"What is this?" Zhao Yi asked, pointing at a thick line.
Edmir explained, "That’s a bunch of particles stuck together. It’s very valuable for research. If I enlarge it..." He zood in on the screen, revealing the thick line to be a mass of superfine lines bundled together. With a hint of pride, he continued, "I was the first one to discover this line. I knew it was of great research value right away. Many teams wanted to get hold of the data early, but disclosing other data before the official conference ended was a violation. So, I denied every request. If they wanted to see it, they had to co here."
"I haven’t received such attention in years. A guy from the UK even sent crates of wine. I accepted the wine, but still didn’t give him the data. Hahaha..."
Edmir couldn’t help but burst out laughing as he spoke.
Zhao Yi found it hilarious as well.
Accept gifts but not get the job done? This guy must have a twisted sense of humor. No wonder no one cos to his lab. He must be quite a character.
Of course.
But that did not concern Zhao Yi. At the very least, he liked Edmir, who generously explained everything to him and let him look at the data, gaining much information in the process.
The lesson learned just now was that Higgs particles are indeed very rare. He used close to ten Study Coins following Edmir’s picture changes and constantly using "Correlation Law", but there was no feedback at all. In other words, there was nothing related to Higgs particles in over a dozen pictures consecutively.
So, as Edmir said, there was too little Higgs particles and it was highly unlikely to detect them.
"But I’ve already discovered it?"
"I can pinpoint the location where traces of Higgs particles decay exist, and calculate so of their properties based on the data at that location."
"And then by using the properties of Higgs particles, we can find other decay products of Higgs particles from a large amount of data..."
"But how do you prove it?"
Although he had not officially tried yet, Zhao Yi did not believe that "Connection Law" could easily solve the problem.
The key lies in the conditions!
However, he now had a strategy on how to proceed: calculate the properties of Higgs particles in detail, collect enough data, and add enough conditions. Then he would be able to find a way to prove the existence of Higgs particles.
...
Although the thod is clear, actually doing it would be very challenging. The first task is to find things related to Higgs particles, preferably a couple of photons, and study their montum to analyze the mass range of the Higgs particles.
This is based on the law of conservation of energy, using the montum of scattered photons post-decomposition to calculate the properties of the particle before decay.
The decay rate of Higgs particles is very fast, and the decay process is full of uncertainties. The decay products give off photons as they pass through the detector, thus research must be done on the emitted photons in order to study the pre-decay particles.
All he can do now is look for photons related to the post-decay process. The other decay products found may provide so reference value, but since it’s uncertain what other substances they might be, calculating would be exceedingly difficult.
So, he will have to look for photons.
For the rest of the day, Zhao Yu spent his spare ti in Edmir’s workspace. He occasionally chatted with Edmir, but mostly he stared at the computer, looking at the picture data.
Edmir seed to enjoy having company. He told Zhao Yi how to change the pictures and asked, puzzled, "Are you trying to do so data analysis? These pictures have been analyzed many tis. If you need related data, I can help you find it."
"Thanks in advance."
Edmir’s help was more than welco.
Zhao Yi replied, "I believe these pictures contain a lot of information. I want to examine them carefully. If I find anything of interest, could you help find the relevant report data?"
"Of course. No problem at all. All this is public information."
Edmir nodded, saying, "I think your thod is great. If I had the opportunity to co here when I was studying, I wouldn’t miss these reports. As long as I could understand one, know what’s happening here, what’s written on it, my understanding of quantum physics would surely greatly improve."
Zhao Yi was speechless for a while, so Edmir thought he was studying? This explanation made sense.
If a quantum physics student ca here to see these visual data and advanced reports, they would indeed gain a deeper understanding of quantum physics.
This would surely accelerate the learning process.
But he wasn’t studying at the mont. He was looking for content related to Higgs particles in the picture data. As he constantly used "Correlation Law", he could make significant stride in Higgs particle research, with potential substantial rewards – the expenditure of a few hundred or even thousands of Study Coins was insignificant in comparison.
Later, Zhao Yi even used Research Coins. In the British way of thinking, he didn’t need to actively use his ability but could already understand the content related to Higgs particles in a picture.
While continuously using his ability, he found many related clues.
