After Connor heard this sentence, he confird that he wasn't dreaming, and he hadn't co to the wrong place.

This was the Empire World Corporation, but sothing seed to have happened to the company recently.

"You co with ..."

Connor waved to the head of security and walked away.

After a mont, he, accompanied by the head of security, reached a quiet spot.

"What's your na?" he asked the security head.

"Mr. Connor, you can call Dave..."

The head of security nervously replied.

"Is Thomas no longer the CEO of Empire World Corporation?"

Connor asked in a low voice.

"Yes, Mr. Connor, so ti ago, the company suddenly received a notice that the CEO had changed. Not only did the CEO change but everyone in our company was replaced. Even the receptionist was changed. Only us security guards were not replaced because, after all, we're here to guard the entrance, and changing us wouldn't make much sense..." Dave replied.

After hearing his words, Connor finally understood why the receptionist didn't recognize Thomas earlier.

"Do you know what exactly happened in the company?" he continued to inquire.

"I'm not sure about that..."

Dave shook his head directly.

"You said I was dead. What's that all about?"

"Well..."

Dave hesitated with an uncertain expression and then said softly, "Mr. Connor, I heard so rumors. It's said that you seed to have died, and our Empire World Corporation's owner changed. So, Thomas left the company. The new owner wanted to prevent any of Thomas's connections from staying in the company, so they directly dismissed everyone and replaced them with their own people..."

"The new owner?"

Connor's expression appeared strange, and he coldly chuckled, saying, "Is this new owner surnad Lee?"

"I'm not very sure about that..."

Dave shook his head.

"Do you have Thomas's contact information?"

Connor asked Dave in a low voice.

"Yes..."

Dave nodded and then took out his phone to find Thomas's phone number.

Thomas's phone number was not a secret within the Empire World Corporation; almost everyone had it. Thomas also kept the numbers of all employees, making it easy to reach them in case of ergencies.

After Connor had Leah write down Thomas's phone number, he left the building.

"Connor, what's going on? Why doesn't anyone in your company recognize you?"

After leaving with him, she asked in a puzzled tone.

"It seems soone got the news of my death and took over Empire World Corporation..."

Connor replied casually and then used Leah's phone to dial Thomas's phone number.

"Ring... ring..."

After a long ti, Thomas finally answered the phone.

"Hello, may I ask who's calling?"

Thomas's voice sounded.

"Thomas, it's , Connor!"

Connor said calmly.

On the other end of the phone, Thomas was silent for two seconds after hearing this, and then his voice trembled as he said, "Mr. Connor, you're really not dead?"

"I'm perfectly fine now. Where are you? I'll co to find you!"

Connor asked.

Thomas quickly told Connor his location.

Half an hour later,

Connor and Leah arrived at Thomas's villa.

Upon seeing Connor, Thomas was exceptionally excited. He gave Connor a big hug.

Connor felt sowhat puzzled by his sudden emotional outburst because he had never seen this side of Thomas before.

"Thomas, that's enough. I told you I'm not dead. What's with all this?" Connor said with a hint of helplessness as Thomas kept holding onto him.

"Mr. Connor, it's just incredible that you're alive," Thomas finally let go of Connor and said with excitent in his voice.

"Where is Freya now?" Connor's primary concern was Freya's whereabouts.

"Mr. Connor, Miss Freya is currently at Diana's residence, protected by Diana and Carlos. She's very safe; you don't need to worry," Thomas said.

"How is her condition?" Connor continued to inquire.

"Miss Freya's condition has remained unchanged, just like when you left," Thomas replied.

"That's good," Connor sighed with relief. At this point, he wasn't expecting Freya to wake up on her own. As long as her condition didn't deteriorate, it was already a positive sign.

"What exactly happened with the company?" Connor asked Thomas.

Thomas, noticing Connor's slightly frustrated expression, began to explain, "A week ago, the nephew of the forr chairman, Yannick, suddenly arrived in Porthampton with a group of people. He found and told that you had died in Crimson Peak. I initially didn't believe the news, but I tried calling you many tis, and you didn't answer. Yannick was very confident that the news was true, so I began to consider the possibility..."

Thomas paused for a mont before continuing, "Originally, the inheritance should have gone to you after the forr chairman's passing. However, since you hadn't married Miss Freya, the chairman's properties were technically still under his na. But if you were indeed dead, then Yannick would inherit the assets..."

"So he forcibly took over the inheritance?" Connor furrowed his brow.

"Not exactly," Thomas gently shook his head. "I couldn't be completely sure that you were dead, and there was no evidence of your body. Therefore, I absolutely couldn't allow Yannick to inherit the assets. But I was concerned that he might have ill intentions toward because if I were to die, there would be no one to stop him from taking control of the forr chairman's properties."

"To appease his emotions, I voluntarily handed over control of Empire World Corporation in Porthampton to him. I told him that if I could confirm your death, I would let him inherit all the assets."

"You were stalling for ti, weren't you?" Connor chuckled.

"More or less," Thomas smiled. "At that ti, I didn't have a clear understanding of what had happened. All I could do was try to buy you so ti. Fortunately, you returned just in ti. Yannick just recently took over Empire World Corporation, so the situation could be recovered."
