue a dream of love.”

Uttering a lant from an unknown source, the Hero twisted in mid-air.

The whip-like agility of the Princess’s leg made a loud noise in the air, carrying the force of a teor Hamr’s Purifying Power, and sharply descended upon the screaming ghost.

With a thunderous boom, a curtain of water mist burst into the sky, even impacting the cave ceiling above and turning into a drizzle of black raindrops.

Then, everything gradually returned to calm.

[Hero inflicts 88 damage on Witch, Beast Spirit Magic Power: 736/1800]

[Witch takes 88-9=79 damage, HP -65/97]

[Witch’s Ghost: Rotten rmaid Shark LV40 dead]

[Hero gains LV40*R5(2000) = 80000 Experience Points]
