This sounds very complex, but an example makes it simple to understand.
For instance, building an interstellar spaceship that allows aliens to live onboard for an extended period, making sure that the aliens have the most comfortable living conditions possible within the spaceship.
Putting aside the spaceship construction technology for a mont, building a ship suitable for alien habitation is no easy task because humans do not know what aliens look like, let alone what kind of environnt is suitable for them to live in.
But now, humans have obtained a house where an alien once lived.

Humans need to identify where the alien house and things on Earth are similar or identical to slowly understand ’the living needs of aliens.’
The work that Ruan Wenye, Huang Zhong, and Zhang Qican were doing was precisely this: they needed to find ’commonalities between the alien’s house and the knowledge they possessed,’ which would increntally increase their understanding of the ’alien’s house.’
The alien’s house represents the divine code.

It’s even possible that aliens don’t need to live at all.
In short, the job is highly complex.
Zhao Yi didn’t expect the three of them to truly figure out anything; he simply hoped to identify so ’commonalities’ that would add to the ’conditions’ for using "Correlation Law" and thereby further understand the divine code.
