"Whoosh~~~"

The mont Andrei Bell announced the winner of the Nevanlinna Prize, an astonishing cheer erupted within the venue.

This was followed closely by thunderous applause.

Deafening!

Many people were discussing in surprise--

"Zhao Yi actually won."

"Observing his achievents, it’s normal for him to win the Nevanlinna, but I dare say this is the biggest news this year."

"He’s not even 19 yet!"

The last ssage was key to the atmosphere being ignited in the venue. Zhao Yi was simply too young, so young that it was hard for others to believe.

Zhao Yi’s birthday is on November 11th, a celebration for singles in China. The only advantage for a man born on this day is, he doesn’t have to worry about nobody celebrating his birthday.

Many people purchase a lot of things on this day, making it a day of buying, buying, and buying again, as a way to celebrate for themselves.

Of course.

The most important is his age.

Specifically, he is 18 years and 9 months old, not even 19 yet. Winning a prize at the International Congress of Mathematicians, he broke the record for the youngest winner of the Nevanlinna Prize, as well as the age record for winners at the congress.

Whether or not these records will be broken in the future is unclear, but certainly, it is unprecedented. This made many in the venue feel embarrassed, as the age limit for winners of the Nevanlinna and Fields prizes at the congress is 40. Many mathematicians nearing 40 hope to win a prize at this congress, as they would not have another chance after this one.

Now, their role is simply to witness as the congress earns its youngest winner ever.

Shocking as it may be, it is normal.

Andrei Bell continues to read from the script in his hand, "His understanding and application of computational thods are of the highest caliber, and he developed the Effective and Irrelevant Carry Filtering, a cutting-edge algorithm certain to be applied in multiple fields as a core technology."

"The Carrying-Unrelated Filtering thod started from practicality. It solved the Rubik’s Cube algorithm problem that puzzled the mathematical world for decades. Interestingly, it also included proving the Collatz Conjecture."

"Due to the significant Carrying-Unrelated Filtering thod, he is enough to beco one of the world’s top algorithm masters, making an indelible and outstanding contribution to the developnt of mathematics and computer science."

"I believe this not only involves the unique inspiration of genius but also contains countless sweat and hardship."

"..."

When Zhao Yi’s na was called, he was pushed by people around him to stand in the aisle, quietly listening to Andrei Bell’s introduction.

This Briton, with his large nose, is a good speaker.

"This not only involves the unique inspiration of genius but also contains countless sweat and hardship..."

Such great words!

This is a perfect description of himself!

Zhao Yi listened in silence with a faint smile, waiting quietly.

Finally, Andrei-Bell said the last sentence, "Let’s congratulate the winner of the Nevanlinna Prize, the youngest winner of the Congress of Mathematicians——"

"Zhao Yi!"

Zhao Yi walked onto the stage with light steps, shook hands and hugged Andrei-Bell. Bell whispered in his ear, "I told you just now that you won!"

"Of course," replied Zhao Yi. "When you said it, I believed it. The word ’honest’ is written all over your face."

"Ah?"

Bill was clearly not understanding, he had adjusted to the atmosphere on and off the stage, his movents were not so rigid, but the smile on his face felt a bit strange. After hugging Zhao Yi, he stepped down from the stage and visibly sighed a sigh of relief.

For Andrei Bell, stepping onto the stage of the Congress of Mathematicians in front of so many people and announcing the winners as an invited guest was also a tough challenge.

Luckily, he made it.

After Zhao Yi received his award, he was seated in the winner’s area next to a trembling Ito Kiyoshi.

Ito Kiyoshi is an old Japanese professor who is over 90 years old.

At such an advanced age, going to the Congress of Mathematicians and receiving the first Gauss Prize probably made him the least disputed winner.

Who would compete with a ninety-year-old man for a trophy?

Giving the Gauss Prize to Ito Kiyoshi was also an affirmation of his lifelong research in the field of mathematics.

Zhao Yi had nothing to interact with Ito Kiyoshi about. He nodded respectfully at the old man before sitting down to continue watching the awards ceremony.

The next announcent was for the most prestigious award of the Congress--

The Fields dal!

The Fields dal is one of the highest international awards in the field of mathematics. Because the Nobel Prize does not include a category for mathematics, the Fields dal is known as the "Nobel Prize in Mathematics".

The chairman of the International Mathematics Union personally took the stage to announce the winners of the Fields dal.

The number of winners for the Fields dal varies. In so years, it is only awarded to two or three people, and in others, it can be awarded to four or five people.

This year, there are four winners: Andrei Okounkov of Princeton University, Russian mathematician Grigori Perelman, Terence Tao of the University of California, Los Angeles and Wendelin Werner from the University of Paris XI.

After announcing the four winners all at once, and then introducing them and reading their award reasons, if you are not careful, twenty minutes will have passed.
