On the day before the eting began, he assigned tasks to everyone on the team; each person had to co up with a research direction, which would be compiled and presented at the eting.

That way, the team could propose several plans. Whether they were right or wrong, feasible or infeasible, it’s always better to have ideas than none at all.

Huang Hongguo believed that doing so would demonstrate the strength of the Information Communication Research Institute. He had absolute respect for Zhao Yi, and to be honest, he had never thought about comparing himself with Zhao Yi. However, others from the theoretical group and the experintal base might not necessarily feel the sa.

Take Edward Witten and Qiu Chengwen, for example. Both are Fields dal laureates and top theoretical physicists, but being strong in mathematics doesn’t an they are strong in research and developnt.

Now it was about doing research and developnt, not mathematics or theoretical physics. They had more expertise in this area.

When the eting officially began, Zhao Yi asked everyone if they had any ideas. It was a routine procedure, as such cutting-edge research had no predetermined direction.

It would be quite an achievent if soone could co up with a very viable idea.

Zhao Yi also hoped that others would speak up.

Unfortunately, generally, there were none.

Perhaps so people had ideas, but those were likely to co out only when there was absolutely no clue, a situation in which Zhao Yi was also clueless.

Obviously.

It was not that ti yet.

But this ti it was different. Just as Zhao Yi had finished speaking, soone raised a hand, an unfamiliar middle-aged man with round-fra glasses, looking like a university professor.

"Director Zhou!" Huang Hongguo reminded him.

Zhao Yi nodded, "Director Zhou, please go ahead." He was sowhat expectant.

Director Zhou then began his ’report’, "I think we can develop along the direction of magnetic field detection technology. We have designed the magnetic field detection technology, but, limited by the influence of instantaneous high magnetic fields, it cannot be put into practice."

"We could do this, design a set of protective devices to block and isolate high magnetic fields—"

He rambled on and on.

Zhao Yi really couldn’t bear to listen any longer and hurriedly interjected, "Director Zhou, your idea is good. But we are now researching long-distance Z-wave technology, not a sche to block high magnetic fields."

"I know about magnetic field detection technology, but with that plan in place, the spacecraft’s performance would be limited. The maximum travel distance wouldn’t exceed a thousand astronomical units."

"And it could be even lower."

Director Zhou could only close his mouth sullenly. In fact, several people at the eting thought Director Zhou’s direction was feasible. Even if they couldn’t develop long-distance detection technology, enabling interstellar shuttles to travel a few hundred astronomical units at a ti seed like a considerable improvent.

"Does anyone else have any other ideas?" Zhao Yi asked.

He thought no one else would speak up, but then another person raised a hand, "We had two detection plans before, one is compression ratio detection, the other is magnetic field detection. Can we combine these two thods?"

"For example, particles within a magnetic field, under high compression ratios, may undergo certain changes—"

"No, they won’t."

Zhao Yi said confidently, "Magnetic fields will absorb the energy of Z-waves, only making the internal magnetic field stronger. Its effect on particles is also that of the magnetic field, not the influence of Z-waves."

"If Z-waves affect the particles inside the magnetic field, it ans the magnetic field has absorbed a large amount of energy, even reaching the designed limit."

"Clearly, that would have a significant impact on the range of Z-waves."

After finishing, he looked at the others, and yet another person stood up, "I think we can asure by particle velocity. Academician Zhao, I’ve read many of your studies, which say that within the range of Z-waves, the maximum speed of particles will greatly increase. So, we can determine the upper limit of maximum speed."

"That won’t work!"

Zhao Yi said decidedly, "The maximum speed of particles will indeed increase substantially, even by tens of thousands of tis or more. But particles have mass, and acceleration requires force. In just a few seconds, or even one second, how do you propose to accelerate particles to the maximum speed?"

"—Isn’t that what we’re supposed to research?"

Zhao Yi planned to say, "I think this research is much more difficult than developing long-distance Z-wave detection technology."

Then two more people stood up to speak, only to be directly denied by Zhao Yi. He looked around at everyone, feeling sowhat weary, and asked symbolically, "Does anyone else have any other ideas?"

Soone raised a hand.

Zhao Yi simply pretended not to see it and went straight on, "No one else? Then let share my thoughts."

The person awkwardly lowered their hand.

Huang Hongguo wanted to say sothing but eventually didn’t. They had proposed several plans in a row, all of which had been imdiately rejected by Zhao Yi.

How could they continue speaking?

He felt a slight dissatisfaction inside. The point of a eting was to listen to others’ ideas, especially in such clueless research. How could they not let people speak?

Zhao Yi didn’t care how Huang Hongguo felt, he just went on, "I think we should start with the perspective of the gravitational field for detection."

"Gravitational field? Why?" Huang Hongguo was sowhat puzzled.

Zhao Yi nodded, "What we need to study next is the change in the gravitational field under the coverage of Z-waves."

He straightforwardly assigned tasks without giving others a chance to speak, "The experint will be like this. First, we have to wait for the gravity generation device to be made, then we will be able to create an area with more than six tis the gravity of Earth."
