Zhao Yi and Edward Witten, who were sitting in the audience, made Wang Gang feel imnsely under pressure.
The thought of having these two top mathematicians, almost like ordinary students, attending his class had him contemplating their opinions-
"How will they judge my course?"
"If they find my teaching unsatisfactory, would it affect ? Will there be other repercussions?"
"Conversely, if they both think I am doing well, it could be a good opportunity. If they approve of my course, surely the university and others will recognize ..."
Even with these complicated thoughts, Wang Gang had to carry on with his lecture. Without much ti to deliberate, he forcefully shook his head, deciding to ignore their presence, "I will teach as usual, there’s nothing wrong with my course!"
"Believe in yourself!"
"Pretend it’s just the leadership attending the class!"
With this mindset, his performance normalized considerably. He simply followed his usual teaching approach, lecturing about the theories from the textbook while guiding the students’ participation.
The classroom atmosphere was highly animated.
With two top mathematicians in the class, even the students have beco much more involved. In fact, there was not a single student in the whole class who was leaning on their desk.
That was quite an achievent!
Even in the classrooms of the top universities, it is common to see students not paying attention. Simply put, most of the average classes have students who either lean on their desks doomscrolling or idling, or simply doze off.
The lecture went smoothly, and Wang Gang could boast about him outperforming himself.
He wasn’t interrupted halfway through his lecture, because he genuinely acted like Zhao Yi and Edward Witten didn’t exist and enthusiastically carried on with his course.
After class.
Wang Gang couldn’t ignore the two any longer. After he announced the end of the class, he went straight to the back row, seeing Zhao Yi in a frown... was he sleeping?
Pointing at Zhao Yi, he anxiously asked Edward Witten in broken English, "He... fell asleep."
"Seems like it."
Edward Witten wasn’t quite sure, so he gently patted Zhao Yi’s back.
Zhao Yi rubbed his eyes and sat up, looking left and right as he asked, "Is the class over?"
"Mm."
"Indeed, it seems like you had a good sleep." Edward Witten humorously comnted. Following up, "Perhaps he was too exhausted from doing research a while ago."
At Zhao Yi’s slightly awkward mont, he heard this and imdiately responded, "Yes! I was too tired." He then imdiately gave Wang Gang a thumbs up, "Your class was really good."
Wang Gang managed to force out a smile through his disappointnt.
This guy has slept through the entire class and dares to say that the class was good?
Could you be any more insincere?!
Edward Witten also raised his thumb, "You’re an excellent teacher."
This ti Wang Gang felt slightly better.
Zhao Yi however, asked confusedly, "Did you understand?" Pointing out that Edward Witten couldn’t speak Chinese.
Wang Gang felt a pang in his heart.
Edward Witten explained, "Although I didn’t understand a word, I could see that the atmosphere in the classroom was lively, the students were enthusiastic and engaged. It shows that they were interested in the course."
"Indeed."
Zhao Yi agreed with Edward Witten’s statent, letting Wang Gang finally flash a genuine smile.
...
Zhao Yi spent the whole day in Wang Gang’s class, earning his ’Rest Coin’, and his mood was still quite contented.
After lunch, he visited the School of Sciences.
Recently, the School of Sciences was always buzzing with activity. Both the managent and teaching staff were discussing an issue pertaining to the setting up of the Particle Mathematics Research Center.
The Science Departnt had finalized a proposal and decided to grant the establishnt of the Particle Mathematics Center at Yanhua University. However, the center was nad ’Zhao Yi Mathematics Center’ instead of ’Particle Mathematics Research Center’.
As the representative of the Science Departnt said, "This research center is mainly built around Zhao Yi."
"Its main contents not only include Zhao Yi’s boundary theory of particles but also other mathematical contributions and achievents, based on which further research is conducted."
This was a perfectly reasonable statent.
Zhao Yi’s mathematical contributions and achievents are indeed well worth studying, including the solutions to the Goldbach Conjecture and Fermat’s Last Theorem. But the research on the boundary theory and the three-dinsional tremor waveform deserved in-depth investigation.
The Science Departnt was not concerned with what research was being conducted, they rely provided a reason for investnt.
If Zhao Yi didn’t oversee the work of the research center, there must be a related reason linked to Zhao Yi because the investnt was targeted towards Zhao Yi and not Yanhua University College of Science. The latter had nothing worth investing in.
Yanhua University College of Science had no say in this matter. They were content to have secured the funding for the research center setup and didn’t mind the actual na.
’Zhao Yi Mathematics Center’?
"It does seem quite fitting..."
"In the future, Zhao Yi may work there and perhaps all his future accomplishnts in mathematics will be achieved in this place."
Zhao Yi agreed. There really was no reason to object to a mathematics center nad after him.
But then again, he started feeling a bit gloomy.
The research center was nad after him, even though he wasn’t responsible for the work. It sounded like a morial, making him feel like the one being commorated?
