"Like Cai Bao, the grandmother of the richest man in the country."

The ntion of Cai Bao’s na sent a ripple of realization through the crowd.

Heads turned toward the temple steps, where Cai Bao was still observing quietly, her expression unreadable.

Yu i’s eyes widened, and she quickly put on a puzzled expression.

"Grandmother of the richest man?" she asked, her voice laced with confusion.

"What are you talking about? I don’t even know who that is!"

The crowd seed montarily taken aback by her reaction.

"I just wanted to help!" Yu i continued, her voice trembling slightly.

"I didn’t know anything about these beggars or their story. I must’ve been tricked too!"

The woman in the white dress, catching on to Yu i’s tactic, nodded quickly.

"Yes, too! I had no idea!"

The murmurs grew quieter as the crowd tried to make sense of the situation.

So people seed unconvinced, while others began to lower their phones, unsure of what to believe.

Cai Bao turned slowly and walked into the temple without a word, leaving the two won standing awkwardly in the courtyard.

Yu i’s fake smile quickly vanished as she turned to face the woman in the white dress.

Her brows furrowed, and her voice carried a sharp edge.

"Excuse ," Yu i began, her tone calm but laced with accusation, "but why are you here? And why, of all things, did you use the exact sa trick as ?"

The woman in the white dress raised an eyebrow, her cold gaze locking onto Yu i’s.

She crossed her arms and replied with equal sharpness,

"Why am I here? This is a public temple. I have every right to be here. Maybe the real question is: why are you here, pretending to be so kind of saint?"

Yu i narrowed her eyes, her voice rising slightly.

"Pretending? At least I didn’t show up copying soone else’s plan! You clearly knew I was already helping a beggar, yet you had the nerve to pull the sa stunt."

The woman in the white dress scoffed, her expression icy.

"Copying you? Don’t flatter yourself. I don’t need to copy anyone, especially not you. I help people because it’s in my nature, not for show."

Yu i folded her arms, refusing to back down.

"Really? Then why was your beggar telling the exact sa story as mine? Coincidence? I don’t think so."

The woman’s cold deanor turned into a scornful smirk.

"Maybe you should be asking your own beggar why he didn’t co up with sothing more original. And for the record, don’t assu you’re the only one who can stand out."

The tension between the two won grew thicker, and a few curious onlookers lingered, pretending not to listen but clearly interested in the unfolding drama.

Yu i clenched her fists but forced a mocking laugh.

"Stand out? You think dressing up like so fairy in white makes you special? Please. I’ve dealt with people like you before—nothing but empty talk."

The woman in the white dress stepped closer, her voice dropping to a low, threatening tone.

"Watch your mouth. Do you even know who you’re talking to? I’m not just so random woman. I belong to the Wu family, one of the most prestigious families in the country."

Yu i raised an unimpressed eyebrow.

"The Wu family? And I’m supposed to be scared? Listen, I don’t care which family you co from. This is my business, and you should stay out of it."

The woman’s eyes narrowed, her tone even colder now.

"You should care. Crossing is the last thing you want to do. I don’t need to play petty gas to get what I want. Unlike you, I have real power behind ."

Yu i’s lips curled into a smirk.

"Power? All I see is soone desperate for attention. If you were so powerful, you wouldn’t need to show off at a temple, trying to impress people."

The woman in the white dress stepped back, her face composed but her voice icy as frost.

"You’ll regret underestimating . Consider this your first and only warning: stay out of my way, or you’ll see just how powerful the Wu family can be."

Yu i let out a short, dismissive laugh.

"Warnings, threats... How boring. If you’re done talking, I’ll get back to my own business. You don’t scare , Miss Wu, or whatever your na is."

The woman in the white dress shot one last glare at Yu i before turning on her heel and walking away with an air of confidence.

Yu i watched her go, her expression hard.

She muttered under her breath,

"Prestigious family or not, you’re just another obstacle in my way. Let’s see who cos out on top."

Yu i waited for the crowd to thin out, her sharp eyes following Cai Bao as the elderly woman entered the temple.

Pretending to pray, Yu i slowly made her way closer to the inner hall, careful not to draw attention.

She noticed Cai Bao sitting near a monk, her posture straight and composed. Yu i paused behind a nearby pillar, straining to hear their conversation.

"I’m not satisfied with my future second granddaughter-in-law," Cai Bao said, her voice low but firm.

The monk nodded thoughtfully.

"What kind of person are you looking for, Madam Cai?"

Cai Bao sighed.

"I want soone who is devoted to the gods, soone who cos to the temple every day and worships sincerely for at least three hours. A person with a pure heart who understands the value of family and tradition."

Yu i’s eyes lit up as she listened.

So Cai Bao isn’t happy with the current choice? This is my chance.

Though her pri goal was to sully Yu Holea’s na, the thriller of snatching away Yu Holea’s favourite person from her, made her heart race.

She smiled to herself, already forming a plan.

If that’s what she wants, then that’s what I’ll be. A perfect, devoted future granddaughter-in-law.

She adjusted her posture, clasping her hands together as if in prayer, and began planning how to make herself appear exactly like the woman Cai Bao described.

anwhile, the woman in the white dress, Miss Wu, stepped into her sleek black car, her expression as cold as ever.

Her assistant, a young man with neatly combed hair, waited nervously in the driver’s seat.

"Miss Wu, everything alright?" he asked hesitantly.

Miss Wu didn’t answer imdiately. Instead, she pulled out her phone and scrolled through her ssages.

"Investigate those beggars," she said curtly. "I want to know if they were hired by soone else to ss with us and why their stories were identical. Soone’s playing gas, and I don’t like it."

The assistant nodded. "Right away, Miss Wu."

She leaned back in her seat, her sharp eyes narrowing as she recalled the scene at the temple.

"And find out more about that old woman—Cai Bao," she added.

The assistant glanced at her in surprise. "Cai Bao? The grandmother of Qiao Jun?"

"Yes," Miss Wu replied coldly.

"Earlier, I received a tip that she would be at the temple today. The ssage also said that if I win her favor, Qiao Jun will have no choice but to marry ."

The assistant hesitated.

"Do you think the tip was genuine, Miss Wu? It could’ve been a setup."

Miss Wu smirked.

"That’s what I’m trying to find out. Whoever sent that tip knew about Cai Bao’s expectations. Whether it’s true or not, I’m not taking any chances. Qiao Jun belongs to , and I’ll do whatever it takes to secure my position."

The assistant nodded, making a ntal note to investigate thoroughly.

"I’ll handle it, Miss Wu. We’ll get to the bottom of this."

Miss Wu glanced out the window, her lips curling into a confident smile.

"Good. No one steals what’s mine."

As the car drove away, her mind raced with strategies. She wasn’t about to let any woman—or anyone else—stand in her way.

As Miss Wu’s car sped away from the temple, her assistant tapped a few keys on his tablet, searching for information about the beggars.

After a hour.

"Miss Wu," he said after a few monts, "I’ve traced the first beggar. His na is Lao Shen. He’s a well-known street perforr in the area, usually sticking to the marketplaces."

Miss Wu’s eyes narrowed. "And the second one?"

"Still digging," the assistant replied, scrolling through his notes.

"But I found sothing interesting. Both beggars were seen talking to a man nad Wang Bo recently before us. He’s known for arranging these kinds of stunts—for a price."

Miss Wu smirked.

"So they were hired soone else first. Contact Wang Bo and find out who paid him. I want the truth by tonight."

anwhile, in a small alley not far from the temple, the two beggars, Lao Shen and the second man, Zhang Fei, were arguing heatedly.

"You overreacted! You should have thought put so distance! Now soone is investigating us! Boss Wang said that if the other party found out about our real employer, he will kill us both!"
