Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Wardrobe
In the following days, Li Ang busied himself tinkering with equipnt and props in his living room in preparation for the next script mission.
It’s about ti, he mused.
One afternoon, while fine-tuning his drone in the living room, Li Ang finally received a prompt from the System.
[Mission Type: Script Mission (Solo)]
[Mission Na: The Foolish Husband in the Dangerous Building]
[Mission Objective 1: Eliminate gang leader Tama Riyadi]
[Mission Objective 2: Eliminate gang mbers 0/100]
[Mission Ti Limit: 10 hours]
[Mission Reward 1: 300 Experience Points]
[Mission Reward 2: 500 Ga Coins]
[Mission Reward 3: Random Quality Skill Scroll *1]
[Mission Failure Penalty: Erasure]
[5 minutes remaining before transportation, do you wish to transport now?]
Finally, it’s here.
Li Ang’s mind raced, and during the five-minute window before transportation, he quickly tidied up everything in the room and stood, fully ard, in the center of the living room.
This script mission was a solo undertaking, with no teammates or team to rely on.
The mission is called "The Foolish Husband in the Dangerous Building," which suggests that the scenario is set within a building. Taking the mission objectives into account, I have to eliminate gang mbers and their leader within a confined area... but one hundred is an absurdly high number.
The na Tama Riyadi sounds very Spanish. Where could this mission be set? Spain, xico, Cuba, Colombia, the Philippines... or perhaps the entire script mission is set in a Fictional World.
The brief period of five minutes rushed by, and as the second hand of the clock on the wall swept past twelve, the scenery before Li Ang’s eyes rapidly changed.
Inhale. Exhale.
Li Ang found himself in a rather cramped, enclosed space, surrounded by wooden boards on all sides with a wooden rod lying above him.
Barely able to move in his hunched position, Li Ang tentatively shifted his feet and felt what seed to be a pile of soft clothes beneath him. The stale air in the confined space carried a musty scent.
This seems like... a wardrobe? But why am I hiding in a wardrobe? Could it be that this ti I’m playing the role of so unlucky guy, a traitor who slept with the boss’s woman and is now being hunted by the entire underworld?
Li Ang didn’t rush out of the wardrobe but calmly began to feel for his attire in the darkness.
He was ard with a SCAR-H chambered for 7.62mm caliber bullets—the CQC (Close Quarters Combat) model with a 251-milliter short barrel and an Aimpoint M2 red dot sight.
His upper body gear included a MICH Kevlar tactical ballistic helt, bone conduction headset, goggles, combat suit, and a modular tactical vest.
Around his waist, he wore a nylon belt holding two Kimber Custom II pistols, one on each side, both equipped with suppressors; the right-hand pistol also had a portable gun light. His waist gear also included pistol holsters and a handheld radio.
His leg gear consisted of a BHI leg-mounted gas mask pouch, leg-mounted magazine pouches, two flashbangs, two smoke grenades, and two hand grenades.
He wore knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, and GSG9 combat boots, with a leather dagger sheath tucked inside his left boot.
Without exaggerating, Li Ang’s current outfit could be described as ard to the teeth, yet he couldn’t feel any joy. Am I playing the role of a S.W.A.T. team mber now?
S.W.A.T. is an acronym for Special Weapons And Tactics, referring to anti-terrorism special operations units with advanced technology and tactics. It originated in the 1960s in the United States with the Los Angeles Police Departnt (LAPD), which ford a special weapons attack team to counter the proliferation of firearms, achieving excellent results in multiple real-world operations.
Countries around the world have established S.W.A.T. units, and the gear of their mbers varies depending on the region, but they are all synonymous with "elite."
Even the weakest official forces could easily overpower so-called gangs.
With bulletproof and bomb-proof vehicles, snipers equipped with thermal imaging at high vantage points, and one or two ard helicopters, by the end of the procedure, even the big drug lords in xico would be sweating bullets.
As Li Ang pondered, he heard the System’s prompt again.
[In this mission, players are in complete role-playing mode, retaining attribute point enhancents; items from the backpack slot can be freely accessed, but skills and equipnt, including title abilities, cannot be used]
[Mission briefing sent]
HISS—
Li Ang hurriedly opened the player panel and found that apart from the attribute and backpack slots, other areas had turned gray, unresponsive no matter how he clicked.
You want an ordinary person, albeit with sowhat exceptional physical functions, to go up against 100 ard individuals? System, you really have so guts.
After grumbling internally for a while, Li Ang earnestly began to read the mission briefing sent by the System.
This is Malawi City, the provincial capital of South Lanao Province, on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines.
Since President Duterte took office, this lawyer-turned-president has declared a full-scale war on drug offenders within the country, citing the pretext that "the Philippines is critically ill, overrun by drugs, with a completely dysfunctional democratic judicial system."
Gun issues are extrely serious within the Philippines, with at least 600,000 firearms illegally owned, most of which are in the hands of drug lords.
To combat drug forces, Duterte not only deployed official forces but also distributed firearms for free to Barangay Leaders, encouraging the public to fight against drug traffickers with impunity for killings, even offering generous bounties for such deeds.
Such an all-out war naturally caused bloodshed, with many low-level drug traffickers exterminated by the Philippine people.
Many Western dia, acting holier-than-thou, have continuously condemned these "atrocities" as "human rights violations." In contrast, the Philippine people, who have suffered greatly from drug traffickers, firmly support the war against drugs.
A few major drug lords, unwilling to go down without a fight, joined forces with rebel armies, deciding to make a big move, with Tama Riyadi being one of them.
In just three months, two mayors and one vice mayor of Malawi City in the Philippines had been murdered in their own offices.
Given the deep-rooted corruption and drug influence in Malawi City’s administration, it was nearly impossible to muster sufficient ard forces to eradicate the drug lords led by Tama Riyadi.
At the sa ti, a large number of rebels, colluding with the drug lords, were also marching toward Malawi City.
They would co into direct contact with the Philippine governnt’s forces in three days—whose combat effectiveness was extrely poor, and likely to collapse on contact.
By then, the 200,000 civilians in the city would be engulfed in the war brought by the insurgents.
Manny Pacquiao, the leader of Malawi City’s special weapons attack team, received information that Tama Riyadi was to et with Santos Aquino, the brother of rebel leader Cruz Aquino, in his apartnt building today. Therefore, this special weapons attack team leader decided to bypass the police departnt’s higher-ups (whom he suspected had all been bought by Tama Riyadi). He would lead his 30-man tactical squad to raid Tama Riyadi’s apartnt. His plan was to cut the Gordian knot: eliminate Tama Riyadi, capture Santos Aquino, and prevent the rebel forces from advancing into the city—or at least delay them for a few days, allowing the Philippine governnt forces more ti to prepare.
Alas, things didn’t go as planned.
