Three hours of arduous journey.

Finally, ho.

Zhao Yi got out of the car downstairs and, after sending the driver away, turned around and cheerfully greeted his neighbor Aunt Li.

Aunt Li was putting away the quilts that had been airing outside.

Seeing Zhao Yi get out of the car, she curiously asked, "Who was that?"

"A friend!"

Zhao Yi brushed it off and went upstairs.

He got ho and knocked on the door.

Liu Jing opened it and imdiately asked with concern, "How did it go? Are you done with the event? You must be tired. Co, sit on the couch, and I’ll get you a glass of water."

"Mom, I can get it myself," Zhao Yi said, but didn’t move.

This is a mother and her son.

Even a decade later, when his mom was unsteady on her feet, he’d still sit there peacefully and wait for her to bring him water.

It wasn’t that he was disrespectful; on the contrary, it was a way of being filial.

Most people of the older generation were like this, with no so-called ’advanced’ thinking, and felt that taking care of their children was a matter of course.

If they could do sothing for their child, they’d feel good, as if they were still helpful. But when they couldn’t help, they’d feel old and upset.

A good mood is more important than anything else.

Liu Jing brought over the hot water, reminding him that it was hot, and then asked, "By the way, you said you’d get paid for attending the event, how much did you get?"

Zhao Yi hesitated before shaking his head and saying, "You’ll find out tomorrow."

"Why?"

Liu Jing wanted to ask more but stopped, giving a bitter smile and complaining, "This kid!"

At this ti, Zhao Zhenxi ca in through the door.

"You’re back so early?" Liu Jing and Zhao Yi looked over simultaneously.

Usually, Zhao Zhenxi would co ho around seven o’clock, but it wasn’t even six yet, so he was off work fairly early.

Upon entering, Zhao Zhenxi didn’t speak, but went straight to the couch, plopped down next to Zhao Yi, and stared at him.

"What’s the matter?"

Zhao Zhenxi continued staring and couldn’t bring himself to ask what was on his mind.

Today’s events were strange!

Zhao Zhenxi knew his boss had gone to Jiangzhou and that his son had as well, but he didn’t know they’d gone to the sa place.

The boss ca back in the afternoon and sought him out at the factory. He gushed about Zhao Yi’s enthusiasm with a flushed face.

"Zhao Yi is amazing!"

"He’s a genius!"

"We were together all day today, and then he went back to the hotel. He’s really good."

The boss kept saying ’amazing,’ but never quite explained how.

Zhao Zhenxi carefully noted a few keywords: ’bonus’, ’amazing’, ’together all day’, ’shopping mall’, ’hotel’.

So...

The story went that the two went shopping together, then checked into a hotel room where they spent the entire day... and the son was amazing?

Zhao Zhenxi’s mind raced.

Frankly, he didn’t oppose his son hooking up with boss Zhou Qing. Zhou Qing wasn’t old and was still single, plus she was quite beautiful. However, his son was only eighteen!

At such a young age, would he have a future with Zhou Qing?

"What the hell are you looking at!" Liu Jing snapped, interrupting Zhao Zhenxi’s thoughts.

Zhao Zhenxi took a deep breath and asked tentatively, "What do you think of Zhou Qing, our factory director?"

"Zhou Qing?"

Zhao Yi thought of Zhou Qing enthusiastically taking him shopping, even buying him popcorn and drinks, and gave his opinion, "She’s a good person."

...

Zhao Yi underestimated the speed of information dissemination from more than a decade ago. Tranquility in the household only lasted until the end of dinner when a constant stream of people began to visit.

There were relatives, neighbors, classmates’ parents - both familiar and unfamiliar faces.

They all buzzed about the news they’d heard--

"Your son, Zhao Yi, got a one million bonus!"

"Really, one million!"

"It happened in Jiangzhou! Your son, Little Yi, is really sothing. I heard it was a computer sale event, and they directly gave him a million."

"I heard from my daughter-in-law’s nephew over the phone that it happened right in Jiangzhou’s shopping mall, and a lot of people were clapping!"

"Why listen to others? Didn’t you watch the Nanjiang news just now? It’s already on TV, and they even showed Little Yi a few tis!"

"They said on the news that Little Yi is a computer genius! It’s going to be so convenient now. We also bought a computer. If there are any problems, we can ask Little Yi to have a look."

"..."

Zhao Yi was very irritated listening to all this.

Many people liked to equate studying computer science with fixing computers. In his previous life, when he beca a programr, people would still ask him to fix their broken computers.

Programr?

Computer repair?

In reality, they’re not that related!

Of course.

The important thing was that the peace at ho was gone.

Zhao Yi grinned and made polite conversation for a bit before retreating to his bedroom under the guise of "doing howork." He left the guests for his parents to entertain.

At ten-thirty that night, after sending off the last batch of visitors, Liu Jing closed the door and finally had the opportunity to talk to Zhao Yi.

"One million?"

"Really, one million!"

Liu Jing and Zhao Zhenxi cornered Zhao Yi by his bed, standing on both sides as if to prevent him from escaping.

Zhao Yi reluctantly nodded.

"Really?"

"Am I dreaming?" Liu Jing suddenly cried out with joy, "My son, Little Yi, has made more than a million even though he’s only in his senior year! No, there was last ti too, so over a million!"

Liu Jing turned to Zhao Zhenxi with a pinch to his arm.

"Ouch!" Zhao Zhenxi hissed in pain.

"It hurts, so it’s not a dream!"

Liu Jing hugged Zhao Yi tightly, babbling, "One million, don’t waste it! This is the money you earned, but I still have to help you save so of it. Who knows if you’ll ever..."

Zhao Yi nodded dumbly and suddenly felt sympathy for his father.

He raised a hand and made a "one" gesture.

"What?"

Zhao Zhenxi suddenly understood, his arm seemingly ceasing to hurt as his face broke into a wide smile.

The next morning.

When Zhao Zhenxi opened his briefcase, he found that there were only 200 yuan more. Just as he wondered about the extra amount, he saw a note inside.

When he opened it--

Little Yi secretly gave you 1,000 yuan, don’t think I don’t know, I took 800 and left 200 for you.

Spend it wisely.

You’re taking the money your son earned? How shaful for soone your age!

...

Zhao Yi arrived at school.

It was a busy morning at the 13th Middle School as usual, but it didn’t stop the rushing students from saluting Zhao Yi.

So familiar faces ca up chattering.

"Zhao Yi, you’re aweso!"

"One million! And you even blacked out the Mac on the spot!"

"I thought I saw wrong when I watched TV, but it was really you!"

"I didn’t even need to watch; as soon as I heard, I knew it was you. Zhao Yi took a leave of absence to go to Jiangzhou, and a computer genius nad Zhao Yi suddenly appeared on TV - what a coincidence!"

Zhao Yi just acted calmly, responding with a smile, and soon walked into the third-class classroom.

Everyone in the classroom looked at him.

"Zhao Yi!"

"The computer genius Zhao Yi is here!"

"Star Zhao Yi!"

"Zhao the genius!"

The enthusiasm of his classmates made Zhao Yi a little helpless, fortunately most people just teased him enviously. Only those around him said a bit more.

Sun Liang was the loudest, "Zhao Yi, no more talking! Treat us!"

"One million is enough for to spend tens of thousands of hours, more than 10,000 days, and 30 years in an internet café..."

"I want to play until the end of ti!"

Zhao Yi looked at him as if he was stupid, "Why don’t I just buy you a computer instead?"

Sun Liang imdiately perked up, "Are you buying a computer?"

"No!"

"Hmph~"

Xiaoqing Lin couldn’t help but laugh, but her gaze was strange, as if she didn’t recognize him.

She didn’t say anything all the ti.

The reaction of the students was normal, and the teachers couldn’t pretend they didn’t see it.

That day, the teachers all arrived very early.

There was an impromptu "amazent" eting at the senior three grade office.

Xue Pinggui sighed sourly, "I said a few days ago that Zhao Yi went to Jiangzhou for money, but I never thought it’d be one million straight away!"

Niu Lianhua shook her head and interrupted, "Not just one million! I saw the report, and it said Zhao Yi got a cash prize of one million, and then he cracked the Mac computer on the spot, getting another 200,000 in prize money. Together it’s 1.2 million."

"And 50,000 US dollars! The foreign engineer who visited the school last ti said in an interview that an additional 50,000 US dollars would be paid."

Shen Yan added the final information.

After her statent, the office beca quiet.

The teachers were all regretful.

Xue Pinggui sighed the most. He always thought that Zhao Yi’s performance was diocre, and the best he could do was get into a university, maybe not even as well as himself after graduation.

But then what?

Zhao Yi gets more than one million, an amount that Xue would almost never hope to save even if he worked for decades.

Is there a difference between going to college or not?

Most students have the concept that a million is "a lot of money," while the teachers have a clearer definition: it’s a huge sum that can bring financial freedom.

Now a student has realized it directly, it’s so depressing to compare oneself with others. Teachers don’t quite know how to face Zhao Yi.

Scolding him?

Fawning on him?

Act like nothing happened?

Anyway, the teachers, especially those from the third class and the elite class, had very complicated feelings.

Most teachers chose the last option.

Acting as if nothing happened.

Ignoring whatever Zhao Yi does, the advantage is that they don’t have to worry about it anymore.

Playing the part of a star student for a day, Zhao Yi was quite frustrated, even going to the bathroom, many people ca up to strike up a conversation.

How annoying!

In the afternoon, the elite students of Class A went upstairs for class. As Zhao Yi walked to his desk, he noticed sothing was wrong.

His desk drawer was almost full.

It was not books.

It was envelopes!

"Love letters?" Zhao Yi pulled out a few and then pulled out a few more. Later, he simply took out a handful.

Under the gaze of those around him, Zhao Yi took a deep breath, but didn’t look closely. Instead, he threw the envelopes into the trash can.

Afterwards.

He sat back in his seat and sighed deeply.

Xiaoqing Lin turned her head and asked, "What’s wrong, genius Big Zhao? Why are you sighing? Aren’t you happy or satisfied with all these love letters and getting so popular?"

Zhao Yi looked up expressionlessly and said seriously, "Xiaoqing Lin!"

He looked left and right, "Zhao Linlin, Hu Tianyan."

"And you guys, and so on."

"Do you think that getting a million-dollar prize, becoming a genius in the mouths of others, and receiving so many love letters would make soone happy and content?"

Everyone nodded unanimously.

"No, you are all wrong, very wrong!"

Zhao Yi proudly looked up, the corners of his mouth curling up high, "The happiness and contentnt that co with it are beyond your imagination!"
