"’Top Mathematician Also A Biological Genius?’

The content of the article was all about one fact, that Zhao Yi had published too many papers within half a year. What it said was not necessarily wrong.

The last sentence, however, was the point and the most provocative: ’We can’t assu there’s anything wrong here, but I reckon anyone who looks at these figures will have so doubts, wouldn’t they?’

’We can’t?’

’Anyone would have doubts?’

Linking these words with the earlier content of the article, anyone who read the article would certainly start to doubt--

Were these papers all published legitimately?

Divergent thinking was the most fearso thing of all.

For ordinary researchers, the idea of publishing so many papers in just half a year was almost impossible.

An influential professor in a field with around 200 papers published over several decades is already an impressive feat, an average of roughly seven papers a year spread across 30 years.

Being able to publish so many papers in just six months, one would certainly be a true prodigy in his field, having reached a peak in his research, such as having just completed a prominent project, or having a multitude of researchers and students under his supervision implenting an array of projects.

Most readers are average people, not researchers. They don’t understand different research fields, they don’t know these statistics, and they won’t bother to research or analyse them carefully.

Most people, upon seeing these statistics, would be shocked and imdiately think, ’That must be fake, right?’

’Impossible. Eight papers published in six months, with his na on nine of them?’

’That’s like publishing one every week or two!’

’Never mind completing research in a week or two, even if he spent those weeks just writing, he wouldn’t finish!’

’This is too fake, incredibly fake!’

’...’

This was the sort of comnts beneath the article.

Zhao Yi read the comnts on the article and felt sowhat disheartened. Upon further thought, however, his mood lightened greatly. It was not that he didn’t care about being sared, but he simply hadn’t fabricated any papers. Were clarifications needed for sothing so plainly obvious?

After such a huge commotion, there would almost certainly be a series of investigations.

So, he didn’t care.

This was much like certain news from his previous life; soone or sothing would be implicated today, and tomorrow news would erge implicating soone else. As the public followed the developnt, the truth would eventually be revealed.

Besides, with his current fa and status, he wouldn’t be subjected to official targeting.

’So, perhaps this is a good thing?’

’No one cared about my biological studies before, but after this article is published and once everything is cleared up, perhaps the task will then be completed?’

Zhao Yi contemplated carefully and a smile appeared on his face.

Fan Lei couldn’t comprehend, ’You can still laugh about this?’

’It’s fine!’

Zhao Yi reassured him generously, ’Innocence will speak for itself!’

’You really take things in stride!’ Fan Lei opened his mouth but found himself lost for words. Shaking his head, he said, ’But you’re right, innocence will speak for itself. Let them say what they want; it won’t affect you anyway.’

He was, however, mistaken.

After the article was reposted by nurous internet dia and journalists, it created a public stir.

The issue quickly blew up.

Online forums were teeming with discussions and the thread of suspicion continued to unravel.

The first theory was that Zhao Yi wasn’t likely to have fabricated these papers on his own. There must have been two entities involved, the Biodical Research Institute, as many of his papers bore the institute’s na.

The other was the ’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’ journal, which had published many of his papers.

Xiehe Hospital is a partner of the Biodical Research Institute, and its influential ’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’ journal in China is the primary channel for research papers from the institute.

The first reason is the speed at which they review submissions.

Being partners, of course, ant quicker reviewing tis. Papers from The Biodical Research Institute would be prioritised for publication by ’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’.

So online comnts directly slandered the Biodical Research Institute and the ’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’ journal--

’If all the papers were forged, these two entities must be connected.’

’The Biodical Research Institute is at Yanhua University!’

’Could they be conspiring to fabricate a biological research genius? It just so happens that Zhao Yi is highly interested in biology, he didn’t even apply for a mathematics departnt!’

’I utterly refuse to believe that a math genius can be a biology genius!’

’There must be sothing fishy going on!’

’Up until now, neither of these entities has comnted. They are probably preparing their responses!’

’We’ll have to see how they handle the bla!’

Naturally, many people also defended Zhao Yi, saying that it was ’impossible’, not referring to fabricating papers being impossible, but that it was impossible for both entities to assist Zhao Yi in fabricating papers.

Paper fabrications typically involve issues with the content, whether it’s plagiarism, ghostwriting, or anything else - it simply involves the content of the paper.

It might not be impossible for everyone at the Biodical Research Institute to help Zhao Yi write his papers, but claiming that the ’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’ journal is assisting Zhao Yi in publishing is an absolute impossibility.

’Xiehe Hospital - dical Research’ journal is ranked amongst the top twenty dical journals in China, with many of its articles being selected for Sci.
