anwhile, atop Spring Mountain,
Wadi lay on the ground, his expression contorted with intense pain. Although Connor had ultimately chosen not to kill him, the execution of Wadi's Soul-Devouring Slash had inflicted significant damage to his body.
At this mont, hecould hardly muster the strength to stand on his own.
In a nearby corner, a figure had been surreptitiously observing everything transpiring on Spring Mountain. This person was Wesley .
Originally tasked by Palr, Wesley had arrived early at the summit. He had witnessed the fierce battle between Wadi and Connor, and now, he finally grasped the true extent of Connor's terror. Despite several minutes having passed since Connor descended the mountain, Wesley still couldn't shake off his unease.
Hiding in the shadows for quite so ti, Wesley confird that Connor had unequivocally left before cautiously erging from his concealnt. He then hastened over to Wadi and fervently exclaid, "Mr. Wadi, are you alright?"
"Who are you?"
Wadi turned his head and looked at Wesley, his tone tinged with confusion.
"Mr. Wadi, I'm a subordinate of Mr. Palr!" Wesley hurriedly explained, then clenched his teeth and continued, "That damned Connor has truly left you in this state, which is utterly despicable…"
"Connor's rcy in sparing today is already an act of righteousness. Help up," Wadi muttered softly to Wesley.
Upon hearing his words, Wesley's expression took on a peculiar look. He quickly extended his hand and assisted Wadi to his feet.
As Wesley tried to help him forward, he noticed that Wadi seed unable to exert any strength in his legs and arms.
"Mr. Wadi, perhaps I should carry you down?" Wesley tentatively suggested.
Wadi struggled briefly, realizing he was unable to walk. He sighed with resignation and said, "Thank you for your help."
"It's no trouble. After all, Mr. Wadi, you stepped up for the martial artists of Honduria this ti. It's the least I can do," Wesley replied with a hearty chuckle as he lifted Wadi onto his back.
Once Wadi was on his back, Wesley did sothing unexpected, he didn't head down the mountain but walked directly toward the edge of the cliff.
Wadi began to sense that sothing was amiss and struggled on Wesley's back.
"Mr. Wadi, didn't I just tell you? I'm taking you down the mountain!"
"Down the mountain?"
Wadi stared in bewildernt.
"Mr. Wadi, I apologize, but Mr. Palr instructed that if you were to lose to Connor today, you must die here. Furthermore, it must be known to everyone that you were killed by Connor!"
Having said this, Wesley exerted force and flung Wadi off his back, sending him hurtling down the cliff.
Wadi was now completely immobile, so he silently plumted from Spring Mountain at Wesley's hands.
Spring Mountain's elevation was at least several hundred ters, and falling from such a height would be a challenge for even a Grand Martial Master. For a warrior like Wadi whose ridians were already severed, survival seed nearly impossible.
Wesley gazed at the steep precipice, took a deep breath, then turned and left along the narrow path.
In fact, Palr had foreseen the uncertainty of today's battle outco. There was a possibility that Connor might defeat Wadi.
If Connor erged victorious, Palr would lose everything he had. Hence, he couldn't allow such a situation to unfold.
Palr had arranged for Wesley to wait atop the mountain. Regardless of the victor, Wesley was to eliminate the losing party.
If Connor lost, killing him would eliminate future threats.
If Wadi lost, Wesley would slay him, then fra and implicate Connor. Faris, driven by vengeance, would target him, diverting his attention away from Palr, ultimately allowing Palr to escape unscathed.
Of course, the city-wide blackout earlier had been orchestrated by Palr as well. Since the battle was being live-stread, he couldn't afford any witnesses to Connor and Wadi's fight details. This way, Wadi's death could be unequivocally pinned on Connor.
Palr's plan was flawless; regardless of the outco, he had an escape route.
Just as Wesley departed, Honduria's martial artists arrived to search for Wadi.
However, after scouring the area, they found no trace of him.
Unaware of Wadi's fatal plunge, they assud he had already left on his own.
Thus concluded today's battle.
News of Connor's victory over Wadi spread across the world in less than half a day.
Henceforth, the na 'Connor or 'Mr. Connor' would be familiar to all martial artists.
As for another shocking revelation, it wasn't long before news of Faris's grandson's death surfaced.
Wadi had fallen beneath Spring Mountain.
Most people attributed this tragedy to Connor. After all, many knew about the fierce battle between Wadi and Connor, and how Connor had erged victorious and slain Wadi. In the world of warriors, battles had only one outco: life or death. Nurous warriors t their end in such encounters, so even the police rarely interfered.
Yet, the martial artists of Honduria were well aware that Wadi's death couldn't be that simple.
He was, after all, Faris's grandson!
