Ajax could tell, the markings were obvious and

it showed that this area was claid. There wasn’t anything telling people to leave but that wasn’t the sa as an open invitation. He didn’t know it at the ti but when he entered HelSotHein’s area that one had an open invitation for any Ascended creature to enter the other edges, it was only the inner area where the ruins were that were marked for people to keep out which was why the hydra had initially been antagonistic towards his presence.

Ajax was very much hoping for a similarly beneficial interaction with the Ascended race that claid this area as he had with HelSotHein. While he hoped for the best he also prepared for the worst, instead of cutting straight through the area of marks Ajax stuck to the outside edge while making no attempt to mask or project his Aura. It had been made clear to him during his journey that the part of his Aura that marked him as an Ascended was easily recognisable by all who knew what it was as long as he wasn’t trying to cover it and there was no need to push out his Aura to make his presence known, in fact doing so might actually drown out his Aura which was why HelSotHein didn’t initially register he was Ascended since he expected a humanoid not to be.

Since he wasn’t trying to keep a low profile and he now had access to a lot more Mana than he was used to thanks to the upgrade to [Mana Syphon] Ajax could finally start his work on sothing he had wanted to get better at for a while now.

Using his Earth Mana Ajax created a rock statue of a horse. His studies in biology, his knowledge of architecture and his combat knowledge of golems ant that he could make everything in such a way that once he infused his creation with Life Mana it should be able to move like a normal horse.

Creating the horse golem took barely two hundred Mana, sothing he was happy about as it showed his efficiency was getting better and better. With the vessel made Ajax started to slowly infuse the golem with Life Mana. The infusion was slow, less than a hundred Mana a minute Ajax knew he could handle more than that in a single second yet he wanted to infuse Mana at just a slightly higher rate than his Mana and Stamina could regenerate whilst he kept his walking pace.

For the next two hours Ajax found the process relaxing but he was starting to run into three issues. The first was that he was reaching the limit of how much Mana the rock could hold, even a rock from out here in the Wild Lands where the Mana density was much higher than Gryndor had a limit and basic rock the size of a horse was reaching its limit as it passed the 11000 mark.

The second issue Ajax was running into was one he had so experience with and it was his own control over the spell. Using the ettin staff Ajax was used to throwing around imnse amounts of Mana but most of that was channeled through the staff and it was all done in monts. Now he was controlling more than 10000 Mana for an extended period of ti, that it was his own Mana was the only reason he hadn’t lost control of it yet.

The final issue he had was with his Mana channels. His body wasn’t used to channeling Mana for so long, there were a few tis when he had done sothing similar for his alchemy but the Mana per second had been much lower back then and even after that he had felt fatigued. Together the three issues marked this as a great stopping point and it was ti for Ajax to see what he could do.

Casting a spell with sothing as difficult to control as Life Mana using 11000 Mana ant Ajax felt a heavy pressure on his mind. It felt like his brain was trying to expand but was contained within its head and the pressure was building. The slight taste of iron on the tip of his tongue let him know that he had pushed beyond what was safe for him and his nose started to bleed.

Ignoring all of that Ajax finished casting his spell and felt the Mana leave his control as he took a few heaving breaths while backing away from the horse golem he had placed on the ground.

“I definitely… need more practice… with this…” Ajax heaved as he looked at his creation while wiping away the blood from his face.

This exact technique was one he hoped would beco a staple of his House’s defensive asure with the statues of Fluffy they would have prid with Mana around the estate yet Ajax hadn’t realized just how difficult it would be to activate the spell even if they were all already charged with Mana, that wasn’t ntioning the extra difficulty if the Mana wasn’t all provided by him in the first place.

“The ritual runes should take so of the pressure off…” Ajax hoped but he wasn’t convinced of that especially since he wanted to have more than just 10000 Mana in there.

Looking at the horse golem Ajax couldn’t suppress his bloody grin as it turned and gave him a bow. For the first ti one of his golems would be lasting for more than a couple of minutes so Ajax had needed to give it more than a single simple task. As such Ajax had focused on creating a protective mount for himself.

The base of his visualisation was a protector. Duke Manashaper had warned him many tis not to be overly reliant on the inbuilt safety of his casting style since it wasn’t foolproof. When it ca to things like his [Telekinesis] or even sothing as simple as forming an armor of rushing Wind around himself Ajax would subconsciously lower the power to sothing that wouldn’t hurt him, he was slightly embarrassed it had taken him so long to realize this as a valid way to train his [Telekinesis] considering the number of warnings his future father-in-law had given him about it.

Unfortunately unlike the Duke’s Skill Ajax’s protection ended at direct damage, if Ajax charged and detonated a fireball too close to himself his instincts wouldn’t help him make it small enough so the blast wouldn’t harm him. This was why Ajax focused on the golem’s first directive was to protect him, and only after that to serve as a mount. Ajax’s idea of a protective mount was a loyal steed for a dieval knight so naturally the golem tended towards that.

With the spell finished Ajax climbed on the back of the horse and couldn’t help but curse his past self slightly for not making the back portion a little more comfortable to sit on. Despite the lack of comfort Ajax pushed all his senses as he now took a closer look at his surroundings as his golem started to carry him forward. Ajax was looking for any creature he might encounter as he wanted to see how the golem would react to it.

It wasn’t more than five minutes before they happened on a large boar, so far today Ajax had stayed away from any of the wild life but since the boar was on the outside of the claid area Ajax had no issue approaching it hoping it would serve as a good test for his golem.

As soon as the boar saw them it charged. It was only level fifty one but its tutorial personality overwrote whatever alarms Ajax was sure its instincts were blaring in the presence of his Aura.

Ajax was a bit surprised to see the horse golem attempt to buck him off, decided to see it plan Ajax went with the motion and jumped off, with him not riding it anymore the golem charged the boar looking to et it head on.

“Not the smartest.” Ajax observed as the boar smashed through one of the golems legs, sending it off balance and crashing into the ground. “Or maybe it just can’t evaluate the difference in power.”

Ajax had focused the entire power of the spell into longevity wanting to see how long his golem would last with that much Mana powering it, this ant that none of the Life Mana was strengthening the rock in any way like it had done for any of the other golems he had previously created which had let them be more sturdy for the brief ti they had been alive.

Being a golem it didn’t regenerate the leg but Ajax was very surprised to see it had so knowledge of how to balance on its three remaining legs as it stood up and looked to engage the boar again in an effort to protect him.

Despite being able to stand horses couldn’t walk on three legs let alone run down a boar so the boar closed in on Ajax who had no issue pulling out his axe and killing the creature with a single swing. It didn’t pose any threat to him yet Ajax was much more interested in the reaction of his golem than anything else, this was why he was caught slightly off guard by the words he heard next.

“Ability to use Life Mana, that is impressive. Though not as impressive as an Ascended humanoid.”
