After a brief conversation with Fei Zhengbin and ntioning the requirents of the Warhawk team, as well as urging him to expedite the cooperation of other research institutes, Zhao Yi began to outline the tasks that the team needed to undertake.
First of all, it was the preparatory work for the manufacturing of the engine prototype.
The manufacturing of an engine prototype is very complex, with many components not being completed within a single factory. The manufacturing of turbine blades, booster blades, stator blades, and front fan blades was all extrely troubleso work. Therefore, manufacturing had to be prepared in advance, and communication with the factory had to start early to begin mould production. Even if direct manufacturing was not imdiately underway, effort had to be put into preparation because after all, ti was money and could not be wasted.
"Captain Yuan, you need to closely oversee the manufacturing of the various blades. Take the existing paraters with you, and if they don’t cooperate, go to Director Liu in the Science and Technology Division—I will speak to Director Liu in advance."
"Report back imdiately if there are any technical issues!"
"Understood."
Zhao Yi also tasked Wang Zhixin, Sun Lei, and Li Rongmao to each oversee the preliminary work of the prototype manufacturing. They were all assigned to go down to the factory, to supervise the manufacturing of the moulds and the preparations for the prototype manufacturing, and so on.
As a result, only a few mbers remained in the Warhawk group.
Zhao Yi was not concerned.
He even felt that he alone was enough; the engine prototype manufacturing was a major affair, and all other matters could be put aside.
Once he had delegated the work, Zhao Yi brought the conversation back to aircraft design, ntioning the equipnt issues of the Warhawk-1, "We want the most stable, most advanced equipnt."
"That’s the requirent for every part."
"Stability is most important, advancent cos second. Because aircraft manufacturing is a long-term process, perhaps within a few years the equipnt will need to be upgraded again. For us, the most important thing is to get the aircraft flying. Advanced equipnt is a concern when the aircraft enters formal mass production and service."
That was sothing beyond Zhao Yi’s consideration for the ti being.
What mattered most at the present was to design the aircraft and push the engine directly into the prototype manufacturing stage, but no matter what, the aircraft design also had to pass review.
This was not easy.
Therefore, the stability of aircraft performance was of utmost importance. The primary considerations for aircraft design finalization were performance and stability issues.
In terms of the design of the exterior, Zhao Yi was very confident in the performance and stability, but whether the equipnt would be stable was unknown. The optimal solution for selecting equipnt was stability, and the design would also be tailored according to the most stable equipnt for exterior design adjustnts.
Such a design would definitely pass the evaluation.
In fact, there was still an issue with the current exterior design—the weight was slightly on the higher side. Even a perfect design had its imperfections. The system capability did not consider the weight issue, and so designs were truly cutting-edge and high-end, but they also required more shell material, leading to an overall increase in weight. Luckily, the increase was not too significant and remained within the engine performance coverage and tolerance range.
"Reducing the weight further might be more trouble than it’s worth because every area of the design is already perfect."
"Foldable wings, adjustable upper air inlets, adjustable modified tail fins, reserved landing gear, weapon bays..."
Zhao Yi scrutinized the exterior several tis over but still felt that there was no room for adjustnt. A streamlined version was not sothing that could be made just by wishing it into existence. He sowhat understood why the dia always talked about the weight problem of M Country’s F-35; a fighter jet that wanted every feature beca feature-complete, but trying to keep the weight down was incredibly difficult.
...
The eting ended.
The entire Warhawk team beca busy, with only Lei Yong and Bao Enhong remaining idle. They weren’t assigned any tasks; it seed like the work of the Warhawk team had nothing to do with them. To be accurate, they belonged to the ’Warhawk Special Research Group,’ and the work of the Warhawk Special Research Group at the mont was just to communicate with other research institutes, without any design tasks.
However...
"The design is done, so what do we do now?" Lei Yong and Bao Enhong sat in the office together and suddenly began to feel a sense of panic. They had been quite idle the previous days, but when everyone else enjoyed the leisure, it was fine to do so as well.
Now that everyone was busy except for them, it felt sowhat wrong.
Bao Enhong was slightly better off.
Though she was always thinking about exterior design, her personality was such that she was content with whatever ca her way. She wasn’t the type to delve deeply into matters, and a bit of leisure actually relaxed her.
Lei Yong couldn’t relax at all. He kept thinking about what happened in the eting and suddenly said loudly, "Bao Enhong, did you notice?"
"What?"
"In today’s eting, Academician Zhao didn’t seem to talk about the exterior design issues. I thought the eting was about discussing the exterior design."
"Yeah..."
Bao Enhong thought about it and finally realized what was off.
Normally, even if one finished the exterior design, there would still be a discussion with others about what might be lacking in the design, where there could be issues, and to justify every detail.
But after Academician Zhao finished the exterior design, he only asked others ’Does it look good?’ without addressing even a single technical issue.
This was a bit strange.
"Have you ever thought about it?"
Lei Yong pondered and said, "Maybe Academician Zhao has a deeper purpose. You see, after we ca here, we just worked on a toy plane and made a detailed validation report."
