"Boss, we’re ready."

Oliver nodded and turned around to face his subordinate. As the master of the Dack Knights, he took it upon himself to deal with their current enemy once and for all.

"Good, lead the way."

"Yes, boss."

The subordinate turned around and exited the office, Oliver not far behind. Since discovering what happened to Jetro, Oliver had taken it upon himself to capture the person responsible.

No one could harm his people and get away with it. Dying on the mission was acceptable. What he didn’t accept was losing his people from no-nas who thought they could get away with murdering his n.

It was hypocritical, but he didn’t care.

Jetro failed that last mission and his killer had reason to co after him. While he could understand how the catwoman felt, it didn’t an it was okay.

A little over a week ago, he commissioned another underworld organization to capture Jess in the capital. However, that mission failed when the supposedly sentenced man returned to interfere.

Knowing that it was only a matter of ti, Oliver decided to pack up and leave Sunspire City. From what he had learned of that Caleb fella, he knew he would be no match and the empire he built over the years could co to an end.

Switching locations to another city was the best chance at survival. That didn’t an he gave up. Caleb might be strong, but even the most powerful beings could fall if they were plotted against.

That was exactly what Oliver did; lead those two into a trap.

The final details of the plan were already completed a day ago. The only thing left was to lead his targets straight into the trap.

A perfect location was chosen for this plan; a forest on the outskirts of their new base. The forest wasn’t popularly traversed due to the dangers it posed to travellers.

However, that was for the ordinary folks.

The Dack Knight boss was always one step ahead. He knew his ti in the big city could one day co to an end. And as the smart man that he was, he prepared a new base with the help of so mages who specialized in earth magic.

Unfortunately for those mages, they didn’t live afterwards.

This was the reality of the world he grew up in. The weak were eaten while the strong survived, doing whatever it took to achieve that.

Oliver and his most powerful n rode through the forest, heading for their destination. Their targets should be arriving within the hour.

’And I’ll be there waiting for them...’

......

Jess and Caleb had no issues traversing the thick forest with nothing but their physical speed, manoeuvring past the thick stems and boulders with ease. While Caleb could fly, Jess was on the fence about flying.

It was one of the abilities she didn’t want to have. Cats weren’t ant for the skies, at least for her. Besides, she already had an arsenal of abilities that were more than enough to take on an army.

The few monsters that noticed their presence attempted to follow them but couldn’t keep with them. Even if they did, a short fiery blast was more than enough to incinerate them.

"I still can’t believe I’ve grown this strong," Jess muttered all of a sudden, looking over to her partner. "It’s all thanks to you, Caleb."

"There’s no need to thank , kitty." Caleb chuckled. "You’re my woman. You don’t expect to leave you as you were, right?"

"Hehe, yeah." Jess giggled sweetly. "So, how far along are we?"

"Not far. Those two know the location of the trap but had no idea what it entailed." He replied. "That ans we’re going in blind."

"Hmph, when has that ever stopped you." Jess scoffed at the comnt. "Even if there’s an army waiting, they won’t be enough to stop us."

"True."

After several minutes of running, Caleb and Jess finally arrived close to their destination. The two unfurled their domain sense to scan the surroundings, detecting quite a few life signatures hidden all over the place.

The site of the trap was a clearing within a valley surrounded by a continuous mountain range. These parts of the wild were not deeply explored areas due to the number of monsters around.

Moreover, with no valuable resources in the area, the Duchess paid no mind to this location. This served as the perfect hideout for anyone escaping from the law.

That was, of course, if they could fend off the monsters. Caleb and Jess had no issue with this and their offenders had their own ans of hiding their presence from the monsters.

"There’s quite a lot of them." Jess muttered, pretending to be cautious while they moved closer to the clearing ahead. "Are they planning to surround us or sothing?"

"Well, there’s only one way to find out." Caleb said as they finally reached the tree lines. "Let’s draw them out."

"Mm-hmm."

The two walked towards the clearing, walking in different directions as if to look around. However, their senses were honed in on the surrounding n, who were getting in close.

They moved to surround Caleb and Jess in a circle, stopping just a few ters away from the tree lines.

Because of their camouflaging spell and hidden signature, they were under the impression that they couldn’t be sensed.

Under the domain sense of Caleb and Jess, they watched as these n brought their hands together, using the aid of hand gestures to cast a spell.

’Looks like a crowd spell.’ Caleb deduced. ’So, they’re going for a spell that would combine their mana pool to achieve an extrely powerful effect. Nice...’

Several seconds later, the ground began trembling, nearly causing the two to fall over.

"Shit! We’re being sealed in!"

Jess exclaid on point as the ground lit up in a purple light. The magic circle was huge, covering an effective radius of 50 ters.

An abrupt forcefield rose from the ground, swiftly rising to a height of 100 ters before forming a do over them.

Following the ford do above, a sudden and overbearing pressure descended on their shoulders, almost forcing them to their knees.

"How arrogant..." Jess and Caleb heard the deep voice of Oliver from outside the forcefield. "You knew this was a trap, yet you fell in anyway."
