Chapter 1355: Chapter 30: Guide to Roaming_3

Unfolding the white paper along the crease, Adams found there was only a mysterious number written on the large surface—

“42?”

He tilted his head.

Couldn’t understand what it ant.

But… it didn’t matter, after all, it was just a piece of scrap paper, and indeed had no value.

After folding the paper back and placing it in his pocket, the young Adams rode his bicycle to the dock, ready to board the ocean liner to start his journey ho:

“I’m so looking forward to it, my little baby.”

Riding the bike against the night wind, Adams was humming a tune and laughing happily:

“What kind of person will you beco when you grow up?”

Ten days later.

England, Cambridge, in a residential house.

Bang!

An excited Adams pushed the door open, laughing heartily:

“Here I co! Where’s my son? Where’s my son!”

The young mother on the sofa smiled:

“You still rember how to co ho, huh? The child is almost a year old and has never seen his dad. Little Adams is very smart and crawls very fast now.”

The young mother stood up, pulled her husband into the room, and pointed at the small baby rolling on the bed:

“Look, ever since he heard you were coming back, he’s been so excited since the morning.”

“Oh! My baby, Daddy finally sees you!”

Adams was very excited, gently picked up the baby, spun around in place, and kissed him twice on the cheek, causing the baby in his arms to burst into tears.

“Oh dear, you don’t recognize Daddy?”

Adams made a funny face:

“I’m Daddy~”

The young mother chuckled, took the baby to soothe him, giving Adams a sidelong glance while doing so:

“He’s only 8 months old, he doesn’t understand that much; besides, it’s the first ti eting you, just like seeing a stranger, of course, he’d be afraid. Really, you have to be gentle when soothing a child.”

“By the way, have you thought of a na for our son yet? We’ve been calling him Little Adams for 8 months, we can’t keep calling him that.”

“Hehe~”

Adams chuckled mysteriously and proudly:

“Of course, I’ve thought of a na! It’s a very nice, very powerful, very manly na—”

“Douglas Adams!”

“How about it? Isn’t it great?”

The young mother looked at the crying baby in her arms and thought for a while:

“So-so, it’s okay, the na is just average.”

“Oh no, how could it be average!”

Adams spread his hands:

“Do you know who ca up with this na? Einstein! The greatest physicist in the world, Albert Einstein!”

“Cut it out.”

The young mother snorted softly:

“Oh, co on, you just keep bragging, what makes you think you could et Einstein? Who are you kidding?”

“It’s true!”

Adams started rummaging through his pockets:

“I passed by a farm in Brooklyn and happened to find Einstein standing in the field daydreaming; I begged him for a long ti before he agreed to na our child!”

“Huh? I can’t find it, I rember putting it in this pocket…”

Saying this, the man opened his suitcase to search:

“How could it be, how can I not find it? Einstein wrote our son’s na, Douglas Adams, on a white piece of paper.”

“Alright, alright, stop pretending.” The young mother didn’t believe her husband’s words at all.

“Oh dear! Why don’t you believe ?”

Adams seed a bit anxious.

But he simply couldn’t find that piece of paper, not knowing where it was lost during his journey these past few days.

He scratched his ssy hair, looking regretful:

“Really, I must have often taken it out to look at it without knowing where it fell. Alas, it’s such a sha. I wanted to keep it as a nto.”

“But I really didn’t lie! That piece of white paper was taken out of Einstein’s own pocket, I even specially opened it to take a look, and there was nothing on that white paper except our son’s na and just a number 42.”

The young mother blinked and looked up:

“42? 42 of what?”

“No, no, no.”

Adams waved his hand:

“It’s not 42 of anything, no unit, it’s just a simple number—”

“[42]!”

Instantly.

The baby in his arms stopped crying and began to giggle.

Adams and his wife were stunned.

Looking at the baby who suddenly changed his expression:

“Could it be… he likes this na and number?”

With a try-it-out ntality, Adams gently said to the baby in his wife’s arms:

“Douglas~42~”

The baby’s eyes squinted into a line and he giggled again.

“You see, you see!”

Adams clapped excitedly:

“I told you he likes this na! It’s a na bestowed by Einstein! Darling, let’s settle on this na for our son!”

The young mother looked at her giggling son and also showed a benevolent smile:

“Although I don’t believe your bragging words, but… since our son likes it, let’s call him that.”

“Douglas Adams.”

The young mother softly called:

“Do you like the number 42?”

The little baby in her arms, as if by reflex, giggled and flailed his arms and legs joyfully.

“Looks like 42 is your lucky number.”

The young mother smiled, put the no-longer-crying baby back on the bed, watching him crawl around:

“In the future, when Douglas cries again, let’s just call 42 to soothe him, it seems like this number has so magical power for him.”

“That’s why I said! It’s Einstein’s blessing!”

Adams was still trying hard to make his wife believe in this matter:

“Fine, fine, if you don’t believe it, it’s alright, but when Douglas grows up, I’m going to personally tell him about this! So he knows how legendary his na is!”

“And as for the number 42, well… although I don’t know what this number ans, let’s leave it to the grown-up Douglas to investigate.”

“If he becos a scientist in the future, maybe he’ll have the privilege to research the sa topics as Einstein.”

“If he becos a mathematician, perhaps he could study the mystery behind this number, I don’t think Einstein would write down this number for no reason, right?”

“Alright, if he’s not interested in science and prefers literature…”

Adams furrowed his brows, stroked his chin, thought for a mont, and then bead with joy:

“Then becoming a writer wouldn’t be bad either!”

“That way, he can write 42 into novels… giving this number even more magical anings!”
