"No way!"

"Sothing this big, I definitely can’t have no recollection of it, there must be sothing I don’t know about!"

Zhu Lin suddenly saw the gravity of the situation; his mind was sowhat muddled for a mont, but once he ca to his senses and carefully read the confirmation letter again, he noticed the most crucial piece of information--

Chief Researcher in the collaboration: Academician Zhao Yi.

"Academician Zhao?"

Zhu Lin imdiately felt very surprised and finally realized what was going on. It had to be Zhao Yi reaching so research and developnt collaboration with Red Wind Industry. Red Wind Industry was a military-industrial manufacturing enterprise, whose research direction was inclined towards chanics and materials. It made sense for them to collaborate with the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration, essentially using the laboratory as a bridge for cooperation.

"However..."

"Isn’t this just wanting to use our laboratory’s equipnt and staff?"

"Shouldn’t they have asked first?"

Zhu Lin imdiately felt dissatisfied. He was a researcher and person in charge of the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration, a pillar-level professor within the chanical Engineering Departnt. His research achievents might not be as illustrious as Zhao Yi’s, but he was also a notable figure in academic circles. The Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration was his domain, and they had decided without even consulting him?

Wasn’t that a bit too much?

As Zhu Lin was thinking this, he heard conversation outside. His assistant researcher ca over with Zhao Yi, and Zhu Lin could tell the purpose of the visit just by looking at them. Despite so dissatisfaction, he still rose to greet them, "Academician Zhao, what brings you here?"

"Is it about the collaboration with Red Wind Industry?" The undertone of the latter question implied a dig, suggesting that you collaborate through our lab without even informing about it.

Zhao Yi, however, paid no attention to Zhu Lin’s tone but apologized, "It was very rushed, my apologies. I only just agreed with them yesterday, and I had thought it would take so ti. I didn’t expect them to react so quickly. I just found out myself--they’ve already sent the confirmation letter and said we’ll sign the collaborative R&D agreent in a couple of days."

"I see," Zhu Lin nodded.

Although Zhao Yi sounded apologetic, Zhu Lin still felt sowhat irritated. He thought he should make things difficult for Zhao Yi, to let out so of his anger before signing the confirmation letter, otherwise, he’d feel too stifled.

After thinking for a mont, Zhu Lin said, "I’ve looked over the confirmation letter sent by Red Wind Industry. You’re collaborating with them on the R&D of industrial spindles, right? This R&D project is fine, but it’s not quite in line with our lab, and moreover..."

He was about to continue when Zhao Yi said,

"Here’s the thing. Our collaborative R&D mainly takes place at Yanhua University, and we do need so basic equipnt, which is why we chose the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration. However, rest assured Professor Zhu, I’m also a professor at Yanhua University. We’re colleagues, and I definitely won’t let you be on the losing end. This collaboration is transparent, and any results will be credited to the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration."

"Also, the funding for the collaborative R&D, all of it, is coming from Red Wind Industry. Initially, it’s five million yuan, with one million allocated to support upgrading and maintaining lab equipnt, and the rest will cover experintal expenses, including staff salaries, experintal consumables, and so on."

While listening, Zhu Lin kept nodding, and after Zhao Yi finished speaking, his face nearly burst into a smile as he emphatically assured, "Don’t worry! Academician Zhao, the lab will cooperate in every way."

"You need equipnt, I’ll provide it!"

"You need technology, I’ll provide it!"

"You need people, I’ll provide them!"

"All resources of the lab are at your disposal, we’ll spare no effort to guarantee the progress of the collaborative R&D!"

"Thank you in advance!"

Zhao Yi finished speaking with Zhu Lin and then left.

Zhu Lin sat back down to think about the collaborative R&D and the lab equipnt upgrade it entailed, and joy surged in his heart. But all of a sudden, he felt sothing wasn’t quite right.

"Didn’t I just..."

"Wasn’t I supposed to give him a hard ti? How co I ended up saying everything is at his disposal?!"

"The bla falls on... the terms offered by Academician Zhao, they’re just too good! I had no choice but to cooperate!"

...

Zhao Yi, Red Wind Industry, and the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration had all agreed, and the collaboration was soon established.

Red Wind Industry sent soone to sign the agreents, the first of which was the collaborative R&D agreent, requiring the signatures of Zhao Yi personally, Zhu Lin on behalf of the lab, and Red Wind Industry.

The second agreent didn’t concern Zhu Lin; it was the share purchase agreent between Zhao Yi and Red Wind Industry.

Zhang Zhen handled the matter with lawyers and the other party, overseeing the transfer of funds and shares. Share acquisition was done by capital investnt and the issuance of additional shares, aning Star Billion Investnt would inject one hundred million yuan into Red Wind Industry. The company would then issue additional shares at 95% of the market price to Star Billion Investnt.

These were new shares, aning Star Billion Investnt’s capital injection allowed Red Wind Industry to have more liquid funds. The market would see an increase in shares, and the company’s market value would correspondingly increase.

Once the two agreents were signed, the additional shares would be transferred to the account after being announced by the securities regulators, and the technical materials of the main spindle for the collaborative R&D would subsequently be delivered to the Laboratory of chanical Systems and Vibration.

It didn’t take long.

Zhou Haoren learned about the formal signing of the agreents, and while discussing it with two departnt heads of the company, he shook his head in a reflective manner, "Now I can see that Academician Zhao truly supports the developnt of high-end manufacturing. I really wish more people would do the sa, our group could then have more funds to invest in technical R&D."
