Sheng Yin wiped away the tears from Yu Shuchang’s corner of the eye and said,
"Let’s go ho, alright?"
Yu Shuchang nodded and subconsciously rubbed his face against her palm.
Sheng Yin’s heart lted.
The ride to Yu Shuchang’s villa was a long one, and both of them stayed silent. They were preparing themselves for the upcoming conversation.
As soon as they reached the outside of the villa, Yu Shuchang practically dragged Sheng Yin to the villa.
Once inside, he led her to the sofa and pressed her shoulder. Sheng Yin sat on the sofa and watched with a complex look as Yu Shuchang went to the kitchen, got her a glass of orange juice, and so dishes.
"Aren’t you curious?" Sheng Yin couldn’t help but ask; her words were laced with probing.
Yu Shuchang chuckled,
"As much as I do want to know the truth, I don’t want you to be hungry. What if you said sothing upsetting and can’t eat after that?
How can I let my newly wedded wife go hungry on the first day of marriage?"
"Oh, so if it wasn’t the first day of our marriage, you might have asked for the story directly." Sheng Yin teased, her eyes flashing with mischievousness.
"Nope." Yu Shuchang shook his head with a serious expression, "For , you are more important, even if it ans I have to kill my curiosity."
With tenderness and affection in his eyes, he gazed at her and said softly,
"Wifey, for , you are my world from now on. In anything and in everything, you will be my priority."
Sheng Yin’s heart pounded. Her cheeks flushed, and she felt as if soone had tossed in sweet candy in her mouth.
She turned away and said softly.
"This won’t wipe away the torture you had committed on yesterday. Don’t try to act cheeky! You will have to bear the consequences of what you have done."
Yu Shuchang curled his pinky finger and touched it with his thumb, raising his remaining three fingers, he said,
"I swear to bear the punishnt and atone for my sin. But for now, eat."
Sheng Yin nodded.
While eating, she realized that Yu Shuchang didn’t pick his chopsticks... no, to be precise, he didn’t have a chopstick at all.
Sheng Yin put down her chopsticks and looked at Yu Shuchang. Her brows furrowed as she noticed he hadn’t touched a single bite of food.
"You’re not eating," she said quietly.
Yu Shuchang smiled faintly and shook his head. "I’m not hungry."
"You didn’t eat last night either," she pointed out.
"I’m really fine, Yin."
She frowned, reached out with her chopsticks, and picked up a small piece of food.
"Open your mouth," she said sternly, holding it out.
Yu Shuchang blinked, surprised. "Wifey, are you trying to feed now?"
"Shut up and eat," she snapped, but her tone was soft.
Seeing the seriousness in her eyes, Yu Shuchang sighed and opened his mouth, letting her feed him. He chewed slowly and looked down at the food, then back at her.
"Thank you," he said gently.
After breakfast, they didn’t speak for a long ti.
They just sat across from each other, eyes locked, the weight of unspoken truths pressing between them.
Finally, Sheng Yin took a deep breath.
"I want to tell you sothing," she said slowly. "You might think it’s ridiculous... but you have to believe ."
Yu Shuchang straightened in his seat and nodded without hesitation. "I’ll believe you."
Sheng Yin looked down at her hands for a second, then t his gaze.
"This is my second life."
Yu Shuchang’s eyes widened slightly, but he didn’t interrupt.
"In my previous life... we didn’t et like this. We t when Yu Holea had already returned to Goddess City.
I wasn’t the A-rank actress I am now. I was still struggling—just sowhere between B-rank and C-rank."
She gave a bitter smile. "But even then, I admired you. Since childhood, actually."
Yu Shuchang’s throat bobbed, but he stayed quiet.
"You proposed a contract relationship then, too," she continued.
"To shut your mother up. And I agreed, thinking it would just be pretend. But I couldn’t help it... I fell in love with you."
Yu Shuchang’s frown deepened. "You’re saying... I didn’t feel the sa?"
Sheng Yin looked him straight in the eyes. "You were indifferent. Cold. You never showed any warmth, not like now."
He imdiately shook his head.
"No. I can’t believe that. I don’t know anything about a past life, but what I do know is... in this one, I was already taking care of you for years.
Maybe at first it was because you were Yu Holea’s best friend, but after the contract... just two weeks in, I knew. I was in love."
Sheng Yin rolled her eyes. "Don’t flatter yourself. In your past life, you treated like a little sister."
Yu Shuchang flinched.
"If you were in love back then," she said, her voice gaining strength, "then why didn’t you say anything? Why didn’t you stop when I was breaking inside?"
Yu Shuchang’s lips parted, but no words ca out.
"What did I do?" he asked finally, almost in a whisper.
Sheng Yin’s eyes burned with tears and fury.
"I gave you flowers and chocolates one day. It took days to get the courage. You accepted them... and I was so happy.
But later I found them in the trash bin. I asked you why. And you said, ’They were just flowers.’"
Yu Shuchang looked stunned. His eyes searched hers as if trying to deny it, but her pain was too raw.
"There were so many tis I tried to be close to you. I thought maybe if I stayed patient, one day you’d see . But you never did. You always brushed it off or made excuses. You never let in."
Yu Shuchang looked like he’d been punched. He leaned back slightly, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I don’t understand... I would never... throw away sothing like that. Not from you."
"Well," she said bitterly, "you did. That version of you did."
Silence fell between them again.
The weight of her words crashed down, and Yu Shuchang couldn’t stop himself from murmuring,
"Then the reason why you pushed toward Susan..."
On a closer look, Yu Shuchang’s eyes were filled with unspoken fear, and Sheng Yin’s words confird his worst fear.
"Yes, you and Susan were dating." Sheng Yin shouted, her eyes brimming with tears.
Yu Shuchang shot up from his seat like he’d been burned.
"That’s impossible!" he shouted, his voice cracking. "? With Susan? No way!"
"It’s true!" Sheng Yin shouted back, her voice trembling with emotion. "You dated her, Shuchang! You held her hand, smiled at her like you used to smile at ... You were with her when I—"
Her voice broke. Tears spilled from her eyes, fast and hot. The dam she had kept sealed inside her finally burst.
Yu Shuchang panicked.
"No—no, don’t cry, please..." He rushed to her side, his hands trembling as he gently cupped her face, wiping her tears away with the pads of his thumbs.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry... Damn it, I’m so sorry..." he whispered over and over, like a broken prayer.
"That version of ... he was an idiot. A blind fool. He didn’t deserve you. I swear if I could go back, I’d beat him senseless."
Sheng Yin’s shoulders trembled, but she didn’t push him away. His touch was warm, desperate, and genuine.
Little by little, her breathing steadied. The sobs faded into quiet sniffles, her gaze softening.
Yu Shuchang let out a sigh of relief, still cradling her cheek. "Are you... Okay now?"
She gave a small nod.
They sat in silence for a few monts. Then Yu Shuchang spoke again, this ti in a much softer voice.
"Yin... did I ever tell you I loved her?"
Sheng Yin stilled, eyes widening slightly.
"No," she said finally, her voice low. "Not with words."
Yu Shuchang frowned deeply. Sothing didn’t sit right with him.
"Then... what were my actions like?" he asked slowly. "What did I do?"
Sheng Yin hesitated. Her fingers curled around the hem of her sleeve, twisting it.
"You were... attentive to her," she said at last. "You always asked for a private place to talk with her. Sotis, you even chatted with her for hours."
Yu Shuchang’s chest tightened. It sounded like how he treated Sheng Yin now.
"And what about you?" he asked gently, though it hurt to ask. "What did I do for you?"
Sheng Yin paused for a bit before saying,
"You were kind to . You found different roles, promoted , and even got endorsent, sotis you even...ambiguously...flirted with . But whenever I thought of confessing, you said that you treated as a sibling.
When I tried to be close, you pulled away. When I cried in front of you... You told not to be childish."
Yu Shuchang clenched his fists. His jaw tightened, and for a long mont, he couldn’t even look at her. He was trying to stop himself from breaking down in guilt.
