"Stop, stop, stop!"

Gao Yang patted his smoking head:

"Alright, alright, don’t explain the principles, just tell the result. So... are you saying you used this bizarre number 42 to block the World-Ending White Light at 00:42 on August 29, 2624?"

Lin Xian nodded:

"To be precise, it wasn’t eliminated, but blocked."

"Actually, I blocked it before it arrived; however, I deliberately left a strand of white light shooting towards Earth as a little prank, borrowing flowers to offer Buddha."

"The high-dinsional perspective of 42 is enough for to see and control everything. Those tiny units woven into ’guitar strings’ and ’threads’ allow to play any ’music,’ draw any ’pattern,’ and weave any ’sweater’ I desire."

Upon hearing this.

Gao Yang got goosebumps, rubbed his upper arm with a look of distaste:

"Please don’t tell I’m one of those you stitched together with a sewing needle, making feel like a zombie."

"Of course not."

Lin Xian chuckled lightly:

"Didn’t I just say? 42 is not only the smallest scale in the universe, but also the smallest scale in space-ti, so... those guitar strings, or rather ti lines and world lines, also connect past and future."

"That simplifies things a lot, as for those things that have already passed or disappeared, you can directly ’pull’ them out from the past."

"So theoretically, you weren’t ’woven’ back by , but ’found’ back from ti."

An image-rich and apt analogy.

Sohow made Gao Yang understand.

Then he let out a scream:

"This is freaking amazing! If you’re so omnipotent now, then you must have saved Chu Anqing, haven’t you?"

"Quick, tell ! Quickly tell you saved the little princess!"

Lin Xian patted Gao Yang’s shoulder, nodding solemnly.

"Oh my god..."

Upon hearing this tough answer, Gao Yang went limp, bent over, palms covering his face, obscuring his expression:

"That’s great..."

He pressed his lips, murmuring softly:

"That’s great..."

"To hear such good news, even if you blow up now, I’d die with no regrets."

Gao Yang rubbed his eyes and stood up straight again:

"But I still have many questions, what exactly is this Millennium Stakes that Chu Anqing was involved in? Who the hell is staking? Is it really aliens?"

"To be precise, it’s advanced civilizations in the universe."

Lin Xian’s pupils extinguished the blue light:

"The universe is so vast, how could humans possibly be the only or even the earliest intelligent beings?"

"In that vast, boundless universe, there are countless civilizations and life forms, and the advanced civilization staking on Earth is just one of them."

"Clearly, it’s a highly developed super civilization, with a long history and imnse strength, far surpassing humans, nad by Liu Feng as the ’Piling Civilization.’"

"What an awful na."

Gao Yang snorted in disdain:

"But the worse it sounds the better! If it were , I’d na them Big Villain Civilization!"

"You’re pretty cute."

Lin Xian interrupted Gao Yang and continued:

"The Piling Civilization has actually been at war with another equally powerful advanced civilization, but to their level of strength, it’s no longer about starships, cannons, or laser blasts."

"These high-level civilizations’ battles have reached the scale of tilines, they are ambushing each other’s history."

"Wait a minute!"

Gao Yang made a stop gesture, puzzled:

"Ambush history?"

"How is this even possible? Could it be like in the ’Terminator’ movie, sending transmigrators back in ti, killing you before you grow strong or wiping out your ancestors? Acting as Trans-ti Assassins?"

"Damn, thinking about this, those advanced civilizations are quite cunning! Unable to win head-on, if no advantage can be gained, they directly battle on the scale of ti and history!"

"That’s just dirty, who doesn’t have a weaker ti? What adult didn’t grow up as a child? What advanced civilization didn’t evolve step by step from lesser civilizations? Isn’t this akin to college students beating preschoolers?"

"This seems unstoppable, doesn’t it?"

Gao Yang unusually showing intelligence began probing:

"Unless, like in ’Terminator,’ you can also travel back to protect your young self; but such warfare would be never-ending, how could you possibly cover every aspect on such a lengthy tiline?"

Lin Xian nodded:

"Hence, there is a need to ’Lock History.’

He used his right index finger as if it were a nail, pressing into the palm of his left hand:

"Lock your own history, preventing the enemies from altering or ambushing your past self; it’s the safest, most practical, and prudent thod; and the tool used for locking history... is the ’Millennium Stakes.’

"Once the Millennium Stakes are driven, they lock down the already occurred history on that world line; the shorter the staking interval, the less Space-Ti Elasticity, naturally providing more solid protection."

Gao Yang raised his hand to ask again:

"But it doesn’t seem locked at all? Haven’t you changed the world lines many tis already? These Millennium Stakes locked the history for nothing."

"No."

Lin Xian shook his head:

"You’ve misunderstood, Gao Yang. What I’ve always changed has been our perspective of the future, I’ve never altered history even once."

"Moreover, as we keep jumping world lines, we’re searching for our way out. As for those failed world lines before, the purpose of the Piling Civilization’s locking history was fully achieved."
