As a group of people erged from the conference room, Dai Tianqing’s face was as dark as a lump of coal. He moved along in the middle of the pack, occasionally glancing ahead and muttering a few words under his breath.

"Old hag", "nopausal", "pretentious"...

Anyhow, they were not kind words.

Li Ming was trailing behind Dai Tianqing, patting his back as if trying to offer so sympathy.

Of course.

Everyone from the ’research group’ felt the sa, it was just that Dai Tianqing was the only one who had lost face on the spot.

Dai Tianqing’s eyes were full of resentnt as he whispered, "I should have let you talk."

"Fortunately, I did not."

Li Ming said, "I said before that we should compare results with them, but you insisted on presenting the research as it is."

"I shouldn’t?"

Dai Tianqing started, then sighed and looked up to find Han Hui and Zhang Wei walking together, seemingly enjoying their conversation.

At the end of the day, he was the only one who was embarrassed.

"Sigh!"

He sighed.

Shen Xi also looked sowhat flustered, she thought Dai Tianqing was preparing a report to hide sothing. She regretted her flippant comnt earlier which now replayed in her mind. Facing Dai Tianqing had since beco rather uncomfortable.

As a mber of the expert review committee, an apology from her was impossible. After all, she was just stating facts, even if they were embarrassing.

Everyone else didn’t dwell on it excessively.

Yan Xuelin was embarrassed for the ’researcher group’. He had hoped for quick progress from the group, but they simply couldn’t compare to Zhao Yi’s lab. In his mind, the matter had concluded.

On the other hand, the rest of the expert review team found the whole thing rather entertaining. Zhu Hong even gave Dai Tianqing a thumbs-up, not to mock him, but to appreciate his awkwardness that managed to bring a smile to Shen Xi’s face. Zhu Hong had never seen her laugh before.

The expert group’s review was not limited to just listening to a report.

After leaving the conference room, they did not imdiately enter the lab to review the experintal data and various procedures, and so on.

This is where Zhang Zhilong ca into play.

Zhang Zhilong, the director of the National dical Science Academy, has been engaged in dical research for twenty years and is very familiar with such processes. Upon taking a look at the laboratory and research reports, he could readily make an overall assessnt and identify any problems.

The expert review group first visited Zhao Yi’s lab and then moved to the central lab.

Zhang Zhilong reviewed the ’researcher group’s’ experints and even praised them specifically, "Your research is very ticulous!"

This was contrasted with Zhao Yi’s lab.

On hearing the word ’ticulous’, Dai Tianqing finally managed to regain so of his composure and even forced a smile, "Thank you, our primary principle of research is to design ticulous experints to minimize the possibility of errors."

Everyone else nodded in agreent.

The people at Zhao Yi’s lab didn’t argue, even Zhao Yi agreed. The current progress of the research undeniably depended on Zhao Yi’s quick conclusions and his lab’s capabilities, which did show a gap compared with the ’researcher group’.

Dai Tianqing, Li Ming and others were experienced researchers. Their experint designs were more painstaking and ticulous and they had a better professional grip on aspects such as inspections, data analysis, and deductions of results.

The review was over.

The four mbers of the expert review committee, along with Zhao Yi, Yan Xuelin, and Dai Tianqing, held a short discussion in a conference room and quickly ca to several conclusions.

One was regarding research support.

A funding of 3 million RMB was allocated to the research on 2CV-Bing Hydrogen Molecule AIDS inhibitors, raising it to the highest level, with all future requests getting green-lighted.

The second pertained to confidentiality.

All involved employees had to sign a higher-level confidentiality agreent.

Anyone signing the confidentiality agreent would receive compensation. The standard amount was Twenty thousand RMB. Given the importance of the research, this was rely a token gesture.

The rest was unrelated to the institute for the ti being.

For instance, the expert group would submit a review report and recomnd collaborating with national pharmaceutical research departnts, paving the way for drug developnt.

This would be advantageous for the research personnel and the project itself.

While the research didn’t involve pharmaceutical technology and couldn’t yield patent royalties, large sums of prize money would certainly be awarded later. Both the research institute and the lab would benefit, securing huge amounts of research funding.

Yan Xuelin even promised, "Once the project is completed, we shall upgrade our equipnt, perhaps even apply to build an Experintal dical Center on the adjacent vacant land."

This had been a long-held aspiration of the institute.

The Biodical Research Institute was an independent research entity. Its biggest issue was the lack of continuity. Postgraduates and doctoral students conducting research under their ntors struggled to adjust to routine work after graduation.

Moreover, the Biodical Research Institute was too ’independent’. A lot of its data and resources were supplied by partner hospitals. In order to attract more talent and achieve higher quality results, a ’dical center’ would be beneficial to enable data-sharing and establish synergy between hospital and research data, and more.

In a nutshell, it lacked an accompanying dical and academic facility.

...

When the expert review team had left, the research continued.

Yan Xuelin didn’t organize any etings, rather he had a quiet word with Zhao Yi implying a suggestion to rge both research groups, virtually scrapping the division.
