Wiles is a mathematician that amazes the world.
In his youth, he was a mathematical prodigy, a graduate of rton College, Oxford, and later earned a doctorate degree from Clare College, University of Cambridge.
Afterwards, he served as a junior fellow at Clare College and an assistant professor at Harvard University, and two years later he beca a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
A year later, Wiles was promoted to a professor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
Although the information stated above may seem ordinary, many other high-ranking university graduates and researchers have similar accomplishnts. However, by the ti Wiles was promoted to beco a professor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, he was only 28 years old. Most other people of the sa age have just earned their doctoral degrees, while he has already beco a professor at the temple of mathematics, The Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
Following that, Wiles began over a decade of research, all centering around the Gushan Shimura Conjecture and Fermat’s Last Theorem. His research culminated in 1993 with a series of academic presentations given at the Newton Institute in the UK.
By the end of his final presentation, he had completed a proof of Fermat’s Last Theorem. The news quickly made the front pages of newspapers worldwide and caused quite a stir in the mathematical community. The "New York Tis" ran the headline "Finally cries ’Eureka!’, Long-Standing Mathematical Mystery is Solved", reporting the news that Fermat’s Last Theorem had been proven.
Just like that, overnight, Wiles beca the world’s most well-known, if not the only, mathematician.
Following this, Wiles started a decade-long award-winning journey.
The most significant of these awards was the "Nobel" of the mathematics world, the Fields dal. At that ti, Wiles was over 40, but the Fields dal is usually only awarded to young mathematicians under 40. Eventually, the decision was made to award the Andrew Wiles Special Fields Award.
For any mathematician, solving Fermat’s Last Theorem is an achievent of a lifeti. Success for Wiles seed tied to receiving awards.
In June this year, he won the Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences, supported by the Hong Kong Gene Society, the prize amounting to one million dollars.
The impact of this award is not that great, but the monetary amount is quite attractive. As of now, Wiles is still riding high. For him, who has won the Fields dal and is recognized as the world’s top mathematician, attending the International Mathematicians Congress is just for socializing and showing off – similar to being invited to give talks at famous schools globally.
Wiles enjoys this kind of life. Just now, a large group of mathematicians from various countries surrounded him. He showed the elegance of a top-ranking mathematician by pointing out the mistakes to a vendor at a small stall.
He spent more than twenty minutes solving a problem for a street stall owner, found the issue within five pages of complex mathematical calculations, and received the stall owner’s gratitude.
"So, in the world of mathematics..."
"I am the No. 1 mathematician, and no one can compare with ."
Wiles confidently walked over and saw Zhao Yi instructing the African Arican guy. He imdiately saw the ’problem’.
How could it be that fast?
He is the world’s top mathematician who solved Fermat’s Last Theorem. His understanding and computation abilities in mathematics are the best, although there might be people faster than him, they couldn’t possibly be exceedingly so.
One minute?
What a joke!
"Is this a play act? This is interesting. I think he deserves an Oscar..."
Wiles made his opinion known aloud, noticing that other people had created a space for him, and he stepped forward casually, admonishing Zhao Yi with a patronizing tone, "Zhao Yi, I know you, Collatz Conjecture, three-dinsional tremor waveform graph, your research is deep. But why would you engage in such a farce?"
"Mr. Wiles?"
Zhao Yi intoned Wiles’ na, barely acknowledging him as a form of greeting, furrowing his brow in confusion, "What did I do? Act? Why would I do that?"
"Why would you do that?"
Wiles realized that Zhao Yi didn’t admit it and seed to laugh, he looked around, spread his arms in a gesture of innocence, and went on to say that his following words were simply because he ’couldn’t stand it’, "Does this really need an explanation? Okay then, you’re very young, perhaps you wanted to draw attention to yourself, or increase your fa, so people will know about your computing power, your mathematical ability. In short, your goal is to show off... to make those around you amazed..."
"Blah blah blah~"
Wiles explained a lot in one breath, and so people around him even clapped for him.
Zhao Yi turned his head to Chen Ming and said, "Can his words be summarized in two characters-- showoff?"
"Pfft!"
Chen Ming burst out laughing.
"So that’s why Chinese is broad and profound. Look at him saying so much, so complicated..."
Chen Ming couldn’t help holding his belly, laughing, and gave Zhao Yi a thumbs-up gesture.
The interaction between the two made Wiles slightly embarrassed and a bit annoyed. The person he was lecturing wasn’t listening, and saying more seed pointless.
Zhao Yi seed to notice Wiles’ expression, walking forward and smiling, "Respected Mr. Wiles, I see that you have a pair of eyes filled with wisdom."
Sarcasm?
Wiles was sowhat confused.
Zhao Yi nodded, "Yes, you were right, not just the African Arican guy just now, but all the stall owners around here are crowd actors who I have hired, and they will all cooperate with my performance."
After hearing Zhao Yi’s words, there was an instant uproar in the surroundings.
