Hearing Bai Jianwu ntion his age, Wei Shiqing’s face reddened with anger. How could a man’s age be so casually disclosed?

Pointing at Bai Jianwu, Wei Shiqing imdiately retorted in annoyance, "Old Bai, that was a bit out of line, wasn’t it? Is it that you also want to go to the moon? That’s why you’re saying this."

"No, Old Wei—"

Bai Jianwu wanted to explain but was imdiately cut off, "You definitely did that on purpose. I’ve already said I want to work on the moon, and here’s Zhao Yi. Couldn’t you have said sothing nice on my behalf?"

"Zhao Yi, you—"

Wei Shiqing was still fuming when he turned to look at Zhao Yi, squeezing out a semblance of a smile, "Zhao Yi, being fifty-seven isn’t that old, right, it’s not yet sixty after all."

"No way!"

Zhao Yi found the scene before him quite amusing but shook his head decisively, "Age is very important. Working on the moon is no joke, Professor Wei. I understand your feelings, but with current technology, just the process of getting to the moon could harm your body, or even pose a life-threatening risk."

"I’ve been to the moon once, and when I returned, I thought I’d never go to space again. Why? The whole process is too unpleasant."

"If it’s a long-term job on the moon, with your age and physical condition, you definitely couldn’t handle it. Maybe once you arrived on the moon, you wouldn’t be able to work at all but would be in a constant state of maladjustnt, like being weak from illness. You would long for an Earth-like environnt, yearning for the gravity we have here."

Zhao Yi spoke with great earnestness, as going to the moon was indeed a very serious matter.

Unless one day, gravity generation technology could match Earth’s and extend to cover the Lunar Base, there was no chance for Wei Shiqing to go.

After hearing this, Wei Shiqing felt sowhat sad. He had truly hoped to go to the moon and hadn’t expected to be sidelined because of his age.

What a regrettable matter.

"Sigh—"

"Forget it!"

Wei Shiqing shook his head, turned away with a touch of sorrow, and left a remark, "Old Bai, you go then. I’m too old."

Zhao Yi said, "Bai Jianwu is indeed younger and has rich experience. He could go for a physical exam to see if he ets the standards."

"This—"

Bai Jianwu didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t sure whether to smile or how to react, getting Zhao Yi’s approval was a pleasant surprise indeed, but Wei Shiqing’s expression made it hard for him to smile.

Too old?

Yes, they were all getting old.

Even being a few years younger than Wei Shiqing, being fifty was hardly young anymore.

As Wei Shiqing and Bai Jianwu lanted over the issue of age, Zhao Yi was also reflecting on it, as he had now reached the sa age as in his previous life.

Though his life had undergone a dramatic change and he had beco a top scientist known to everyone, considered a great person leading humanity towards the cosmos.

But what about it?

Well.

This was good, things were good now.

Zhao Yi also wanted to indulge in a bit of sentintality, but upon further thought, there seed to be nothing to regret. His mood instantly improved quite a bit, and he went to have lunch, but not with others, just by himself in a corner of the cafeteria, absorbing the vibrant atmosphere of the campus.

After lunch, he headed for the dical Science Center.

That was his main goal.

The dical Science Center was always bustling; even at noon, many were in the labs, working tirelessly on their research, an all too common scene in the center.

As Zhao Yi walked into the lobby, he saw Dai Tianqing and Yan Xuelin sitting and talking seriously about sothing.

It was only when he sat down on the sofa next to them that Dai Tianqing and Yan Xuelin turned their heads and exclaid in unison, "Zhao Yi!"

"Hello, what are you discussing? You seem very serious."

"The academy’s new mber selection!"

Yan Xuelin said, "Our dical Center has beco world-famous, but for the past few years, no new academicians have been selected. Last year, I recomnded two, but both were rejected." He shook his head in frustration and continued, "However, this year, we’re discussing reaching out to so familiar academicians and recomnding a few more. It would be great if one or two get elected."

The competition for election of biodical academicians was fierce, with many professionals from the Life Sciences and dical Departnt participating.

The biodical field is vast, encompassing dical research, disease prevention, drug research, and even dical device developnt, among others. As a large industry, it naturally has plenty of talent, with many nominees for academia being career physicians, especially the older ones who are top experts in their dical fields.

They spent the first half of their lives treating patients and later summarizing experiences from their specialty, contributing to dical treatnt directions.

Because it encompasses so many related fields, the competition for election in the Life Sciences and dical Departnt is fierce every year.

In the past, the Biodical Research Institute could be considered one of the top three dical research institutions in the country, prestigious and powerful enough, but it was rare for them to produce an academician in over a decade.

In recent years, the Biodical Research Institute had developed rapidly, but since Zhao Yi, who made the most significant contributions, would not participate in the academic election of the dical Departnt, no one else was elected.

Yan Xuelin said, "This year we plan to nominate six people, but there are only four certain slots available."
