Veyra P.O.V.

This is most likely a waste of ti, I hope whatever enjoynt Elduin gets from dragging

all the way to the edges of our territory will be enough to make up for what I will ask in return once he breaks the agreent we made. The trick is not to ask for too much all at once or his parents will get suspicious and I can’t risk offending them.

“Well where is this unique creature the likes of which I have never seen?” I ask.

“It can’t be much more.” I can feel the frustration he is pushing into his voice but it's all to mask the fear. Is it possible that he actually found sothing interesting or worthwhile and he wasn’t just trying to get one over on . “Did it not enter our lands? I thought they were thieves…”

Now I start to get a little worried as I think back to the deal we made. I was to co out here with him and help him in his interaction with an odd and rare creature in exchange I could use any knowledge I gained after we return however I wanted but all credit for anything that happens before we make it back goes to him. If there is no creature however I get half of the moonberries his parents brought back for him.

“This is the end of our territory and we haven’t found anything yet.” I announce a small amount of relief flowing through , he almost - no he definitely got , I actually believed there was sothing to find - those moonberries will taste all the sweeter to make up for this.

“It has to have co through here.” He is doubling down but the tremor in his voice isn’t hidden and I can see the desperation starting to form. Dammint, I’ll have to work him down on the way back or his parents might take their displeasure at his distress out on . “Tracks, he must have gone around, follow .”

The longer he pushes this the less inclined I am to show any rcy. Is this his trick? Get

mad to provoke a reaction from his parents? We reached the edge of our lands, I can almost feel the Mana density fall even more past our borders but the deal we made states that it can take up to three hours after we made it to the border to find the creature.

“Where do you think you’re going?” I ask as I sense he is moving to exit our territory. “I believe our terms were quite clear, we are not to go past the border, or are you looking to break our agreent.”

Damn kids, our laws state that they must be warned at least once before they break an agreent, if noticed in any form by the other side, but once you are no longer considered a kid that protection is gone even worse is that the law and warning is buried in the to they give you with all the other laws of adulthood and nobody can tell or will tell you about it specifically you learn by doing sothing stupid.

“He must have gone this way, let's follow the border around.” Elduin gets annoyed at

pointing it out but soon nobody will point things like this out to him, they’ll let him break the agreent and collect. I can’t wait for the day.

Two hours of following the ‘trail’ his tracking Skills can see, apparently this creature is traveling along our border but not in our lands. Absurd as his claims are, it's the first ones that make any sense, most intelligent beings know better than to enter our territory or et with the sidhe. We’re always looking for a way to get an advantage.

“We’re getting closer.” He says but instead of increasing his speed he uses a stealth spell. “Hide your presence, it has [Sense Mana].”

My wings flinch in annoyance but I use my own stealth spell. Our speed drops over the next ten minutes so as to not disturb the spell and that’s when I feel it. An odd Aura radiating from sowhere just outside our lands, an Aura the likes of which I hadn’t felt before yet it undoubtedly belongs to an Ascended race.

What has this little monster gotten

into, I don’t want to antagonize another Ascendant, if they are traveling so close to our lands they must not fear us. I don’t feel an overwhelming sense of dread coming from the aura so unless they’re hiding their power well it isn’t confident based on its power alone.

“There it is.” I can hear how pleased he is in his voice and I step up to look at what has him so interested.

What is that? I know what it looks like but that can’t be real. Is this a test? Maybe it's a prank from one of the other races and they found a way to trick our senses and mask the way their race's Aura feels? Could it really be a human?

The human seems to be riding on a rock golem, one animated by Mana from what my [Sense Mana] more specifically according to [Identify Affinity] its Life Mana. Whoever is making this joke clearly hasn’t done their research well, not just a human Ascendant but one that has Life Mana. A Legendary Mana affinity, out of all Legendary Skills affinities are the hardest to gain since they are so flexible as components for a pseudo Mythic Skill.

A boar… one so weak. They have a spacial artifact, that narrows it down a lot. Very few Ascended races would actually be able to craft a storage device, and while they might have a use for that they would have no use for an axe. It’s starting to look more and more like this truly is an ascended human.

“There, an Ascended human.” Elduin’s voice is filled with pride. “Odd and rare just like I said. Now you must help

in my interactions with it.”

“Him” I harshly correct. Just like a privileged brat to look down on others like that. Even if humans are inferior this one Ascended. We don’t know nearly enough about him or humans as a whole to look down on him like this. I know a few stories about humans and other humanoids but the one that is most clear in my mind is the one about the one called Grim. The human who forced the sidhe into the worst deal in history.

“You go first, let's see how he’ll react.” Elduin ignores

and prods

forward.

“He is past the border.” I point out.

“The deal was that you have to help

as long as we stay inside.” Elduin doesn’t hesitate, clearly expecting my objection. “You can talk to it from here.”

Knowing I have no other choice other than to be the one to break the agreent I drop my stealth spell and call out to the human. “Ability to use Life Mana, that is impressive. Though not as impressive as an Ascended humanoid.”

The speed at which he moves when startled is higher than I expected, he was clearly toying with the boar but he is stronger than I gave him credit for based on his Aura.

“Why is my [Fairy’s Eye] still not working.” Elduin complains from behind

a mont before I feel [Personal Veil] get pierced.

The human has an Inspection Skill. One that is strong enough to see through my Rare Skill at level sixty. He only got my race na and level but that is a lot more than I wanted him to have. More than that he clearly has a privacy Skill as well. [Fairy’s Eye] is a Legendary Skill how the little twirp got that I don’t know but the fact that it isn’t working, even if it is low level ans he must have a good privacy Skill or a decent high leveled one.

He relaxed. That’s not good, it ans he thinks we don’t pose that as much of a threat to him. Is that overconfidence? I quickly switch my own privacy Skill. It no longer cares so much about my race level or na but is instead more focused on if the inspection Skill it blocks asses combat strength, if I can bait him into using it again it might tell

why he relaxed.

“My na is Veyra.” He already knows that but maybe this way I can lead him into a false sense of security and make him think I don’t have a good privacy skill that lets

know what he saw about .

“So their true na doesn’t hold any special power over them.” I hear the human mutter to himself.

He really does seem to be a human, no point to keep the ruse up any longer than this if it was a prank. This might still turn out well for , if I can get him to make a bad deal with .

“My na is Ajax Hearthbound.” Good looks like he’s willing to talk. “Any agreent I give towards any deal or understanding during this conversation will be done by stating ‘I am Ajax and I approve this deal’.”

He… What?...That… I have to ensure to get a deal from him in not spreading this trick to other Ascended races, tricky deals are how we sidhe can get an upper hand and he just neutralized that for any sidhe even remotely close in power to him with a single sentence.
