anwhile, at the crack of dawn, Arlecchino erged from a steaming bath, wrapped in a robe. She looked out the window at the rising sun over Mont Automnequi, its peaks shrouded in white mist. It looked like another beautiful day.
She sat on the edge of her bed and gently massaged her own toes. She could still feel the sensation of pressing down on him. It was quite a fine sword. That child... he's grown so much. A flicker of sothing crossed her unique eyes.
She let go of her foot and picked up the newspaper from the bedside table, scanning the information. After a mont, she put it back down with a soft sigh.
"It seems it is ti for to go back. But at least I managed to give him this birthday gift before I leave."
Muttering to herself, Arlecchino slipped out of her robe and began to dress in the uniform laid out on her bed. Just as she finished, she sensed sothing and said coolly, "Co out."
A ripple appeared in the air, and a fissure like a shattered mirror opened. A tall, masked woman stepped out and knelt respectfully on the floor. It was a Mirror Maiden.
"Lord 'The Knave'," the woman said deferentially, even though she was facing Arlecchino's back. "By order of Lord 'The Jester,' I am here to inform you that you are to return to Snezhnaya in a few days to receive a new deploynt."
As the end of the year approached, it was ti for the Fatui Harbingers' routine reunion. In the new year, each would be assigned new tasks. But almost every Harbinger felt annoyed by their assignnts, because the tasks given by the Jester always required them to sacrifice their personal interests. And not only that, the thought of having to deal with boring politicians, wealthy rchants, and that crazy scientist again darkened Arlecchino's mood. Her annoyance wasn't with their status, but with her two particular colleagues: The Mayor and The Regrator. Since her future operations would be impossible to hide from them, her mood soured.
But no matter how bad her mood was, she would not refuse the order. It was a tradition passed down through generations.
After coolly replying that she would depart for Snezhnaya, she rubbed her smooth chin, her eyes calm as she looked out the window. On second thought, this was also an opportunity. A test, to see if her "children" could stand on their own after she left...
