Chapter 573: Chapter 571 Direct Confrontation_1
Upon hearing Luo Tianhong’s words, Bai Yu looked at her curiously and asked, "Who is this young girl?"
At Bai Yu’s question, everyone beca uneasy. After all, none of them knew Luo Tianhong’s actual identity.
Luo Tianhong impatiently walked up to Bai Yu. "I’m already an adult, you know! Stop treating
like a little kid, okay?"
Seeing Luo Tianhong’s behavior, the crowd wanted to laugh but didn’t dare.
Wang Zhan stepped forward and said with a smile, "We do indeed have so matters to handle."
Bai Yu looked at Wang Zhan, his gaze lingering on the Deep Fire Blade on Wang Zhan’s back. He knew it was a divine weapon and understood its potency. "Isn’t it better to deal with the tal Maniac first?" Bai Yu asked. "After all, its presence in the fifth war zone greatly affects us."
Moreover, the divine weapon Deep Fire Blade has already chosen its master. If Wang Zhan joins my side, my odds against the tal Maniac will significantly improve, Bai Yu mused.
But Wang Zhan hesitated. He didn’t know what the treasure Luo Tianhong ntioned truly was. If it truly has the potential to raise our cultivation, it could greatly help us now, he thought. After all, on the Star War Battlefield, strength is paramount. Without it, words are just empty talk.
"Brother Wang Zhan, you shouldn’t believe this guy," Luo Tianhong said, quickly walking over to Wang Zhan. She took his arm and started pulling him in another direction. "You know who he is—one of the eight war gods of the fifth war zone. His main concern is the peace of the fifth war zone. But we’re different; we only need to protect ourselves."
Wang Zhan sighed helplessly. He could only look at Bai Yu and shake his head. "So, we’ll leave first then?"
Although Bai Yu looked disappointed, he said nothing. After all, the tal Maniac was a level 1 demonic beast. It would be best if Wang Zhan was willing to act, but if he wasn’t, Bai Yu couldn’t force him.
Xiang Zhanfei and the others stood by silently, no one saying a word.
Seeing Wang Zhan walking away, Xiang Tian sprinted over and blocked his path. "Did you forget how Old Mao died? Are you really going to stand by and do nothing?"
Wang Zhan narrowed his eyes slightly, the image of Old Mao’s tragic death vivid in his mind.
"Wang Zhan, I know you’re not that heartless," Xiang Tian pressed. "I know you want to avenge Old Mao, right?"
"So why don’t we team up with Bai Yu, eliminate the tal Maniac, and restore peace to the fifth war zone?"
Xiang Tian’s current priority was to convince Wang Zhan. Since Bai Yu himself has spoken up, it ans the tal Maniac’s combat power might even exceed his, Xiang Tian reasoned. And Wang Zhan is the strongest among us here. If we can get Wang Zhan to help, things will beco much easier. With Wang Zhan and Bai Yu joining forces, backed by two divine weapons, even a formidable tal Maniac wouldn’t stand a chance.
Wang Zhan stared at Luo Tianhong for a long mont, clearly hesitating. Should I help Bai Yu and the others or not? It was indeed a difficult decision.
Ti ticked by, second by second. All eyes were fixed on Wang Zhan, awaiting his answer. His decision would determine their next move.
"Brother Wang Zhan, I need to tell you sothing. Co over here for a mont."
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Luo Tianhong pulled Wang Zhan away from the group. Once they were aside, she said, "Brother Wang Zhan, since Bai Yu has been alerted, it’s very likely soone else has already gotten wind of the treasure I ntioned. If we go back to deal with the tal Maniac now, we’ll lose even more of a head start. We might end up making the trip for nothing."
"I don’t think you’d want that to happen, right?"
"So, let’s just do as I say. We’ll sneak off, just the two of us, and not worry about any of this."
"Especially when it cos to fighting the tal Maniac. If anything goes wrong, we might not even make it out alive."
She does have a point, Wang Zhan thought. He rubbed his temples, his expression grim. I still don’t know what to do.
Everyone behind him was watching, waiting for his reply. Bai Yu, in particular, was visibly impatient to set off. Bai Yu is the lone wolf among the eight war gods. If even he can’t handle a level 1 demonic beast, then it would be much more dangerous for
to intervene, Wang Zhan mused.
He remained hesitant. I’m not exactly a saint, but an invitation from one of the eight war gods... I need to think this through carefully. After all, who knows how long we’ll have to stay on this Star War Battlefield? An extra friend ans an extra path.
After thinking for a long while, Wang Zhan patted Luo Tianhong’s shoulder and said slowly, "Alright. We’ll deal with the tal Maniac first."
"But—"
Luo Tianhong started to protest, but Wang Zhan had already pulled her aside. He then turned to Bai Yu and said, "Alright, things are mostly settled. Let’s set out and resolve the issue here first. Then we can look for the treasure together."
Bai Yu smiled, satisfied. Xiang Zhanfei and the others also looked delighted. Bai Yu then patted Luo Tianhong on the shoulder and said, "I don’t know what you two are planning to investigate, but the fifth war zone is far more dangerous than you imagine. Of course, if you help
deal with the tal Maniac, I can accompany you to find the treasure you’re looking for."
Luo Tianhong replied, "I’ll hold you to that! If we make it back alive, don’t you forget your promise."
Wang Zhan smiled with satisfaction. Having Bai Yu with us offers an extra layer of security. After all, the weakest of the eight war gods is at least at the initial Martial King Realm. Bai Yu is also a Martial King, yet even I can’t gauge his true depth, he thought. There are three sub-realms within each major realm, and the gap between each is like a massive watershed. There’s no comparison between the early stage and the peak stage. To put it simply, a peak Martial King could easily handle three early-stage Martial Kings and remain undefeated.
Of course, that’s not how I see it for myself, Wang Zhan thought. With the System backing , my actual combat strength is far beyond what others can imagine.
Now that the decision was made, they wasted no ti.
Bai Yu had given Xiang Zhanfei and his group a direction, so Wang Zhan no longer needed to worry about their safety. However, just as Xiang Zhanfei was about to lead his people away, Xiang Tian froze and then walked over to Wang Zhan.
Wang Zhan narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Xiang Tian with curiosity. "Aren’t you going with your father and the others?"
Xiang Tian shrugged. "It’s more interesting with you. Back at the camp, it’s just the sa old routine every day."
Xiang Tian had grown accustod to being with Wang Zhan during this period—or rather, he actively wanted to stay by Wang Zhan’s side. After all, Wang Zhan’s combat power is undeniable; I’ve seen it with my own eyes, Xiang Tian thought.
Hearing Xiang Tian’s words, Xiang Zhanfei smiled approvingly. He walked over to his son, patted his shoulder, and said, "Good. My son has truly grown up."
Xiang Tian rely shrugged, his gaze already fixed on Wang Zhan.
Bai Yu said, "Ti is short. Let’s move out imdiately." He then slung his Dual Guns over his back and started walking towards the interior of the fifth war zone. Wang Zhan and Luo Tianhong followed without hesitation.
anwhile, Xiang Zhanfei was already leading his n towards the sunset. Their priority was to rendezvous with the people in the camp. Without Wang Zhan’s protection, they proceeded with extre caution every step of the way. If they encountered a beast, the consequences would be dire. Thus, they needed to make the best use of their ti and press forward.
After traveling for so distance, the fifth war zone around them remained desolate and eerily silent.
Not a human nor a beast was in sight. Then, they suddenly spotted a massive deep pit nearby. Wang Zhan’s expression instantly turned grim.
Bai Yu might not have known the significance of the deep pit, but Wang Zhan and Xiang Tian knew all too well: it was entirely Old Mao’s doing.
If Old Mao hadn’t sacrificed his life to block that royal level assailant, we’d all be scorched earth by now, Wang Zhan thought, his heart heavy.
But this wasn’t the ti for grief. Wang Zhan and his group quickened their pace, and after about half a day’s travel, they arrived back at the camp previously set up by Xiang Tian and his companions.
Standing on a high point in the camp, Wang Zhan saw that the entire area was engulfed in a Sea of Fire.
This was because after Wang Zhan had taken the Deep Fire Blade, magma from the Earth Core had surged upwards, causing fire to spill into the camp. As a result, the surrounding area had been transford into scorched earth.
Fortunately, although the magma had altered the surface temperature, the ground was still stable enough for them to stand on. Luckily, the volu of magma wasn’t excessive, so they weren’t in imdiate danger.
However, after carefully surveying the area, they found no sign of the tal Maniac.
Xiang Tian shrugged, a nonchalant smile on his face. "Could it have burned to death?"
Bai Yu interjected, "Impossible. From what I know, the tal Maniac is a peak existence among level 1 demonic beasts. Due to its incredibly strong defense, it can even hold its own against level 2 beasts, or perhaps even stronger ones."
"Even if I were to face the tal Maniac alone, I couldn’t be certain of the outco."
As he spoke, Bai Yu took the Dual Guns from his back. They needed to remain constantly prepared for battle; only then could they avoid being caught off guard when the tal Maniac appeared.
