Capítulo 1152: Chapter D472: The Girl in the Dungeon

“That’s how it is!”

The Hero clapped her hands together and made her summary.

Having eliminated the otherworldly elven nace filled with malice towards humankind, and confird there were no more evil presences in the sewers, the Hero returned to the Ancient City Cathedral.

After all, the commotion she caused was quite significant, with rays of light shooting up from half of the district’s manholes, granting the Holy Stage its Blessing; compared to now, the Ancient City must be full of rumors about the Saintess.

Though, for the girl hiding deep within the cathedral, those matters aren’t affecting her for the ti being, but for the Church, the explanation thereafter would probably require considerable effort.

Thus, the Hero found the Ancient Capital Bishop once again and gave a straightforward explanation of last night’s events.

“… Lady Saintess, forgive my ignorance.”

At this mont, the Hero did not deliberately restrain her presence, and the Ancient Capital Bishop was finally able to fully “recognize” her.

Consequently, while she was relieved that she did not offend last night, she struggled to suppress her desire to criticize and her impulse to sigh, her brows twitching slightly as she listened to the Saintess’s narrative.

Actually, there wasn’t really much complexity involved.

But what do you an by saying that on the first night of arrival in the Plain Ancient City, you got off the Floating Ship and went to the sewers to kill a Plague Knight of the Fantasy Species?

Though the bombing caused damage to the underground sewer instead of the Dungeon, it still sowhat invokes a sense of gratitude;

but no matter how you put it…

Looking at the radiant girl in front of him, the Bishop originally wanted to make his tone more stern but ultimately took a deep breath, maintaining a serene expression and said gently:

“Could you please elaborate a bit more?”

Indeed.

The one before him is the Saintess.

Her will is the direction of the Church.

So long as actions are driven by her true intentions, there is nothing that the Saintess cannot do!

That’s why she is opposed to the existence of the Saintess’s position…

“Even if you say so…” Upon hearing this, the Hero appeared slightly troubled.

There’s indeed not much more she could say.

The Bishop pressed his lips tight, a vein protruding from his forehead.

This can’t be, considering she is the Lady Saintess.

Moreover, to control her presence to a degree where the disparity of stature is just enough to be overlooked…

Unlike before when faced with those Mirror Pupils, fully aware that the person before was imasurably stronger, yet his emotions flowed freely with the girl’s words, wholly unrestrained.

Was it intentional last night, after all?

“Apologies, I overstepped. Your Highness, may I have so quiet ti to contemplate the depth of your words?”

“Mhm, no problem.”

Looking at the Bishop, who revealed a serene smile akin to enlightennt, the Hero blinks innocently.

‘She seems upset…’

‘Already chose a path to destruction.’

“Gleaming Scales.” The Hero selectively ignores her own inner death sentence, transmitting quietly to the elegant man beside her, “Was what I said really that hard to understand?”

“It’s not Her Majesty the Empress’s problem,” The Gleaming Scale Serpent who just arrived overnight on an expedited flight sits upright beside her, unfazed as he speaks, “it’s rely that the Bishop needs so ti to sort the information.”

“In fact, your narration was very clear and concise. Taking the commission, locating the prey, and killing the prey, thus resolving the event…”

“An Adventurer’s work essentially revolves around this, simply that you shortened the ti of the process a bit more than usual.”

“Yes, that’s how it is.” Seeing that the Gleaming Scale Serpent perfectly understood her aning, the Hero nodded satisfied.

Even though this world has many complex entanglents that can’t be solved by sheer force alone, there are nevertheless plenty of matters that, despite appearing shrouded in mystery and interwoven, are in fact straightforward.

—Find the damned guy and beat it, or them, to death.

This way, the world can indeed beco a better place.

Though sotis achieving this goal requires extensive effort and taking lengthy detours, the core is simply such.

And yesterday, that Plague Elf undeniably qualifies as a Goblin-like existence.

Although unclear which otherworld it ca from or how many atrocities it committed there, within that spirit, a real malice against humankind truly resides.

A bacterium birthed solely to infect humankind and slaughter lives, even without subjective intent, just its survival mode alone exudes a chilling sense of evil.

Once it transforms into an Elf and awakens consciousness, that evil morphs into explicit malicious intent.

Understanding that the opponent is an entity incapable of coexisting with humankind or even with life, the Hero had no hesitation in delivering a fatal blow.

Like slaying Goblins, quick, precise, ruthless.

“Just shortening the process a bit…” The Bishop repeatedly laughed bitterly.

“However, as the Familiar Lord said, perhaps I’ve gotten dull from not delving into Dungeons for too long.” She chuckled self-mockingly.

Then she stood up and profoundly bowed her head to the Hero.

“Thank you for your tily assistance, Lady Saintess. Were it not for you exterminating that Evil Spirit promptly, this city might have suffered severe casualties.”

A Plague Elf of the Fantasy Species silently infiltrating the urban area and siphoning humankind’s magic power.

It’s hard to imagine the disasters it might bring once fully matured.

“If mishandled, perhaps even the Kingdom…”

I intended to make the situation seem more severe, but halfway through speaking, I suddenly rembered that the Plague Knight was subdued in the sewers less than a day after its appearance. The bishop coughed lightly, his expression subtly nuanced, and bowed once again to the Hero.

“After all, we owe everything to you. I’ll take care of reporting to various parties and other trifles thereafter.”

“It’s part of my duties; I’m the Saintess, after all.” The Hero accepted her bow with ease and then added:

“However, the matter doesn’t end so easily.”

“That elf likely chose that stealthy thod because it hailed from the Otherworld, separated from its native hotbed. It didn’t seem very responsive, so it was dispatched without much effort.

“But since it didn’t command the Arcane Surge, it’s likely not the root cause of the uprising.”

The Hero reminded.

“You mustn’t forget this when sending out communications, you understand?”

“…Naturally.” The Ancient Capital Bishop straightened up, his expression solemn. “Is the Saintess going to personally venture into the dungeon next?”

Though seemingly weakened due to rejection by the world, it remains an abnormal event for Fantasy Species to invade the surface from the dungeon, given the history of the Plain Ancient City.

In the past, the surroundings of the Ancient City were indeed the stronghold of many Demon Kings, but even so, Fantasy Species were a rarity among them, mostly advancing after leaving the dungeon.

One can only imagine how alarming it is for a native Fantasy Species, confird to have potential to advance into a Great Demon, to invade the surface from the dungeon.

In the past, such occurrences were rare not because those powerful Otherworldly Magic Creatures lacked ambition for the Main Material Realm, but because the Starless Dungeon acted as a filtering mbrane.

“Into the dungeon…” Hearing the Ancient Capital Bishop’s inquiry, the Hero showed a trace of reluctance.

“I heard that you once delved into the depths of Starless.” The Hero did not imdiately reply but asked, “How much do you know about its structure, or rather, its origin?”

As an off-the-record peer of the Knowledge Hunters, the Hero contemplated whether to narrate the story straightforwardly to the Ancient Capital Bishop. Yet, upon seeing the white-haired bishop hesitate montarily, he nodded.

“Yes. Although not as detailed as the Mage Scholars, I do know a bit.”

“That’s convenient.” The Hero’s tone contained a hint of regret.

“As expected of a Gem Level Adventurer.”

Without needing to probe for details, the Hero intuitively gauged the extent of the knowledge the other possessed.

Not comprehensive, but sufficient for seamless communication.

“Compared to Lady Saintess, those are re trifles.” The Ancient Capital Bishop humbly shook his head.

“Moreover, the origin of the Land of Starlessness as an extraterrestrial star has long circulated in academic circles, albeit lacking direct evidence.”

Indeed, no one has completely conquered the Starless Dungeon to this day.

“Then you should be aware.” The Hero nodded, “The issue lies in the depths of the dungeon.”

While it’s unfortunate to miss the storytelling, conversing with astute individuals is truly effortless.

“The filtering effect of the Starless Dungeon is weakening, allowing the Otherworldly Magic Power in the depths to overpower the native forces of the dungeon, leading to unprecedented Magic Creature invasions on the surface.” As the Hero voiced his thoughts, a hint of scarcely perceivable apprehension flickered in his gaze.

“It might be a cyclical change… or perhaps, soone has done sothing in the depths.”

“Is that so?” The Ancient Capital Bishop clearly lacked knowledge of a Pantheon Mage’s grand sche and simply let out a groan.

The origin, or core, of the Starless Dungeon represents the greatest of celestial forces that once triggered a great extinction. Its colossal impact even pierced through the world’s barrier, turning the depths of the Material Realm into a “Gate” connecting various worlds, hence naming this continent “Gate.”

This ans the depths of the Starless Dungeon are essentially equivalent to an Otherworld.

Ordinary dungeons, however, stem from Arcane Surges that don’t erupt on the surface, with massive residual Magic Elents perating and twisting surrounding environnts over the years, creating the concept known as “dungeon” Magic Creatures.

The mission of such conceptual Magic Creatures is to disperse the accumulated Magic Power back into the natural cycle.

The dungeons, created for this purpose, generate abundant treasures and Magic Creatures within them, drawing intelligent beings to “conquer” them…

Once the mission is complete, these dungeons vanish.

Although the number of conquests varies based on the amount of Magic Power, it’s never infinite.

Only the Starless Dungeon stands apart. The ability to withstand nearly infinite conquests stems from its possession of nearly limitless Magic Power resources from nurous Otherworlds.

Yet, despite being connected to an Otherworld and originating from extraterrestrial realms, over long ages, the teor itself has been assimilated into the Main World.

It can be understood that the upper half of the Starless Dungeon near the surface, composed of native Magic Elents, serves as the Gate blocking the erosion of Otherworldly Magic Power.

The deeper half, while connected to Otherworlds, also belongs to the Main World, serving a filtering and buffering function.

Like a filtration device layered with cotton, sand, charcoal, and gravel, it can turn turbid water poured into it into clean water.

The entire Starless Dungeon is a purification device for Otherworldly Magic Power.

Thus, each floor of the dungeon is distinctly divided, with deep-level Magic Creatures rarely erging to the shallow levels.

Those bearing heavy Otherworldly aura are further blocked outside by invisible barriers.

The will of the world lacks form, but the dungeon, as a Magic Creature, constructs a real Infinite Boundary Wall.

This barrier surpasses natural obstacles, which even Fantasy Species Magic Creatures cannot easily cross.

Therefore, the root of the incident does not lie with the Plague Elf but within the dungeon itself.

Because the dungeon’s filtering function weakened, the Plague Knight was able to silently invade the surface.

If this was indeed caused by human intervention, then investigating the depths urgently becos imperative.

The Ancient Capital Bishop pondered for a long while before raising his head.

“…But, you seem apprehensive about entering the dungeon?” she tentatively tested with so nervousness.

“Is it that obvious?” Yet the Hero did not mind this cautious probing, blinking as he straightforwardly admitted.
