Ajax cursed as he felt the Mana being moved by the enemy champion, not only was he not one of the younger and weakest levels of champions but he was also leaning into the physical side of a hybrid fighter aning he wouldn’t have as large of an advantage.
“You’re down here?” The champion asked, surprised. “Then who’s riding the dragon?”
“Dragons can fly just fine without a rider.”Ajax chuckled at how clueless he was before he launched himself towards him.
One of the main things Ajax was focused on right now was making sure the enemy wouldn’t run rampant through their lines. The single exchange between them had already left a crater from the impact and from the amount of runes on his gear Ajax was sure he had so devastating spells at the ready.
One of the biggest downsides of runic casting however was the reliance on the runes themselves, while most equipnt was made to be resilient for that exact reason Ajax’s thod of destroying equipnt hadn’t yet been wide spread.
First things first however Ajax knew he had to lock down his opponent. His initial attempt at using [Telekinesis] for this was shrugged off with surprising ease. The main reason being the champions high physical stats but Ajax was also sure he spotted a rune activating that sohow made the grip of his Skill weaker.
“You think the sa trick would work twice?” The champion growled as he moved on the offensive, launching a bolt of lightning from his gauntlet as he closed the distance towards Ajax as well.
The speed with which runic spells were cast added on to the short travel ti of the spell ant Ajax had little to no ti to weaken the attack, the one upside being that his opponent wasn’t much of a caster so his spell wasn’t all that strong. What little of the attack made it past his defensive enchantnts did little more than numb the left side of his body for a mont.
In a fight at their level however even a mont of weakness could be devastating. Ajax cursed his own arrogance for not being prepared at the enemy's ability to adapt to [Telekinesis]. He had hoped to keep more tricks up his sleeve for later but that didn’t an he was willing to take a direct hit like this.
Using Gravity Mana caught the opponent by surprise. Watching his enemy’s balanced form crumble as his boot crushed through the ground painted a smirk on Ajax’s face. Initially his gravity spells weren’t that powerful but since it wasn’t a known affinity Ajax took advantage of that to empower it with [Spell Direction] for added power.
Having already been put on the back foot once Ajax didn’t bother to close the distance and instead started conducting lightning Mana through his opponents armor from the five feet that separated them causing it to interact with the tal Mana in the armor and transform into Magnetic Mana.
Ajax was glad his Stamina had been full before the engagent. Starting at half Mana wasn’t ideal and using both Gravity and Lightning Mana at once wasn’t cheap, if it wasn’t for his ability to use Stamina instead of Mana Ajax would have been forced to take a riskier approach to the fight.
“The hell are you doing?!” The champion cursed as the current singed the fur on his chest, since the lightning wasn’t focused as an attack it wasn’t as debilitating as it could be. Ajax watched as the rune on the gauntlet lit up but the combination of the increased gravity and the pull of the Magnetic Mana released from his armor moved his aim off target. The second lightning blast heading towards his own army instead of Ajax. Even better Ajax heard and saw the crack that ford on the gauntlet under the strain of the spell.

The fight between them had barely begun. The armies had barely moved fifty feet away from the two champions yet already the rest of the champions were also starting battles all across the battlefield as the elites and regular soldiers did the best to get out of there alive instead of trying to contribute.
Taking the chance to look around Ajax wasn’t surprised to see they had the numbers advantage, he had expected that would be the case seeing as they had four squads with them. What worried him however was that they seed to have less than a three to one advantage. The enemy relied on fewer champion level squads so that ant most of their fighters were champion level by themselves.
“So this is how you did it.” The champion growled. “A dedicated mage killer.”
Ajax had to admit he was impressed with how quickly the enemy champion adapted to both the magnetic pull of his own armor as well as the increased gravity as he was already standing and putting so distance between them.
Knowing the fight wouldn’t last long now that both sides were out in the open, Ajax fully embraced [Last Stand], he was sure he had enough Stamina to last for the remainder of the battle. Neither side would be willing to tolerate the risks of losing so many champions. Not only that but Ajax also spotted the other weaker champion that was heading towards him and he wanted the extra endurance in case he also managed to get an attack to land.
With the extra power from [Last Stand] as well as the added power boost from [Mana Syphon] latching on to all the spells from the other champion fights breaking out Ajax’s physical abilities shot up. His forward movent coming as a clear shock to the enemy champion who still sohow managed to get his shield in position.
This ti however Ajax had not only not been surprised by the appearance of the shield he had expected it. With the increased physical power he now had he didn’t need to rely so much on increasing the power of his strike through [Mana Augntation] instead he needed the blow to land.
The ominous violet glow of Void Mana disappeared the mont the hamr made contact with the shield, the lack of impact clearly throwing the champion off his movent a mont before the impact landed cleanly on his chest.
Despite the blow landing on the armor instead of beneath it the amount of force behind it was enough to not only dent and destroy more of the runes on the champion’s armor but it also broke two ribs and fractured another.
The one downside of the blow landing from Ajax’s point of view was that since the champion didn’t tank the impact on the shield where he had braced for it the blow sent the enemy backwards giving him space to recover from the attack. As much as Ajax would love to follow that up he had another champion closing in on him, this one seed to be a fully physical fighter.
Ajax could clearly feel the difference in quality as he clashed with the gorilla beastkin. Despite the higher stats the less developed Skills were obvious, the lack of experience in fighting hybrids that took control of their surroundings even more so. Gravity Mana however was what really made a difference as the weaker champion wasn’t near as good at adapting to it.
Almost as soon as the clashed Ajax had his opponent unbalanced, uncoordinated and suffering three chilling cuts from his spear. Ajax knew better than to let a physical champion get too close to him, even with the boosts to his physical abilities getting into a grappling match was a quick way to lose.
While Ajax’s fight was going well the sa could not be said for the other two champions on their side or any of the four squads. The enemy had seventeen fighters, only one of them a squad and the squad seed to specialize in helping the remaining champions work together. It wasn’t long before another champion peeled off to head towards Ajax.
Unfortunately for the beastkin champions things were about to take a bad turn for them. Aurexion made his presence known as he dove from above channeling more Mana than Ajax had ever felt his bond call upon. Almost three quarters of the dragon’s entire Mana pool.
The dragon’s breath that followed, powered by the montum of the dive cut across the battlefield sharply. It didn’t kill any of the enemies but more than one of them had been caught out by the heat and were forced to retreat with nasty burns as Aurexion cut off the third champion making his way towards Ajax.
Aurexion’s entrance however was only a distraction as Aranor had finally made his move and made his presence known. Channeling an even larger amount of raw Mana than Aurexion through two simultaneous spells the tide of the battle turned completely as the beastkin’s were forced to lose almost half of their squad as their champions retreated, four of the seven injured with two of them sporting heavy injuries.
Instead of moving to chase however, both sides decided to end the battle there. While none of the alliance's champions had been more than superficially injured the sa could not be said about the squads that fought.
