Another two days had passed.
They had been working for five days.
In the beginning, Chen Ming had reported two singularity positions and later reported one more, but he was astounded by the continuous confirmation of Zhao Yi’s positions. After working continuously for more than thirty hours, he fell asleep and neglected to submit more findings.
Ruan Wenye ca in, asking for an update, "Any new discoveries?"
Chen Ming looked up, his eyes red, "Yes, we found a lot of anomalies!"
He pointed to the computer screen, "Here, here, and here. If I rember correctly, the previous analysis only revealed four unusual positions and resulted in three reports, right?"
"We found seven positions!"
"Really?" Ruan Wenye was taken aback and asked, "Why haven’t they been submitted?"
"...I forgot!"
Ruan Wenye shook his head in resignation, looked at the screen where Chen Ming was pointing, and then examined his singularity verification.
"Did you incorporate the potential energy function?"
Ruan Wenye nodded in agreent, "Most of the singularities verified by this thod are problematic."
He looked through several other verification docunts and couldn’t resist taking a deep breath because there were too many singularities discovered.
The previous work had been done by a French team, which only found four aningful singularities after half a month’s work. But Chen Ming found seven? Among them, four were verified using the potential energy function, indicating that they could identify at least four problematic locations.
This was very impressive.
Even if only these four locations were aningful singularities, it would be like scouring a mountain for precious stones. Different people finding the sa thing is unlikely—it exemplified the value of their research verification work.
Ruan Wenye couldn’t help but praise Chen Ming, "Chair Chen, you’ve outdone yourself!"
"It’s all thanks to Zhao Yi." Chen Ming was equally excited, "He gave inspiration for the additional points."
"Really?"
Ruan Wenye was surprised at Zhao Yi. Zhao Yi joined the team because he was a top mathematician, and his skills in calculation and data filtration were undoubtedly beneficial.
Singularities verification was additional work that required a great deal of knowledge in quantum chanics. He didn’t think Zhao Yi would be much help.
Who would have thought...
"Is Chair Chen attributing too much credit?" Ruan Wenye was slightly confused. However, finding more singularity positions was a significant accomplishnt, and it didn’t matter who took credit. What was important was the achievent of the team’s work.
Chen Ming and Zhao Yi could now relax; they didn’t need to do anything further. The singularity positions were handled by the physicists.
This sort of division of labor is typical in academia.
For example, astronors observe specific phenona using telescopes, ending their part of the work there.
The interpretation of the phenonon would be the work of theoretical physicists.
Explanations about the universe and particles are two extres, but similar in essence. Explaining why singularities occur is the task of theoretical physicists.
It doesn’t an that Chen Ming and Zhao Yi’s contributions are overlooked. Regardless of who writes the research report or the academic paper, they all ntion "based on the discoveries of XXX", and they would share the honor of the report or paper.
If the research is of significant value, so may even win prestigious international awards because of it.
Zhao Yi and Chen Ming began to rest, but after only a day, they received disappointing news.
"What? The California Institute of Technology team finished their verification?"
"They are submitting the verification report before us?"
"How is that possible?"
Many were surprised by the news because the verification process usually takes a long ti, typically about ten days. Even with a team of several dozen people, it would still take more than a week to complete the verification.
The California Institute of Technology team only had about ten people—fewer than the number of visitors—yet they finished in less than a week?
"Did they cheat?"
"No way!"
"How could they be so fast? Much faster than us?"

The ten-mber team from the California Institute of Technology completed the work in less than a week, while their team, which was more than double in size, took longer. The difference in research capabilities was glaringly apparent.
Fortunately, they found more singularities. As long as they could explain the singularities, their achievents would undoubtedly be more significant.
Still, the team mbers were in low spirits.
Singularities verification was just additional work, and the ti it took was a reflection of their basic skill level. The fact that the other team was faster by such a large margin was an outright testant to their insufficient capabilities, and that was rather depressing.
The next day, a report eting was held in the auditorium.
Professor Beileifen of the California Institute of Technology anxiously announced the completion of the verification process and proclaid the discovery of two new singularities. With that, they were able to determine the existence of two resonant states between 0.93-1.01 GeV energy zones.
This was the latest discovery.
If the analogy of the blind n touching the elephant were to be used, the discovery of the new resonant states in the energy zones would equate to proving that the elephant’s toes are hard—an incrental contribution to the particle theory model.
Though the contribution is minor, it is still praiseworthy work.
